Changing my mind about tattoo

I am due for an appointment tomorrow for a floral tattoo. This is something that I really really really want. At the time of booking I knew what I wanted. A rose in my favourite colour. This being my first tattoo I am a little bit nervous and I decided really only a mini tattoo. Maybe something about 2 inches.

For a few weeks I was thinking about location between arm or leg and I decided arm.

Now I am getting nervous and having second thoughts. In that I wish I could get a bigger rose tattoo to go from wrist to under elbow. A rose with a stem. Do a proper job of it while I am doing it.

Would a mini rose above the wrist be nice? This is something that I do want but now I want bigger.

At some stage I think I would like to plaster a few different ones all around my body - sunflower, daffodil, daisy, buttercup - theres no concrete decision made on this one just yet and may or may not happen.

I wish I picked a bigger longer rose for my arm instead of a mini one.

Now I am thinking will I go ahead with this mini rose but maybe put in on my leg and then maybe next year I can get a bigger tattoo on my arm?

Decisions will need to be made within the next 12 hours.

If youve already said you want the smaller one instead they might not have time for the bigger one. So that's the decision made if it's the case.

I'd go for the bigger one personally as I don't know anyone including myself whose ever wished they'd gone smaller.

But if you're really undecided get the smaller one you can always add a bigger design to. Ask the tattooist to bear that in mind when they're doing it.

Can you share the picture of the smaller design?

Call it off if you aren’t dead set on exactly what you’re getting. Post-tattoo regret can be intense. It’s worth the hassle of cancelling or rescheduling.

This was something that I wanted for a long time but I was just too nervous. When I booked my appointment it was something that I absolutely wanted for sure. Now that the time is coming closer and I can envision a flower on my arm, I think I would love to do it properly and get it bigger from wrist to inside elbow.

When I booked it, I wanted a small/mini flower ascmy first. This is something that I really wanted. Now that I am my mind on my first tattoo and location and it's very near now, I think I would like a whole entire flower on my forearm.

You’re just panicking it’s normal for the first one! When you go to the appointment they will have a stencil and will put this on your body wherever you want it so you can then decide if that’s the right place or size and then you can change it and they’ll do this til it’s right!

Thank you for your reply.

I will go to my appointment. I might even like the mini on my arm.

These are some screenshots I got from online. They are black and white but gives a rough idea of sizing that I choose.

Ok, this is a full rose tattoo on an arm and I think it might be too over powering for me.

I would say be sure about what you want. I'm sure any tattooist would rather you're happy than have a tattoo you regret. Maybe call them and discuss it?

Crunched · 04/04/2025 17:51

They are very nice designs! Hope it goes well tomorrow.

KingKitty · 04/04/2025 17:51

This is a screenshot of a rose placement that I like and it's on the wrist. For me, I would have to flip it around.

(I meant the smaller ones)

KingKitty · 04/04/2025 17:53

I know what I want. I want a rose in my favourite colour.

This was my first thought.

The title of your post made me think that you couldn't decide if you wanted a tattoo or not. From reading your posts I think that you don't know what you want and you need to be absolutely sure what and where you want it....it's there for a very long time....There is nothing wrong with waiting a while longer until you are totally sure what you want. I just hope that you dont get something that you regret.

KingKitty · 04/04/2025 17:58

This was one of my reference pictures but in a different colour. I think this is lovely. I am probably just getting nervous. I will go to my appointment and see what the stencil will be like.

I think it might just be nerves on my part at this stage.

I wanted a mini rose and just today I thought about bigger as in a full blown forearm rose but I think that could be too overpowering. I am good and at ease again with the idea of a smaller rose on my arm.

KingKitty · 04/04/2025 18:35

I think I was getting some nerves about my appointment because I don't know how it will look. I am good and happen with the ference pic that I provided and a bigger rose would be too over powering for me.

Maybe next year I can get a larger tattoo on my leg or a bunch of daisies on my other arm.

Have the smaller one. More can be added at a later date.

I don't have my tattoo design.

Why don't you have your tattoo design op? Has the artist not shared one with you?

I don't know why. The tattoo parlour never shared it with me.

I found this on tiktok and it's a screenshot of a rose on a wrist. I like this placement but it will also depend on what is presented to me tomorrow. If it's fatter or taller I think I may get it placed under my elbow. If it's a small skinny one like this, above the wrist would be good.

Definitely have the smaller one as your first. You have no idea how your skin will react. Get a bigger one when you are sure you want a bigger one.
