Literally as the titles suggests.

What age did your children (both girls and boys) COMPLETELY stop growing please?

Thanks

I think girls are generally supposed to stop by about 15; DD hasn't since she was about 14, at 5ft 5.5z

Almost 15 year old DS is 6ft (at least) and I'm not sure he's stopped - I think boys tend to grow until 16 or so...

TheVanguardSix · 25/02/2021 00:54

My 19-year-old is still growing but not much longer, I don't think. I stopped at around 22 but I didn't start my periods until I was 16. I don't know if that makes a difference, how late your puberty is.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 25/02/2021 01:02

Apparently boys can keep growing up until about 21 ish Shock
DS1 (16) doesn't seem to have grown for a year or so though.

Student133 · 25/02/2021 01:05

My mum is an endocrine nurse. Shes said Girls tend to stop growing by 15, with boys it can be up to early 20s, and its around this time they bulk out a lot too, so they may not be any taller from 18, but may get broader.

Madhairday · 25/02/2021 01:10

My DS 17 is still growing, has slowed down a bit but I've noticed he's still getting taller/feet still growing too. No idea when he'll stop...

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2021 01:12

I've three sons. I think they all finally stopped growing at around 21. They are all tall, between 6ft and 6'3.

I'm a tall woman, 5'10 and didn't stop growing until I was 18. I started my periods at 13, so not late. I was 5'9 at 16, then slowly grew another inch.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/02/2021 11:57

ds(17) has sprouted 2" and gone up another shoe size in the last 6 months. 6ft2in now and size 12.5 shoes so hopefully soon.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/02/2021 12:02

eldest DD was 17 when periods started and stopped growing almost instantly,Dd (17 in 2months)started periods at 14 andstill growing,D's(15) seems taller by the day, youngest DD is 13,had periods a year and has significantly slower growth(did shoot up massively before they started)

RuthW · 26/02/2021 12:05

Thank you all. It seems there are really no hard and fast rules!

DS1 is 6’5” & 17 (I’m 6’ and DH is 5’8”), I’m kind of hoping he’s done growing but these responses make me wonder!?

DenisetheMenace · 26/02/2021 23:46

Our daughter stopped at around 20. 18 year old son still going strong, both height and feet. Much more so than when he was younger.

tearsforfears72 · 27/02/2021 16:41

My DS is 17 and well over 6 foot now. He seems to still be growing slightly but definitely slower than he was at 15/16, when he just shot up! DD19 stopped growing at around 15, she’s 5’3, and DD16 also seems to have stopped growing at 5’4. I’m 5’3 myself so I don’t expect either of them to get any taller.

Angrymum22 · 27/02/2021 16:57

DS16 has always been tall for his age so would grow by approx 10cms a year until he hit 14 then grew by about 30cms over a 12 month period.
Some of his friends appear to have much more adult physique and facial features whereas DS still looks very adolescent. I suspect he still has another 10cms growth to go.
I think tall people take longer to reach their full height so development is often slower. Growth rate is probably the same but to reach 6ft4 takes longer than to reach 5ft5. They may be taller than friends the same age but are less advanced in their development. All DS’s friends with tall parents ( well over 6ft fathers) seem to follow this pattern.

cabbageking · 28/02/2021 01:59

Both daughters stopped about 19. They were always tall.

grassisjeweled · 28/02/2021 02:03

I grew an inch when I was 19. Stopped at 5'5 (woman)

RedGoldAndGreene · 28/02/2021 11:54

Dd is 17 and has been her current height since 14.
Ds is 19 and been his current height since 16/17
Ds2 is 14 and is taller each time I see him.

EventuallyDeleted · 28/02/2021 12:03

DD stopped at about 11, she was the tallest in her form group when she started secondary, now she's second smallest about 5'1 at 15yo. We both still hope she might have a late spurt. DS (17) is 5'4" and still gradually growing, he'd like to be taller too. They hardly ever have to buy new clothes and shoes though.

minniemoocher · 28/02/2021 12:04

Varies, one of my DD's 15, one was 18

minniemoocher · 28/02/2021 12:05

Ps both my girls were late starting their periods, I've read there's a link - Dd1 was 16, grew until 18

MoiraNotRuby · 28/02/2021 12:10

You know how when you buy a gadget, you can insure it for an extra fiver, don't you wish you could do that with teenagers shoes when you don't know if their feet are going to grow more? Deciding what size trainers to get for 16yo DS is a right pain. The ones that fit exactly or the ones with a little growing room??...

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 28/02/2021 12:21

One DD was about 14, one about 15. They really wanted to keep growing (shorties) so kept getting me to check.

imjackieweaver · 28/02/2021 12:50

My dd was told by her consultant that she could stop worrying about damaging the growth plates in her bones at 15/16.

IhaveNotBroughtMySpecsWithMe · 28/02/2021 13:02

I was 13 when I stopped growing (I'm tall). DC 1 was about 19 and the other is still growing!
