Found a little tub of these pills in DC bedroom. Can anyone identify them? I've tried to do a Google search and nothing has come up

At 17 they're entitled to take whatever medication they wish. I don't think you should confront them about it. I'd be mortified at that age if my mum had been rifling through my room looking for medication or anything else.
I am sure some people think invading teens privacy like this is normal, but I really don't.
I guess I lived away from home aged 17, and was working full time at 18, so did not feel like a child that needed to be monitored by my mother.

And if they are popping something illicit or even dangerous? You don't think parents should, you know, parent their children?

The National Crime Agency has revealed that a highly potent new drug has been linked to almost 180 deaths in the UK.

Op wasn't rifling through, so your comment is irrelevant.

What seems relevant is that you left home at 17, so thats probably skewing your view on this tbf.

Op is perfectly within her rights as a parent of a minor still living at home to ask what it is. It's sort of part of the deal of being a parent, checking your child is ok and not doing something daft.

Tbh if one of my friends said "I found a tub of random tablets in my child's room, but they're entitled to take whatever they want so I just put them back" I'd probably subconsciously keep more of an eye out for the kid, considering the parents aren't.

As I said before I'm not rifling through their room or invading their privacy. I discovered them while clearing out their room for decorating. If they turned out to be illegal drugs would you be happy with your 17 year old taking them?
I'm not going to confront them more have a chat to ascertain what they are, why they're taking them and offer any help and support they may need

Well said @Megifer !

And good job @Coffeeorwinetime for doing parenting right (and having a great username 😁)

Op ignore posts like that they are just trying to make you feel crap when you have absolutely no reason to.

Coffeeorwinetime · 27/07/2024 13:34

@ButtSurgery @Megifer exactly I've seen them now and can't just pretend I haven't if they're not being taken for a legitimate reason (or if indeed they are legitimate meds). I would be doing my DC no favours at all by not reaching out to them and offering support

Oh don't worry they're not making me feel like crap, more than I'm doing the right thing by having a chat

They look like my propranolol too

TooManyNiblings · 27/07/2024 13:45

Coffeeorwinetime · 27/07/2024 12:56

Yea could do. I'll have a chat with DC first

Don't ask a pharmacist, they will not tell you anything. The answer will be 'if they are yours and you have mixed them up so don't know what they are, I can dispose of them for you. If they are not yours, I can dispose of them for you.'

TheKoalaWhoCould · 27/07/2024 13:47

Propranolol is taken “as and when”, so it’s a really common one to have some left over of when you stop taking them, and these could be old meds if that’s been prescribed in the past. mine aren’t exactly the same but are pink with PC on.

BobbyBiscuits · 27/07/2024 13:48

@ButtSurgery nitazines are a serious concern among hardened long term IVDUs with thirty year habits. I wouldn't have thought a 17 yo taking a prescription medication for an illness he's been diagnosed with is quite the same level of risk?

TheKoalaWhoCould · 27/07/2024 13:51

Sorry - just to add, in case anyone is relying on MN for medical advice: propranolol is taken as and when for acute anxiety and panic disorders. I take it for panic attacks. If you are taking it for your BP, cardiac or thyroid problems or to treat a haemangioma, it should be taken regularly!

As it stands, op isn't sure it's prescription medication, hence it being a good idea and bare minimum parenting to check. Another irrelevant comment.

I suspect the pp's point re: that article is unknown things do get mixed with drugs, some not harmful like citric acid etc. some very harmful.

Nitazenes are being cut into all sorts of substances including street benzos which plenty of people take with no concept of what they risks are taking including fake "diazepam".

CustardCreams2 · 27/07/2024 14:04

Propranolol can be pink just like that

Umm....you're welcome??? Confused

CautiousLurker · 27/07/2024 14:13

Have attached photo of my son’s propranolol tablets - 10 and 40mg. His tablets look different.

Tbh I’d take it to a pharmacist and see if they can identify it - if not, it’s something she shouldn’t have.

Edited just to add… when I search ‘pink tablet’ and 1Z1 and 2Z1 GOOGLE immediately said propranolol. A search for pink tab and PC did not. I’d be suspicious, I’m afraid.

Help - can anyone identify this pill
BillieEyelash1 · 27/07/2024 14:15

Looks like 40mg of propranolol to me. Mine look the same

Coffeeorwinetime · 27/07/2024 14:24

I'm getting on with the decorating so not ignoring you all. DC is back tomorrow so I'll update once I've had a chat

changedusernameforthis1 · 27/07/2024 14:43

I take propanalol and mine say C/318, although you can get different ones and it's most likely with him being on them before.

However, I'm aware that there's a pink slightly rectangular tablet with CP on it which is MDMA.

If you can't get an answer out of your Son, you can take a tablet to your pharmacy and they should be able to tell you - but keep in mind that if they are illegal then they will likely contact the authorities.

Really hope it works out well OP.

Choochoo21 · 27/07/2024 14:47

I think having a chat sounds the best thing to do.

They may surprise you and turn out that they’ve been proactive and been to the GP already, which is where they’re getting them from.

Bloodydaft12 · 27/07/2024 14:51

These are my Propranolol. They have a C on the back. Very similar

So I've had a chat with DC - they're propanalol they had left which was lying around their cupboard. They didn't know what to do with them so shoved them in a little tub. They did reassure me they weren't planning on taking an overdose which hadn't even entered my head!

That’s very good news @Coffeeorwinetime
