Just found DD15's stash

....in her bedroom. Was sorting out washing and found weed (smells of bubblegum) in a small plastic bag in a sealed tupperware together with what looks like an oversized golfing tee (?). Have removed offending items. Knew she was having a crafty fag now and then but thought that was it. She's due in from school any minute. What to do/say?

She'll just buy more

Better to just have a rational discussion about not becoming addicted or dependant on fags or any other substances and try and have a chat about what else her friends might be trying and how she feels about it all.

She'll be safer if you can have an open relationship and you can support her to build and reinforce her own boundaries - you can't actually stop her and it's more dangerous if she dabbles in drugs and keeps it hidden.

Bubblegum kush is a delicious, light strain that has a pleasant balance of CBD to THC and tends to be popular in the US as a mood elevator. Bloody hard to get in the UK, she's got good links.

I’d be tempted to remove it but not say anything for now while you think it over. Doubt she will ask you where it is?!

Yeah that's weed and a pipe. Likely she's sprayed it with something to mask the scent. At least she isn't smoking it in spliffs with tobacco, very sensible Smile Smile Smile

@mansneverhot yes, we do have open frank discussions about stuff so i suppose that's all we can do really. keep the dialogue going. Although of late she has been not sleeping very well and doesn't seem as focused on school as she once was.

It was hidden in a tub of mints. I don't want to start laying the law down especially as i did the odd spliff as a student (although much older!) It's a bloody minefield. On the other hand don't think she should get off scot free.

i suppose I could just go "ta dah, what's this then?" and go from there.

That's weed and a weed pipe I think. My brother had one I found when he lived with me. I hate drugs but most people I know do them and that's defo weed. Its normally quite potent a d doesn't smell off bubblegum

If I was you I would definitely enforce a consequence. Nothing massively harsh but enough to let her know it’s not ok at her age.

Yes that's weed. I've spent a couple of evenings cutting a crop of it in my twenties.

I could have written your post about 8 years ago. And yes me and DH have had more than the odd spliff in our time so we had a bit of a chuckle and congratulated ourselves we'd dealt with it well.

But since then weed has messed up a big chunk of my DD's life, though thankfully she seems to be well over it now.

Just don't take it too lightly OP and don't be complacent.

Why are you pussyfooting around her OP? She’s fifteen - not an adult. By your own admission her school work and sleep are suffering. Your posts suggest it’s all a lark with no consequence

Not at all. A few things are now falling into place and making a bit more sense. She also frequently complains of having no money. Just need appropriate level of punishment.
