Hiya all, I'm a bit worried about my 13 year old at the moment. She kept complaining of sore throat and feeling sick at the weekend thought it was just a cold or something but kept her off Monday as she did look quite pale. Monday evening and she hadn't eaten all day, had a look at her throat and she had loads of mouth ulcers and one on her throat! Anyway she was sick on Tuesday and Wednesday and saying she felt really dizzy, took her to the doctors and they are saying it's just because the mouth ulcers! She's now woke up this morning with a rash all over her and not even speaking she's that unwell. The schools moaning at me because she has been off all week and I really have no clue what's wrong with her! What would you all say it is?? Thank you and any advice will be much appreciated!

Phone them back. She needs to be seen. Make a fuss. If that doesn't work, then i would be taking her to A&E. Tell the GP you will take her to A&E if they don't see her. Tell them you are willing to come at the end/start of surgery times and sit and wait. or just take her down there and say you are going to wait to see a GP. Good luck.

IPlayBass · 15/05/2015 10:07

Oh yes, she definitely has to be seen. They should be able to fit her in as an emergency at the gp.

GlitterTwinkleToes · 15/05/2015 10:08

Hi OP, I have exactly the same symptoms.
After going back to the doctors and OOH I have finally been diagnosed with a bacterial infection and now on 500g of Amoxicillin. Get her seen straight away, have you got a walk in centre nearby?
I've suffered with this for three weeks and only just starting to get my voice back!!
Hope she's feeling better soon, there is something doing the rounds here which a lot of people have come down with

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 10:52

Thank you everyone been on the phone to the doctors for last half an hour they are saying that because it's coming up to the weekend all emergency appointments are taken too! There is no point in me going up there to ask them as they are pathetic. Wondering whether to take her to a&e?? She is lying there saying she feels really dizzy and weak with a migraine she hasn't been sick today but need to do something!!

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 11:52

I had lots of mouth ulcers and felt weak and dizzy with glandular fever. Get her to the Doctor.

Ejzuudjej · 15/05/2015 11:55

Best to take her to be on the safe side I think.

outtolunchagain · 15/05/2015 11:59

Call 111 they will call your GP and tell them they have to see her .If you go to A&e your GP will be penalised so alternatively ring GP back , tell them you are so worried you are going to A&e they will probably offer to see you

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 12:12

Yes think I will take her up A&E she's having a warm bath now to see if that makes her feel any better. was thinking it could be glandular fever actually ??. The more time I'm on the phone to the useless doctors the worse she's deeling and don't want to see her like this!!

OP posts:
ILovedYouYesterday · 15/05/2015 12:41

Please do take her to A&E.

I am not an expert and don't mean to scare you but those symptoms sound like sepsis (which can start with a mild infection) and, if it was my DD, I would take her to A&E now, tell them that's what I was concerned about and request blood tests asap.

www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Blood-poisoning/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

I hope it's not that serious but I wouldn't wait any longer.

Justusemyname · 15/05/2015 12:49

Does the rash Blanche?

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 13:09

The rash is basically gone but all the same symptoms still dizzy, blurred vision, weakness, can't get her breath, and saying has pain in spine.

Polyethyl · 15/05/2015 13:12

If you can't find a GP, out of hours doctor nor walk in centre to go to - then definitely go to A&E. She NEEDS to see a professional.

CheeseandGherkins · 15/05/2015 13:14

If she is struggling to breathe then go to a&e or call an ambulance.

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 13:15

Yes I have given up with the doctors we are going to get a lift up A&E in a bit I think. Wish I knew what this was so scary.

OP posts:
Baddz · 15/05/2015 13:17

If she is struggling to breathe call an ambulance.
Now

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 13:18

Watching her very carefully at the moment ??

OP posts:
Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 13:22

She's asleep again now but my friend is finishing work soon and taking us there so she can look after my youngest. If breathing gets worse then will call ambulance.

OP posts:
MrsSquirrel · 15/05/2015 13:48

GL Strawberry Brew. Absolutely right to go to a&e.
Hope she gets the care she needs and starts feeling better soon.

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 13:52

Thank you everyone for being so helpful will tell you all how it goes hope we don't have to stay overnight though! ??

OP posts:
jeee · 15/05/2015 13:56

Please make sure you let slip that you tried to get a GP's appointment - they're letting A&E pick up their slack (and it would have been a lot more comfortable for your dd had she been able to go to her doctors rather than sit around in A&E). Certainly, when my GP sent us to A&E for a broken toe, A&E were annoyed with the GP, and told me that the GP would be charged for the visit.

I hope your dd feels better soon.

Strawberrybonbon3 · 15/05/2015 14:02

Jeee I will definitely mention that to A&E as its terrible that we have to take her up there because of their terrible service! Sooner I know what this is the better!!

OP posts:
CoffeeBeanie · 15/05/2015 14:06

I would have called an ambulance if she is struggling to breathe. Please wake her up and if she is still so unwell call 999.
