14 yo DS not doing anything in summer hols

He has only a few friends & sees them very sporadically but 8/10 days this summer holiday, he's been on his own.. on his phone, or playing video games.. he might pop to shops or do a little bit of other stuff, but as I'm wfh i am seeing his days pass by & there's very little going on. Tried encouraging him to reach out to friends but the few he has are on holiday apparently. Even when they're not they don't seem to just meet up & hang out..go outside!!! Is this normal for boys this age?? It doesn't help he's not into football/ sports.. guess I'm hoping for some reassurance or practical advice to help. Thanks!

It seems the comments are divided into people who have non neurodivergent kids who follow their suggestions and ones with kids who can't be forced or encouraged to get out of the house. Thinking back, when I was little my brother was permanently in his room playing records, no one was allowed to enter. That was the early 70s!

If he seems happy in himself let him alone. My nearly 12 year old did camp for one week then we went on a fortnights holiday and she said she is so relieved now to be able to stay at home with nothing to actually do. She is reorganising her bedroom and coming on trips out and about with me but happy in her own company

My DS now 15 has been like this, he only has a couple of friends who never want to do anything unfortunately. He has asked them, they go out very occasionally He was "dropped ' by a group when he went to high school and is quiet and gets anxious.
I feel bad as DD has a group of close friends who meet up regularly. I tried to get him to go to a tennis camp for a few hours but he wouldn't go.
I made him go to the gym a couple of times which he did and go for walks with me and the dog.
He likes golf but the weather has been rubbish and he won't go on his own, DH has to go with him 🙁.
