I thought my ds1(whos nearly 15) and his gf would last 10 mins but they have been going out since beg April.They are soooo in lurvve,its scary.he's even written a piece of homework for school about her.All about how she lights up his life and how it's possible to find the love of your life at 14 etc.

We have done the contraception talk and i suggest you do the same

not panicing about that just yet she is only 12.
I have already given him the "talk" and he knows he can come to me or his dad. but I hope that is not for at least 2 yrs(4 in her case)

hoping doesn't stop it happening - get some leaflets and some condoms - he's not going to buy them. give them to him and say " this is by no means allowing you to have sex. please dont. if you do i dont want to be a grandmother and i dont want you do die of AIDs or get an STD which makes your penis pussy and sore and makes it hurt like a knife is going up it when you wee - which is what happens if you have sex without a condom. are we clear? good. remember if you have a baby you will be working non stop for the next 30 years to support that baby, you will never get a chance to go to a festival or to go to ibiza, getting drunk will be very infrequent and you will hardly ever get a chance to have a night out. the baby wakes up every 2 - 3 hours and it shits green. yes green. you will be changing nappies for the next 3 years whilst your mates have neough money to buy a car and driving lesson ARE WE CLEAR?

Presidentocustardo I agree with what you are saying,. but give him a chance this is his first girlfriend and he is not a "mature" 14yr old iynwim
as she is only 12 I will be more likely to tell him if he did that he could end up in court.
when things move along and his girlfriends are older I will be going down that road.
FOR future ref would you say buy them and give them to him or get him to ask when needed.

Her being 12 has nothing to do with it.I live in West Lothian where the girl of 12 has just had a baby.Your 14 yr old may seem not very mature but you just don't know how they could be with friends/gf etc.

Agree with custardo about the condoms,better safe than sorry even if you feel nothing will happen.

I kmow it may not be appropriate yet - but I would go for giving condoms, along with a leaflet for the place where he can get refils free - once he does start using them he may be too embarresed to ask (no matter how open you think you all are)

I recently gave my sister some after she admited going without with her boyfriend - she is 13 and has been with him for year . She told me it didn't matter if she got pg as they are in love and he would stand by her...

Luckily I have 4 children and no partner - and lots of history so was able to illustrate the point quite nicely (in graphic detail as dd3 got ill that night...)

Lots of 12 yr olds are sexually active and pg atm.I worked in the post natal/delivery suite in our local hosp a few yrs back and i met a few girls of that age who were pg.A girl near our town who is only just 12 has been taken into care with her 6 week old baby.
It's not something you want to think about but as the mum of a nearly 15 yr old i had contraception talks with him much younger than that.

i have done contraceptive talk with my 11 and 13 year olds -9 year old lingering too!!!
i think first girlfriend - using mums phone to text - she is 12 .... maybe being naive! i am not usually ...maybe its the heat !!! (thats a point its too hot for sex!!!)

My ds1,the nearly 15yr old went to gf's house yesterday to watch a dvd and they both "fell asleep" on her bed.Dp was but we have talked to him about sex and condoms etc and i reckon we can only trust him now.I can't lock him up can i? Hmmmm maybe i could? Dp thinks they shouldn't ever be alone and that i am niave too.Dunno maybe i am but don't want to alienate him altogether,he's stroppy enough atm lol.
