Exam woes (A levels)

Yes I know some of them are technically adults (mine isn’t she still 17) but the tension in the house is running high.
Just wondered if anyone else going through it?I can’t seem to say or do anything right and dd tends to struggle with anxiety anyway which makes her more snappy. We have 5 more days left, she’s been in the local uni library for 13 hours a day over the weekend. Not the most sensible choice but it’s her decision.

Im two years past that now, but Dear Lord I remember it well. Everything at home was “shit”, we were “awful” and embarrassing just for existing.

All you can do really is weather the storm, be available with tea and be ready to listen. If she is going away next year, some explain it as a way of cutting the ties- albeit subconsciously.

It will get better. The stress dissipates a little for a few months, they remember other interests and become much more pleasant (usually!)

dd is the same - she puts so much pressure on herself, and I find simply saying she's doing great, giving her some space and snacks works. It might help to find a time to try to ask her what she's going through... this article might explain it better than I can https://weareluna.app/parents/guides/confidence-and-motivation/mock-exam-stress/

Thanks all much appreciated especially the link to the relevant thread.
the end is nigh/in sight (Friday)…
loosening the apron strings is also a learning curve but we’re doing ok (probably)!
