user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 13:36

My 16yr old DD wants to watch the new minions movie, however I've never seen any of the minions movies and worried it is too inappropriate based on some pictures I've seen shared around social medias. I've included some pictures in case anyone is unsure what I'm referencing. Do I let her go???

Is it not a PG or something? Of course it's fine for a 16 year old!

MVLipwig · 09/07/2017 13:40

I feel like you're a really pointless troll? But they're children's films, those aren't quotes from the films and even if they were she's 16.

dementedpixie · 09/07/2017 13:42

In fact Despicable Me 3 is a U. Those memes are unrelated to the film itself

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 13:43

Thank you both! I'm unsure of the rating so I thought I'd ask other parents to see if anyone else was concerned like me. I will definitely let her go nowSmile

Wow 😂😂

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 09/07/2017 13:46

Sorry OP, but I have to register my laughter!! Grin Where have you been?!

Ps you should watch the films yourself too

BigSandyBalls2015 · 09/07/2017 13:48

What other stuff do you not let her do at 16?

ItsNachoCheese · 09/07/2017 13:48

😂😂😂 my niece who is 5 loves the minions as does my 2yr old ds. We watched minions this morning. Yabu

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 13:48

Very rude and unecessary BigSandyBalls2015. Can't really blame me for being sceptical as I haven't seen the movies and my only knowledge of them was from the inappropriate images. Please think twice before you judge a parents concerns.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge, I know I do feel a bit silly now! Might have to go watch the movie with her to catch up on what I've missed😂

Are you for real? It's a U which as you have access to the internet you could have found out for yourself. It's aimed at young children and.if anything I would worry about your 16 year old wasting money on a film they will be bored by (it is no where near as funny as previous Dispicable Me films)

user1499604508 · 09/07/2017 13:52

Where's the love at?? Clearly not hearing about the movie or finding up on it I'm sure she has a reason to be concerned over those pictures and not wanting her child to see that, regardless of age! At least now she knows and can make an informed decision, were supposed to support each other not laugh and bring other mums down x

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 13:53

Thank you ineedamoreadultieradult, I'll let her know it may not be as good but she seems very excited now that I've said she can go!

Did you not google to check the rating? They are kids movies!

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 13:54

Thank you very much user1499604508! We need more women like you to show love and respect to other mums! We struggle enough as it is, we don't need more hate to drag us down and make our life harder!!!Grin

OP posts:
AdalindSchade · 09/07/2017 13:55

Even if those were quotes from the movie they are very tame for a 16 year old! Would you really ban your 16 year old from a film that contains the word shit?

coffeecoffee14 · 09/07/2017 13:55

😂😂 its a kids film rated as a U.

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 13:55

AdalindSchade If you read the rest of the post you'll see that I'm well informed now, thank you though for your contributionSmile

If anyone was unsure about my concerns, I don't want my DD sharing the ideologies of the images I posted and becoming hateful towards other people! I've always tried to promote loving attitudes to her and I didn't want her beautiful personality and care for others to be ruined by this movie! But now I know that it's a kids movie and there's no reason for me to be worriedSmile

AdalindSchade it isn't the words I'm uncomfortable with, it's the context in which they are used.

Those pictures you've shown us? They're called memes, mate. Google it.

They're entirely unrelated to the CHILDREN'S film that is Despicable Me.

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 14:04

WhatToDoAboutThis2017, are you just trying to cause more drama? As you can see if you read the previous comments(which I'm guessing you didn't as you still posted this comment?), the issue has been completely resolved and I know they aren't related to the film as I have just read reviews of the previous films.

OP posts:
WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 09/07/2017 14:06

I read the previous comments. None of them mentioned the fact that those images are memes, hence why I mentioned them.

user1499603047 · 09/07/2017 14:08

Whether they were 'memes' or not wasn't the problem it was whether they were from the film, which you mentioned in your comment, which had also been mentioned in other comments.

MargoChanning · 09/07/2017 14:09

At 16 she should be able to choose which films she wants to see herself, including those rated at 15.
