Tell her it's illegal under the age of 18

NewIdeasToday · 26/07/2022 15:22

You have to be 18. So no need for any arguments now.

Emmelina · 26/07/2022 15:26

It’s illegal. No good tattoo artist will risk their licence to scratch a 15 year old. She’ll have to wait.

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 26/07/2022 15:27

It isn't up to you or her..
Acting like a brat is exactly why there are such laws...

gingergato · 26/07/2022 15:28

It's illegal, so you no say in the matter either.

titchy · 26/07/2022 15:28

You seem to be under the impression you your mum have a choice in the matter. Odd.

Ihatethenewlook · 26/07/2022 15:30

Who do you know that will tattoo a 15yo? They’ll lose their license

MaChienEstUnDick · 26/07/2022 15:33

Listen kid, if you want to make a permanent mark on your body, that's great. But trust me when I tell you you want a really, really good artist to be doing the marking. And a really, really good artist won't tattoo you without proof that you're 18.

teenagetantrums · 26/07/2022 15:35

I told my daughter she had to wait till 18. That it was illegal So she bought a tattoo gun and did it herself 🙄.
That was 13 years ago, she has since had it covered up by something that looks nicer. She has many tattoo now. I'm still not a fan but she likes them and is adult

User2145738790 · 26/07/2022 15:38

It sounds like you're the type of parent that's never told your child, "no." You've created your own monster.
Please do not risk a tattoo artist losing their license because you don't want to be a responsible parent.

TalkingToMyselfAgain · 26/07/2022 15:39

She's too young, and it's illegal. She'll have to have a tantrum

Readytoplay · 26/07/2022 15:40

You have to legally be 18, and any that would risk their license are probably a bit dodge. She has probably watched a load of American influences, where in most states minors can get one with parental consent, but you unfortunately need to tell her that’s not the case here in the UK.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 26/07/2022 15:41

Well I love tattoos and did have them when I was under 18 but not in a very safe way. One was done abroad and the other in my mates bedroom with a tattoo gun! (He is a really amazing tattoo artist now who has a year long waiting list, so you'd never know!)

She should wait until she is 18. If she is still determined then then you can't stop her anyway, but no where reputable will tattoo her under 18 anyway

bluegardenflowers · 26/07/2022 17:07

No, she waits until she is 18. If it was a tiny butterfly and it was legal, I would let her do it so the whole tattoo thing doesn't become some big thing and she comes home one day like the illustrated woman.

Ringmaster27 · 26/07/2022 17:09

Any decent artist wouldn’t risk their livelihood to illegal tattoo a child.
And her going to a shitty artist who would open s her up to a whole host of risks - the least of which is a terrible tattoo. I’ve seen some horrendous scratch jobs that have resulted in near fatal infection.
I got my first ever tattoo in Canada at 17, where it is legal with parental consent. It’s not a good tattoo.
Do not condone this as a parent please!

BritWifeInUSA · 26/07/2022 17:11

You need help from people on the Internet on how to say “no” to your child?

Maybeebebe · 26/07/2022 17:15

Yeah, make sure it's a full face job though maybe something like this
929nin.com/what-ever-happened-to-the-woman-who-got-her-face-tattooed/

xxcatcatcatxx · 26/07/2022 17:17

Omg please do not let her go. My DP is a tattoo artist and for underage tattoos whoever does it gets charged with assaulting a minor, not sure why anyone would agree to this. No offence meant to your daughter obviously xxx

AuntieMarys · 26/07/2022 17:17

"Getting quite angry" 😅

whosaidtha · 26/07/2022 17:21

Tell her that she needs to start acting like an adult before she can get something so grown up. And having hissy fit isn't acting like an adult.

Thekormachameleon · 26/07/2022 17:21

She's angry at you. Tell her to pipe down and behave herself.
She needs to be 18 by law, end of discussion

You are the parent, tell her to behave herself

alnawire · 26/07/2022 17:22

This is such a weird thread. Your kid is 15, you just say no, you don't ask other people.

Maireas · 26/07/2022 17:24

Do what everyone else in your year group does. Get a Sharpie and doodle all over your arms.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 26/07/2022 17:39

Hi OP, she can’t legally get a tattoo until she is 18, there’s no such thing as parental consent for tattoos when under the age of 18.
She is simply going to have to wait and that’s the end of the conversation.
I really hope she isn’t thinking of getting an at home tattoo by a friend or random person as that runs a very high risk of infection and major scarring.

LonelyInAutumn · 26/07/2022 17:54

Tattooing someone under 18 is classed as assault of a minor
