15 yr old ds and finding testosterone

My ds came to me last night and said he found a used/opened vial of testosterone b. He found it lodged in the bathroom sink and brought it straight to me. I have asked him if it was his and if he has been taking them and he vehemently denies it. The only other finger points to my husband either placing it there to make it look like my ds is taking them or my husband is using this
I know my husband will deny it being him in which case I don’t know where I can go with this. It hasn’t just fallen from the sky 😩 I had a sleepless night last night and discussed it this morning again with my ds but he is adamant it is not his.
he has in the past discussed steroid usage and knows my stance on it as I’ve been very clear with him how dangerous it is at his and really at any age.

Have you actually asked your DP?

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh · 14/09/2026 15:41

Why would your husband plant it to make you think it was your son?

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 15:46

No I haven’t asked him yet as he was asleep last night and been at work this morning. I know he will say it’s ds but I have no proof on either. It will cause world war three.

I know it sounds crazy but certain things happen in our home that my ds denys is him and doesn’t happen when dh is out/at work. It’s driving me crazy as I have no proof

Why would your husband plant it to make you think it was your son?

And why would your son tell you he’d found something if it was his in the first place. To pin it on your husband?

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 15:57

No he basically said he knows it’s not me and he knows it’s not himself so must be my husbands

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 15:57

He was just as surprised as me to find it in the bathroom sink plug hole

Can you go through your bank accounts? I doubt anyone could pay cash for that, could they?

I'd believe my son - why would he tell you about it if it was his?

TFImBackIn · 14/09/2026 15:59

Is your husband your son's father?

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 16:00

I have my own bank account and occasionally go through husbands due to previous issues. That’s what I thought he wouldn’t of brought it to me if it was his surely 😳

OP posts:
Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 16:01

No it’s not his father. His step dad

You know them best OP.

Who do you think it belongs to?

AmberSpy · 14/09/2026 16:01

I mean if your son was taking it and trying to hide it, he wouldn't bring you the vial himself would he?

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 16:02

No I don’t suppose he would. Not looking forward to bringing it up with my husband. He will deny. Then I don’t know where to go with it

What are these previous issues you're referring to OP? Does your husband have a history of taking dodgy substances and lying about them?

WallaceinAnderland · 14/09/2026 16:07

This sounds like a classic case of gaslighting by your DH. I would not mention anything to him and ask your son not to either. Your DH will be expecting you to find it and ask him about it so that he can sabotage your son. Saying nothing will thwart his plan.

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 16:10

yes there have been previous substance issues with my husband.
I don’t want to bring it up with him but my ds will and the fact he thinks my husband is taking it isn’t great 😔

OK, if you're being completely honest with yourself, is this marriage a good one? Can you trust your husband? Does he have a good relationship with your son? Because reading between the lines this all sounds a bit off

i can’t answer positively to any of those questions which says it all doesn’t it

Mumtotornadoes · 14/09/2026 16:24

My mum's husband used to steal money off her then put it in my purse to frame me. It gave him a free pass to steal off both of us and forced a wedge between us that I couldn't go to her about problems.

You know the truth. It's about whether you're going to face it

LostTheGoodScissors · 14/09/2026 16:26

The testosterone seems like the least of your problems

It does, OP, I'm sorry. Is there someone in real life you can speak to about this? Mum, sister, auntie?

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 18:24

Yeah but I know how crazy it all sounds. I’m also afraid of turning my mum against my dh. It’s a shit situation. I have asked my ds to keep quiet about it for now. I do feel like I’m being deceitful though towards my dh.

can you get into your husbands emails and look for testosterone and see what comes up?

or rake through his stuff as theres bound to be more? it may be in the shed or his car.

Brunolarge · 14/09/2026 21:12

No I wouldn’t be able to look at emails or go into his car.
