Teen boys - what brands other than Nike / North Face do they like?

My DS doesn't like the all-black / all-grey Nike look. He likes more colour and isn't particularly sporty. I've bought lots from Hollister and A&F sales as they seem to be popular and he seems to like them, but I don't know what other teens would think. DS has bought some bright patterned "resort shirts" that he loves. Where else should we look for clothes?

Urban Outfitters do some really cool Men's t-shirts. Colourful ones with nice pictures on the front.

I mean, I'm not a cool teenage boy - nor do I have one 😂. But my 16 year old DD and I always look at the men's stuff in there and say how nice it is.

DH has some really good Carharrt t-shirts. He's obviously not a teenage boy either but he dresses like one!

Mine like like all of above but, somewhat bizarrely, are also fine with H&M where I get most of their stuff, if I'm paying.

They get loads of designer stuff second hand off depop (bop?) and vinted for not much. I make them out is straight in the washing machine for a freshen up before they wear it ...

Stüssy, Carhartt, Obey, Ralph Lauren, Supreme, definitely not Super Dry, or any brand now owned or stocked by sports direct

Hoppinggreen · 06/08/2023 15:52

Mine likes uniqlo

MoonLion · 06/08/2023 15:52

Quiksilver

Decafflatteplease · 06/08/2023 15:54

Under armour popular here

DaisyThistle · 06/08/2023 15:54

MY DC (also not super sporty) loved Uniqlo in their teens. Really interesting tees in lots of colours and designs, good range of jeans and chinos etc.

Most of their friends liked Jack Wills. My DC didn't but it was a popular brand.

CandyLeBonBon · 06/08/2023 17:51

I'm sorry @Invisimamma I'll let my son know that you consider him off trend. 🙄

Hellocatshome · 06/08/2023 17:54

It 100% depends on their peer group and geographical location. Some of the brands mentioned here are not considered cool amongst DS and his friends. They like Gym Shark, Monterrain Montirex, DSquared, Canada Goose, Moncler, Berghaus, Under Armour.

caringcarer · 06/08/2023 17:57

My very sporty teen has boycotted Nike in support of his sporty female friends not wanting to compete against transwomen. He likes New Balance and No Fear.

Gherkingreen · 06/08/2023 18:01

My older teen DSs are happy with a mix of TKMaxx for surf/skater brand tshirts , supermarket and H&M for basics and Vinted for random finds.
I like them in Vans stuff as it's decent quality. Older one likes Under Armour stuff for the gym.

cherryassam · 06/08/2023 18:09

I indulge my nephews in branded bits every now and again as I can remember their mother (my DSis) doing so for me when I was still a teen and she was a 20 something with a good job and disposable income.

One has most recently asked for Under Armour, North Face and Carhartt

The other has most recently asked for Napapijri, Santa Cruz and Patagonia

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/08/2023 18:13

H&M, Luke, Urban outfitters and Route One are favourites here

myextraordinarylife · 06/08/2023 19:40

Thanks! I have heard of most of these, but not all. Much to discover! He does lean in to the colourful clothes but also wants to not have the mickey taken out of him. I'd seen Champion and Lyle and Scott around, but those were "old geezer" brands when I was a teen, times have changed🤔

My DS 19 like colourful stuff, he has hoodies in orange, lilac and pink from urban outfitters. He likes Elements too, we got a lot from there and two seasons.

cherryassam · 06/08/2023 20:16

The stuff my nephew has asked for from Santa Cruz has been very colourful

dressedforcomfort · 07/08/2023 08:46

My DS is only 9 and not remotely label conscious, but he loves colour too. He loves Hype stuff. Quite a few younger teens wear it around here. Although don't see it as much on the older ones.

sunshine7981 · 07/08/2023 08:51

My 13 year old son likes the surf brands like rip curl and billabong

Westfacing · 07/08/2023 08:57

I took my grandson (17) to TKMax - he was very pleased with the Ted Baker green trousers!

iffyi · 15/08/2023 20:47

Starlightstarbright2 · 15/08/2023 20:49
