Have you managed to coax your teenaged boy into sandals....or am I as ludicrous as he thinks I am?

DS 15, is going to be spending a month in a hot climate doing a lot of travelling and walking. I suggested he get some decent sandals to alternate with his trainers and I've been laughed out of the house.

Even his Df ridiculed my suggestion. Teen DD and I are Birkenstock fans forever but I said any sandals. I wasn't trying to force him into Birkenstocks.

Is it just that sandals are uncool? DS will know no one but family where we are going, is not the most sociable anyway (so won't be looking to meet new people) so what is the problem and could it be that he just hasn't come across the right pair???

Sometimes people put stuff in the search bar, look through threads, read one then forget it's old and comment. It's easily done I think.

Fair enough. I've done it myself.

BusterGonad · 18/04/2024 08:44

Exactly. I'm pretty sure I have too.

Laughing away at the responses here and so glad I didn’t even suggest it. We are going on holidays this year, so I’ll know now to keep my mouth shut and stock up on white socks.

@3luckystars, it is actually possible to remake a teenager in your own image.

After coming to Italy with us over Easter DD's boyfriend (16), has been buying up chinos, linen shirts and sandals from Vinted.

AND ASKING MY OPINION.

I never tell youngs what to wear, merely offer suggestions.

Try it, they might like it.

Flip flops, sliders or crocs.

It’s a thing with this particular age cohort. Feet are to be covered. I don’t understand it at all. None of my DD’s peers expose their toes.

I don't understand estate the middle age obsession with exposed toes. Horses for courses.

I'm not entirely sure it's a 'middle-age' thing.

I've always suffered from hot foot rage and have been an enthusiastic wearer of open shoes in warm weather all my life.

I'm 45 and I don't really like sandals, they ALWAYS rub across the toe band no matter what. I do have 2 pairs that I wear if I know I'm not walking much but otherwise it's trainers.

Sandals, on a teen boy.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I’m so happy I read this thread, I hate sandals and am mortified even trying them on and now I feel better about it.
