My god please someone tell me that this is normal.

It’s like the toddler years of coat-neglect has come full circle.

I suppose at least he agreed to leave the house?

Yep... we've been through that phase too! Black jeans, and hoodie - on a beach in Thailand. Somehow in 5 years he's now turned into wear whatever and doesn't care!

Frenzi · 09/08/2022 19:27

Lol. I love teenagers. A constant source of amusement.

Mind you, I wouldn't have said that a couple of years ago when mine were still teenagers!

Mine went from one extreme to the other (both girls) - either covered up with joggers, hoodies and hats or prancing around in clothes that were hardly there!

ultraviolet4753 · 09/08/2022 19:31

I always get stared at on holiday as I have to wear gloves, jumper and a coat, I'm just so cold.
People kept asking if I was OK.

Queenofsummer · 10/08/2022 16:40

This is hilarious.

Thankfully my 14yo doesn't seem to do this at the moment, but I do see plenty of teens going around in hoodies and joggers in this heat. It makes me feel ill just looking at them.

mumonthehill · 10/08/2022 16:42

Ds 15 is wandering around in his fluffy jumper, he is also wearing a lot his fake Primark oodie, with shorts obviously!!!! They are odd things teenagers!

TokyoSushi · 08/08/2022 17:48

That's exactly it! The toddler years of coat neglect coming full circle!

Yes I liked this too Grin

We live in Cyprus. DD refuses to sleep in anything other than her Oodie & takes her thick fleecey blanket to the beach instead of a towel.

Seen secondary school kids walking to school in hoodies in 45 degree heat before now.

Awww I'm an ex army brat and lived in Dhekelia as a teen ... miss those days so so much!

Motherofalittledragon · 10/08/2022 21:06

My 13 year old dd is walking around with a hoodie zipped up even in this heat, absolute madness

MaChienEstUnDick · 11/08/2022 15:12

Felt the need to report back - it's 28 here (Hot for Scotland!) and DS is in a pair of shorts Shock

He is refusing to leave the house in them mind you, but still. Shorts!

gogohmm · 11/08/2022 15:27

Don't worry in 2 years time he'll be going on nights out into town in shirt in snowGrin

Zott · 11/08/2022 15:31

DD15 is wearing a long flannel nightie and long joggers underneath. If she wants to cool down she stands in a basin with an inch of cold water. 33 degrees here. Watched Murder on the Orient Express on the sofa wrapped in her duvet yesterday (it’s a cold movie you see). She seems happy.

gogohmm · 11/08/2022 15:31

I'm telling our young ladies that they need to put some clothes on we have guests soon ... all are adults technically and are sitting in the shortest cycling shorts and sports bras/bikini tops complaining - I've just got back from the beach and it's cooler there (5 mins walk) which they are welcome to go to to avoid the visitors

hagelslaagfiend · 11/08/2022 15:35

My 12yr old DS is facing 34 degrees in jeans and long sleeved tops and fleece pyjamas in the evenings. Doesn't want to expose any flesh. Bless him.

Autumn101 · 11/08/2022 15:36

Mine is the opposite, happily wearing shorts and t-shirt which he was also wearing in the depths of winter. His younger brother is the same, I have a picture of them picking out our Christmas tree last year, both in shorts 😂 every year I resolve to not bother buying coats as they just get stuffed in a bag but I feel too neglectful to not at least give them the option!

Autumn101 · 11/08/2022 15:38

I would add they don’t run warm or anything, they feel cold but apparently it’s too much effort to put layers of clothes on 🙄

TinaYouFatLard · 11/08/2022 15:41

14 year old DD spent the day at an out door shopping centre in Florida wearing a hoodie the other day. I could see the sweat pouring but she refused to cave and take it off!

SirenSays · 11/08/2022 15:45

I had a boyfriend as a teen who used to wear a huge leather coat everywhere. He looked such a muppet on the beach in it 🤣

HibiscusIsland · 11/08/2022 15:50

It can be a confidence thing. I can remember over dressing because I'd been teased about having pale skin and was self conscious

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/08/2022 15:51

I don’t have kids but I see the teens walking down to the bus stop.

Winter = White shirt, blazer. No hat or gloves. Girls in skirts and tights.

Summer = Hoodies. Girls still in thick tights so maybe uniform?

I watch them thinking your mums must be baffled as they slope off in a hoodie in July.

JimmiChoux · 11/08/2022 15:57

Whadda · 08/08/2022 17:14

It never did Kevin and Perry any harm 😃

That's exactly what I was thinking 😂

ArticSaviour · 11/08/2022 15:59

Aged 14 I sat on the beach with jeans and a long sleeved flannel shirt on, determined not to show an inch of skin. I was persuaded to take my baseball boots off though.

Huge mistake. Sunburnt ankles. It fucking knacked.

Poachedeggs1 · 11/08/2022 16:26

I sympathise. My 14 year old wore his socks around the pool & on the beach last week. Wouldn’t take them off. Sat at dinner a few nights with a hoodie on, said he was cold. Teenagers 🙄😂

Taketheweather · 11/08/2022 16:31

Aw, glad to hear about his progress OP. Hope he enjoyed the sea.

Twas ever thus. I remember being round a friend's house and as we made to leave her mum saying "well I would tell you to wear sunscreen but I know that you pair never take off your black tights and biker jackets so there's no point is there'.

Taketheweather · 11/08/2022 16:34

.

serenghetti2011 · 11/08/2022 16:36

My son is the same probably roasting on the beach with his Friends the eejit
I never used to feel the heat as a kid was always cold so likely gets it from me
