Anyone with teenagers expecting GCSE results tomorrow - do yours go in to school to collect them or will they arrive in the post?

DS (16) gets his tomorrow morning and needless to say, he is so laid back about them he's almost horizontal. He's staying over at a friend's house tonight and they are all going in at the same time tomorrow to collect them - wish they were posted out so that I could be there when he opens them. (((stamps foot))) What happens in your area?

bondilocs, it depends on the school. More and more are letting more advanced kids sit some exas a year early.

We do it, for example, if we have a child who's mother tongue is not english, they may sit a MIL GCSE in their mother tongue as early as year 9.

I'm not sure tbh. I do know that some if the kids who 'go early' don't do as well as they would if they waited a year. Some schools are keen to do this so that they can get kids to do more than 9 GCSEs and bump up their grades.

Personaly I would rather my kids to do the exams at the expected times, and do more out of school stuff, sports, D of E etc

Hiya
I don't know anything other than what my dd is doing. The school has an accelerated set in each year and have decided to let them do Yr 9 Sats in Yr 8. They now have a funny year whereby they are not doing any maths only statistics, and are dropping art and music for the year. They will take English Lit and Statistics GCSE this next school year and continue on to do the 'normal' ones at the normal time. It is as MB says a way of bumping their results and for the kids to possibly gain more GCSEs. Not sure if I like it, but dd is so much more suited to the set she's in than in any other.

I did English Lit & Lang & French a year early, then 7 more at 16, plus Economics in November of Upper sixth & general Studies in July - so although I have 12 O levels I fel a bit of a cheat compared to my ds & dd who did 11 at once.

Well done Shewhoneverdusts. My DD got her results differently to you.,she went with her friends to school and they were given printed results slips from eash exam board and they had the subjects and results on them. She needs this as she has to take them to college when she enrolls.
Misspiggy I did enjoy my coffee and cake with DD. It was good to spend time chatting to her as we hardly ever do this.
We are having a Pizza Takeaway for the family celebration tonight which includes big sisters boyfriend. We didn't do this last night as she went to her friends party.
She might have to resit maths as she got an E in this and the college like them to have C or above. She will find out on enrollement day.
