I have 3 teenagers, they are 13 (boy) 14.5 (girl) and 15.5 (girl) I shall mostly be talking about:

Food - how much do they sodding eat?

The fact that they are sullen introverted beasts whenever you want to go somewhere or do something - but as SOON as you sit down to watch something that YOU would like to see on YOUR tv they rock up and witter at you nonstop about various fascinating topics ( "Have you heard about X who's got this amazing youtube channel, it's hilarious..." "You know my friends neighbours aunts cousins daughter, well she....." "I made this awesome axe on minecraft....")

The constant sneering derision about my life/clothes/interests but if my stuff isn't nailed down it gets 'borrowed'.

The many and varied prima donna moments over the most trivial of things " Where are the black tights, I HATE you, you're controlling and you've got me under house arrest..."

Their pits aka bedrooms aka health hazards

The fact that if I need a charger for something or my headphones they have been appropriated

And finally, that unlike toddlers they are in your face until nearly bloody midnight!!

And with 3 of them there is a non stop caravan of hormones, drama, requests for cash, hormones, tantrums, hormones.

I think that's about it for now.

They are only out of bed cos my sis is taking them out for the day, they are going to Thorpe Park. However,Ds1 is still not dressed. And I should have left for work 7 minutes ago.

I've got my stopwatch on, he has 3 minutes to be in the car otherwise I am leaving him to get the bus to my sis.

Dd is screaming like a banshee at him and has taken his phone so that should spur him on Grin

GS Stop being a stroppy kid!!

DS4 You say that one more time and I will tell your Mum

GS Well Im going to tell YOUR Mum.....'Andma you do love me more dont you?'

Blow dry his hair? I'm lucky if he washes it Blush

Luckily enough he doesn't have much hair, he has a strip of hair across the top dont ask and managed to be in the car in 2 and a half minutes.

They are safely delivered to sis and hopefully will be tired by the time they get home tonight.

Ok, ok I know they won't, I know they will be hyped up on sugar and adrenaline from all the flipping roller coast madness. And hungry. And arguing. But I can dream....

outtolunchagain · 08/08/2012 10:28

Came home from work today to find 4 teenage girls in various stages of undress, sunbathing in the back garden. DS was up, showered and dressed in his Hollister best!!!!! (I'm guessing he has the hots for one of DD's mates).

AND DD had done 3 loads of washing, unasked.

I think I need to go and lie down....... Shock

TantrumsAndOlympicGoldBalloons · 08/08/2012 17:51

katie must be someone special if your DS is anything like mine, the lynx and hollister only come out when there's a girl involved

LizzieJay · 08/08/2012 20:15

Ah, Lynx. The stench of teenage desperation.

triplets · 09/08/2012 23:54

and its all my fault for giving in...............dd begged me to let her friend stay over, promised as they do they will be quiet. No way................grrrrrrrrrr!

alistron1 · 10/08/2012 09:57

Ah yes, you are all living my life. Last week we had the silent weeping/screaming ab dabs from one of the dd's because I wouldn't let her go to a 'thing' THAT SHE HAD NEVER MENTIONED!!

Other DD told me that no one likes me and that I was a control freak - that was because I wouldn't sub her £30 to buy a crap t shirt from a dodgy online seller in the US.

DS has done nothing but eat, and then moan about there being no food in the house.

There's been lots of soulful sighing about how boring and shit their lives are - WELL TAKE OFF YOUR DRESSING GOWNS AND LEAVE THE HOUSE THEN!!!!!

My clothes keep disappearing, and then reappearing. The washing basket is overflowing and I have no towels or spoons.

Thank bloody god for wine.

DD has gone away for the weekend with half my wardrobe.

"Isn't it lucky we're the same size Mum?"

"No"

"Well it's lucky for me, then"

TantrumsAndOlympicGoldBalloons · 10/08/2012 15:43

Dd does that with my shoes.

All the flipping time.

If I ever can't find a pair of shoes I know they are either on DDs feet or in her room.

DD1 cot photographed by a 'streetstyle' thing while she was shopping in tow yesterday. This has led to her changing her clothes about 4 times today and then just going for little walks outside in the hope of someone 'spotting' her again.

And yes, I find my cardigans, and DP's, under her bed.

At the moment they are all in the living room bickering. I've been gardening all day - do you think any of the feckers would help me? No. Yet now they are moaning 'cos (a) they are starving and (b) they are bored. I have pointed out (repeatedly) that (a) they have money and (b) there is a shop 2 minutes walk away from us so if none of the food in the fridge suits (ham, salad, cheese, pork pie, quiche etc) they could go to the shop and buy whatever crap they feel like throwing down their necks. But apparently that's not possible - they're too busy being bored.

I have just opened a can of beer.

DD2 is also revving up for a case of the screaming ab dabs, the signs are there. The tone of voice is getting slightly more histrionic and she's winding up my 8 year old who in turn is winding her up even more.

I swear to god, I feel like running onto threads about toddlers, weaning, sleepless nights and screaming YOU THINK YOU'VE GOT IT BAD??? DO YOU DO YOU??

I could birth octuplets in my living room with no pain relief, breast feed 'em single handedly (tittedly?) 24/7 and I'd prefer it to dealing with sodding teenagers. At least 8 screaming babies wouldn't constantly demand money and nick your clothes.

I have dd 15 and ds13.
Ds has started hanging out at the park with girls. He sprays himself with Lynx, puts on his Wills tshirt, and swaggers out. He has even grown his hair a bit (always had short back and sides cut to date), so we are going through wax at a vast rate.
What's funny is that I know all these girls. and their mothers. Known them since primary. I often bump into them and they give me little nuggets of information eg "oh it was lovely having master duvall round yesterday, the girls think he is so cute"
I enjoy telling himGrin

He knows he can't fart in our suburb...I will know about it by the end of the day.

alistron1 · 10/08/2012 16:46

Cheers Katie, I think it will come to that Grin
