My god please someone tell me that this is normal.

It’s like the toddler years of coat-neglect has come full circle.

I suppose at least he agreed to leave the house?

@Taketheweather 😂

MsFogi · 11/08/2022 16:39

Sounds normal - I have vivid memories of boiling on a Menorcan beach in all black and doc marten boots, refusing to acknowledge that I might be boiling but fearing that anything 'summery' would not be 'cool'. I still cringe at the photos!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 11/08/2022 16:39

I'm on my 3rd they all do it 🙄

Although this one is only 11 and refuses a coat in any weather. Always a hoodie with the hood up though. The excitement when the school leavers hoodies arrived last Oct and he could wear hoodies to school was a joy to behold 😑

As pp said , man's not hot...

MsFogi · 11/08/2022 16:39

On the upside, he has left the house - trying to get my teens out of the house during summer hols is like trying to price a limpet off a stone.

Mine manages the contradiction of wearing shorts so short you can almost see what she's had for lunch, with an oversized fleecy sweatshirt inherited from her dad, which entirely covers up the shorts. And crocs, obviously.

Belledan1 · 13/08/2022 21:25

My just 15 year old wldnt wear shorts on UK holiday this year. Black trackies and dark top although he did have a bit colour one day. I bought some new ones from on line. Glad never took them out the packet. Sent them back

NeneValleySouth · 15/08/2022 12:11

15 year old in 33 degrees UK heat. Last year they were happy in the sea with a wetsuit, this year not a chance. Parasol a must.
At least they’ll not get sunburnt.
Teenagers have weird thermostats.

@NeneValleySouth that has made me laugh, teens are so funny.

No idea what the fk is wrong with teens last winter my dd now almost 15 totally refused to wear a coat and would go out in a thin tshirt insisting she was boiling when it was freezing and raining outside, I just could not get her to wear a coat. Now it's summer 30 degrees she says she's freezing and goes out in a hoodie and coat ffs. she also sat on the beach in the blazing sun in a hoodie!
I'd love to know why they do this.

99redballoonsgobyy · 21/08/2022 17:12

and love that pic @NeneValleySouth noticed the obligatory mobile phone is glued to their hand too. just like my teen! I dare'nt ask teen dd for a pic.

mumofblu · 23/08/2022 06:38

This made me laugh so much
Just returned from 2 week holiday in Greece where teen has put fake eyelashes on everyday , refused the pool because doesn't want hair to get wet and wore trainers with high socks on beach for 10 days when she left the room that is . Then spent last 4 days being dragged back into shade as decided to cook herself to get a tan while refusing sun protection

Mine insists that he needs ridiculously overpriced t-shirts for obscure BTCC drivers/teams and then puts a massive black hoodie on over them so they never see the light of day. He tried to go out in a hoodie and his padded winter jacket the other day, when it was about 29 degrees, and his friend has taken to wearing a hoodie lined with furry fleece at all times. Drives me nuts.

furryleopard · 23/08/2022 15:24

We were on the beach the other day, my 3 and 7 year old in shorts and t-shirts, when I spied a teenager in full 'goth' outfit - knee high docs, long black dress, dyed black hair, big trenchcoat thing. They were walking with their mum who was in shorts and a t-shirt, and family dog. I admired the commitment to be honest.

mamaduckbone · 24/08/2022 20:38

We laugh now at the year (yes, he was 14) when ds1 was at the beach in a full black tracksuit when the rest of us were in shorts and t-shirts. He got over it pretty quickly.
