Found a little tub of these pills in DC bedroom. Can anyone identify them? I've tried to do a Google search and nothing has come up

Looks a lot like propranolol (for anxiety)

Iloveeverycat · 27/07/2024 12:24

Just did Google search. I had a quick look on drugs.com there is a lot of pink tablets like that but couldn't see anything with p & c on them

distinctpossibility · 27/07/2024 12:25

99% sure it's propranolol a prescription drug for anxiety

EarharttE · 27/07/2024 12:25

My propranolol say 2Z1 on one side and nothing on other.

They are pink and round though.

I would agree, but the best thing is to ask your teenager.

Coffeeorwinetime · 27/07/2024 12:26

Thanks. They were prescribed propanalol a couple of year ago for migraine related to long COVID but they no longer have a prescription ( and the pills were white). Not sure where they're getting them from now 😔

Yea I'll have a chat, when they come home. Wanted to check they weren't anything more sinister

My 40mg Propranol look like these but have P and B not C.

Coffeeorwinetime · 27/07/2024 12:29

Thanks everyone. They're not in a proper packet so I'll have a chat to see where they're getting them from and why, and arrange a trip to the docs if need be

How old is the kid? Old enough to go gp on their own?

Although in a tub, on their own, no label - I'd be very concerned too. Hope you get it sorted op.

17 so yes old enough to visit GP on own and that's absolutely fine, it's the fact they're in a little tub and not a proper packet that's concerning me

Might have just popped them out in case a pal saw the packet maybe?

Sounds obvious but I'd just ask "what are these?" Without referring to them poss being their past meds. I found what I was sure were cheapo smints in DC room scattered about when sorting washing and without thinking I stupidly asked "are these little mints?" Of course DC said yes, then I drove myself mad wondering if I just gave them an easy out and ended up on my knees when they were out looking for more to try one to double check 😩 (they were mints).

lovemycbf · 27/07/2024 12:44

Why are you in a 17 year olds room ? Do you not respect their privacy?

If it’s a medication, the way the pills look like will depend a lot on the manufacturer.
So the ones he had might have been white. But another prescription might be pink etc… Same with the ‘writing’ on them. The shape, Ime, seems to be staying the same.

Owl55 · 27/07/2024 12:50

Ask your pharmacist maybe

i Presume it’s her or her hubby/partner’s house, not the 17 year olds so why can’t she go in? If it were my child, they can expect total privacy to do what or have what they like when they are out of my home.

My antidepressants are a different shape every time I get a fresh box. Different manufacturers make the same medication, once the patent has expired, and the NHS shops around for the cheapest.

I'm decorating, they fell out of a bag while moving things out of their room. I can assure you I'm not in the habit of snooping around my 17 year olds bedroom

maybe they have the sort of relationship that isn't distant lodgers, wild as that sounds.

BobbyBiscuits · 27/07/2024 13:16

At 17 they're entitled to take whatever medication they wish. I don't think you should confront them about it. I'd be mortified at that age if my mum had been rifling through my room looking for medication or anything else.
I am sure some people think invading teens privacy like this is normal, but I really don't.
I guess I lived away from home aged 17, and was working full time at 18, so did not feel like a child that needed to be monitored by my mother.
