Teen boys - what brands other than Nike / North Face do they like?

My DS doesn't like the all-black / all-grey Nike look. He likes more colour and isn't particularly sporty. I've bought lots from Hollister and A&F sales as they seem to be popular and he seems to like them, but I don't know what other teens would think. DS has bought some bright patterned "resort shirts" that he loves. Where else should we look for clothes?

DS (14) like the Hugo line of Hugo Boss. Luckily he has a Saturday job so he can buy his own 🙈.

megletthesecond · 06/08/2023 13:01

Patagonia
Berghaus

myextraordinarylife · 06/08/2023 13:49

Thanks, I'll look at these with him. He'll need to select from the sales as some of the clothes are ££££

Open to other ideas too... it doesn't need to be high end

Super dry

DS15 wears a number of the crap Nike/Adidas things (more to fit in). He actually likes wearing Hollister, Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Boss

TK MAXX? I know it can be an overwhelming jumble sale of clothes but you can get some good finds in there! Adidas have some nice colourful choices too

abcdefghijklmnopandthatsit · 06/08/2023 14:08

Next go up to age 16 on their website (not in shops) and have more colourful clothes. It's not a brand but can be worn with branded clothes to at least inject some colour.

PandaGrump · 06/08/2023 14:10

Jack Wills
levis (13 yo likes the tops and sweatshirts)

myextraordinarylife · 06/08/2023 14:41

Carhartt

My son is very brand conscious and he likes.

Berghaus
CP Company
Lacoste
Lyle and Scott
Champion (for basic T-shirts, socks and underwear)

He also likes the Nike fluorescent T-shirts, they are called 'miler' if your son likes a bit of colour.

Clothing teen boys can be very expensive, you can often get things brand new with tags on vinted for a fraction of the price.

Super dry

Super Dry has become a bit bit of a 'dad brand' most teens I know wouldn't be seen in it.

TokyoSushi · 06/08/2023 14:53

I'm afraid DS is one of the 'all black' crew but he will branch out into a Montirex or Nike Miller t-shirt which are a bit more colourful!

TokyoSushi · 06/08/2023 14:54

Miler!

StillPerplexed · 06/08/2023 14:54

If his own style is more colourful and less conformist then by all means lean in to it, he doesn't need to be identikit. and it's a bit sad. If he wants more tropical shirts, House of Fraser have a whole high end section.

Cultural observations: The skinfade + northface jacket combo

13 year old DS will only wear T shirts from Jack Wills. I think he has every colour except black! He says they are the best material (he has sensory issues with clothes).
