Anyone with teenagers expecting GCSE results tomorrow - do yours go in to school to collect them or will they arrive in the post?

DS (16) gets his tomorrow morning and needless to say, he is so laid back about them he's almost horizontal. He's staying over at a friend's house tonight and they are all going in at the same time tomorrow to collect them - wish they were posted out so that I could be there when he opens them. (((stamps foot))) What happens in your area?

DD2 (16) gets hers tomorow. She is meeting her friends on the green near their school at 8.30, then they are all going in to collect them as soon as the school opens.
This is a child who does not like early mornings!

Ours pick them up from school from 10am onwards.

Wonder how long we'll wait tomorrow for that phone call to tell us how they did?! DS's school opens at 10am so I'll be sat by the phone drumming my fingers at 10.01....although knowing DS and his friends, they'll oversleep and miss it all! Think I may just give him an alarm call in the morning just in case!

Just about to phone him - they didn't leave his friend's house til gone 10 (surprise!!)so they should be there now with their envelopes in their hot little hands!

I collected my GCSE results on my birthday!

My ds1 finally got a C in Maths (this is his 3rd go).....and he's 18 tomorrow . So please for him as his a levels results were crap

i had to collect mine in '99.

My dd did better than expected (she has had a horrible year ) Thankfully she has got what she needs to get onto the college course she has chosen

Well done to all who have got what they wanted - ds2 has just phoned (an hour and 10 minutes later than expected) to say he has got an A* in Maths (only one he did this yr)
God what a relief - not looking forward to next yr though!

Just got off the phone to DS (sounds absolute bedlam at school!). He got 1 B, 4 Cs, 4 Ds and an F in French (bless him - he hated every minute of that class!) so he's got what he needs to get into 6th Form so I'm pleased for him, especially as he was in America for what should have been Yr 9 for him so he's done well considering.

Well done to your DS SMBK! I think I'm going to have to really persuade my DS to retake his Maths as that was one of his Ds.

So pleased your DD got what she needed Winnie - good for her!

My dd 15 has gone with a friend to collect her maths result. My ds 16 isn't even out of bed yet - don't know when he's going to go for his.

Congratulations to everyone who has passed their GCSE's.
DD2 is a bit upset as she thinks her results are bad. We have all told her that she has done well. She needed to get 5 A-C's to do the course she wants to at college. She did get this but one ogf them is only a short course one. She phoned the college and they said she sill had a place. She will find out on enrollement day if she still do the course she chose.
Any way she got three B's. 2 C's 4'D's and 2 E's.
College has just phoned and said she should be able to the corses she wants as she got the higher Grades in the subjects she wants to do.
She will probably have to re-sit Maths which she is willing to do.
Well I@m off now to go and have a cofee and cake with her at the local cafe.

well done to everyone's not so little ones. It must be horrible being a parent on these days. My dd is taking two GCSEs next year, Statistics and English Language. She is doing them both in year 9, so I am dreading it.
Anyway I GOT AN A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I am just so exited, I can't believeit, and it has spurred me on to go and do the A level next term.!!

Mumeeee - enjoy your coffee and cake with DD, so pleased she can still do what she wants to do at college. My DS will (reluctantly!) be re-taking maths as well, it's quite an important one isn't it?

Thanks for the hugs of encouragement. I was surprised at the way we were given the results though, (sorry to bore you) I went into a room with the friend I did the course with. A man just inside asked what my friend wanted, she told him GCSE results, he took her name and DOB and checked his wad of paper and said "you gor an A". I then had to do the same and was dreading him saying "you've got a U"! I thought we would get them in an envelope, or maybe that gets posted to us. Never mind, well done to all.

Just got back from taking DS2 out for a couple of hours and ended up having coffee and cake at the cafe in the park....can't think what put that in my mind?! That's a bit of a daunting way to get your results isn't it SWND?! Ok if you've done well but, as you said, bit of a bummer if you failed spectacularly (as I think back to when I got a U in Physics - definitely not one of my stronger subjects). Are you studying with a particular goal in mind or just for fun? When I told DS1 I am starting an A level in Sept "just for fun" he replied that now he definitely knows I've lost the plot. Erm, thanks for that!!

Misspiggy, what are you taking your course in? I think it's fantastic that people go back to study later. I am now inspired to take the A level Biology starting in September.
Christie, that must be very daunting, I don't think I will ever get that far. This all started with a friend and I saying we really should go to college, both having been SAHMs for about 13years. We decided on this course because we are both interested in human biology and thought it better to do something we quite liked than maths for instance, and now Im really pleased I did.

DS2 is my 10 year old who is boooooorrrred with the holidays so we decided to get out of the house (and me away from the PC, thought it was meant to be the kids who have too much screen time!)while there was a break in the rain. DS1 (the exam taker!)is currently in bed recharging his batteries for going out tonight, oh for a social life like that again and the energy to pull it off!

Hope your DS enjoys the Artic Monkeys Christie. Isn't it strange how you suddenly feel the need to use your brain after years of not studying? I must admit I'm a bit nervous about whether I'll be able to cope with an A level, never mind a Masters Degree like you but I'm really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed for your results in Sept, bet the wait is killing you!!

I'm taking AS level psychology SWND. It's something that's always interested me and that I read a lot of books on. DH and DSs get sick of me doing my amateur psych analysis thing on them, poor things!

How come you can now do some GCSEs earlier? Does it depend on the school? Only interested as we never had a choice in things like this!

Blondilocks, I did O'levels early. I don't think it is a new thing.
