Feel really bad I just shouted at DS 17 and called him a little shit

DS 17 currently lounges about in bed all day watching nextflix. I’m nagging him to get up and be productive.

Last night I caught him smoking a spliff out of his bedroom window and I went mad. I have a rule which is absolutely no drugs or smoking in the house. He just went ‘sor - ree’ like off Kevin and Perry. Today he phoned me from his bedroom for a bacon bap.

I stormed upstairs and called him a lazy shit. He looked genuinely taken aback. I feel really bad as he lost his job last week and I know he’s gutted. Should I just move on? I don’t like any kind of discord in the house.

I feel like I need to be supportive by helping him with his CV and look for jobs but he’s just making me so very cross 😡

I had forgotten how presumptuous so many posters are - he lost his job as he was no longer needed, the company had lost a lot of business and there wasn’t enough work for him to do, not because he’s a lazy shit or smokes

Ha ha yes indeed! I texted my other one to make me a ‘snowball’ with ice the other day. It was quite nice

To be fair, if you're not bothered about living with "a lazy shit", then that's your business. But you came on here saying that you "stormed" upstairs and how "cross" you are. Then you started a rant at people for mislabelling your son as a lazy shit and saying how cross everyone else was. 🤔

So now, I've gone from thinking your son is taking the piss to thinking your son is doing right staying out of the way of his irrational mother. Maybe you're accusing him wrongly too. 😏

Op post took me back to when my youngest was 17. I still have the birthday card I bought but decided not to give him in the end. It has a signpost with the word TWAT on it. Now married with a lovely dd and just turned 33. He’s so appreciative these days!

Glad you got it sorted OP. Mine (19yo) was an absolutely tremendous arse about ten days ago. I bit my tongue, waited two days and he suddenly gave me a present 'just because' and said he gets bored and frustrated in the uni holidays. He's old enough to know right from wrong and pretty much always gets there in the end. Most of them do. Being young and unemployed must be fucking scary. Hope your DS finds something good.
