My eldest boy, Liam wears the shoes below to school. I want to polish them but he won't let me. What should I do? Why wont he let me?

Do you mean these?
I would just leave them tbh.

crazynanna · 05/07/2013 20:16

Lads will be lads.

Is he holding up his trousers in the picture?

WorrySighWorrySigh · 05/07/2013 22:58

DS's school shoes look like they have been sanded. His cadet boots shine like glass.

They know where to focus the effort.

Don't worry about it! :)

(By the way, put double brackets like these around web addresses to make them show as hyperlinks! :) )

stealthsquiggle · 07/07/2013 22:36

They look like my 10yo's shoes. Not worth stressing about.

His trousers are too short, though (unless he is holding them up)

Chloe1989 · 08/07/2013 11:43

It's not ''cool'' to have clean shoes. I've known people buy shoes and deliberately dirty them to look worn in. Sad I know.

MrsMongoose · 15/07/2013 01:41

Either just do it when he's out and prepare for the wrath, or get over the fantasy of having a smart, put together teenager.

I wouldn't be going out of my way to spoil my child's attempts to conform either. Secondary school can be rough if you don't look right. Sad but true - we remember Will from the Inbetweener's briefcase!

MumOfthree33 · 23/07/2013 06:30

Thanks all, I just can't bear the thought that he goes to school in them though!!

Don't worry about it, you have to pick your battles and this one isn't worth it
