Thanks everyone. Our school is in such a mess, its been hell for the last two years. In two years it has seen one headmaster and one principle leave without explanation, has failed its Ofsted and been put into special measures, twice in two years. I feel my three have had a very rough time, they are now on day 4 of gcse`s and are till having to stay late for catch up sessions. I actually e mailed the school two days ago, requesting a leavers date, no reply...........no surprise. I do feel very tempted to seriously that pricing up a holiday in July before the schools break for the summer.

I'd be so tempted to email in a couple of days and say as they haven't replied you have had to go ahead and book!
I'm so glad to hear your good news. You so deserve a lovely holiday.

Why are you still thinking about this ?

just book the holiday now and have a fab time !

Triplets - I feel for you. Our school has also been into special measures but was removed in January after just under a year. It makes for a stressful time for everyone concerned - children, parents and staff. Having three children in one school year must make it even harder. Are they catch up sessions or simply extra revision? Have they done all the necessary coursework? My DS is offered lots of revision sessions next week as well as pre-exam breakfast/revision sessions on some exams days. They have covered all the work but this is just a further attempt to help the children reach their full potential - after all schools on or just out of special measures desperately need results to show improvement! Have you booked your holiday?! There must be some good bargains if you can go in early July - I know I would if I didn't have a DS in year 10 too.

Triplets don't think about it for a minute longer. Book the much deserved holiday. Great news!

mummytime · 21/05/2014 13:52

Just book it!
Are your triplets staying there next year? If not what is the worst they can do? If they are, well if yours get good results and stay I can see the school being desperate to keep them.

My DCs very academic school is on study leave now for GCSEs, and only has them in for 1 or 2 days induction at the very end of June. I'm hoping to take my year 11 away to a special event next year myself. (With nothing like as good a reason as yours.)

Hi everyone and thank you for your kind words :) Finally got a letter from school today explaining what yr 11 will be doing. All it said was after the last exam, 13th June the students will be in school on a reduced timetable............!!!! So I phone up and spoke to the secretary who said she would find out for sure and ring me back. She did, and said that it was likely they would have to come in for some days after their gcses but unlikely they will be in school from the beginning of July. My dd wants to stay on at 6th form until she is 18 then go to at college or uni. One of my boys is halfway through his application to go to Harrogate Army College in Sept, the other is also half way through his application to join the Royal Marines Band Service also in Sept. Phew! So a nice relaxing family holiday together would be nice. My dd is adamant she wont go on a cruise because she gets seasick! So a July holiday it is, just got to find the right thing!:)

Hello everyone! A quick update! We did go on holiday to Puerto Pollensa for 10 nights, got back last week and it was just bliss :) Since then my ds has just been selected to go to Harrogate Army College next March, so proud of him. My other son failed his medical for the Marine Band Service, he is underweight and is wearing a dental brace!!! He now has to re-apply for Sept 15, he was gutted. My dd is going back to 6th form, studying art/textiles and graphics..........I think I am getting there!!
