Oh but they are BRILLIANT. So entertaining. We have one nearby called "Just Diane" which sums it up really.

Carbonated · 08/07/2010 11:05

I admire their ability to get just a little bit of gold and some ruching onto every outfit.

CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:06

We have one
It has Maxmara etc in the window with special glass to prevent sundamage
I have NEVER been in, and I have been in most shops in our lovely Spa town

tomme · 08/07/2010 11:07

We have one where you have to ring a doorbell to get in, door is permanently locked, I often wonder if this is so once you're in you can't get out without purchasing some peach ruffles and a pair of courts.

CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:09

the manequin are always bad

bluecardi · 08/07/2010 11:10

Once went into my local boutique for a look around - just once. Display is hideous.

BeenBeta · 08/07/2010 11:11

We have on in our town just as you describe.

DW went in and the proprieter sort of looked her up and down as if to say 'I dont think we have anything for you dear'. Its the sort of place 'the local ladies who lunch' would shop and are well known as being part of 'the county set'.

DW found it highly amusing when it went out of business.

CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:11

yyy re the mannequins

VictorVictoria · 08/07/2010 11:13

The one in my parents local town is also staggeringly and hilariously expensive. For utterly hideous stuff.

dexter73 · 08/07/2010 11:16

There is one in my town called Marjories. My friend and I often stand in front of the window and pick out outfits for each other! They have just started selling Not Your Daughters jeans...

bluecardi · 08/07/2010 11:21

"Who's , eaten all the cakes, "

CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:22

and they all are now clamouring to be Portified and carry " contemporary stock" like "dash"
snigger

bluecardi · 08/07/2010 11:23

Lovely

SuziKettles · 08/07/2010 11:33

God yes.

"Catherine's of Partick". Everything in it is vile and yet it's managed to survive while all around it crumbles.

My mum got her dress for her school leaver's dance there. In 1964.

CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:34

aaaaaaaaw

there is a good one in devizes and Marlborough.
god what IS it called? I mean it really is a good shop

OP posts:
CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:35

"tis fab. i sit at traffic lights gawping at hidious frills.

And another opposite called "Mums the word"

I thought for ages it was maternity shop.

For people who like purple lace.

No, it is for the mature lady (with bad taste)

CompyCod · 08/07/2010 11:38

" okay ill take the purple" mutters ds3 from Match magazine

We have 2 Pygmalion (barf) which has a funny yellow window blind to stop the sun getting on the clothes. I presume they must be in the window a long time as this is Wales.
The other is called Canasta and I think is part owned by Bonnie Tyler. Says it all really.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/07/2010 11:45

It just screams class and style, does it not?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 08/07/2010 11:46

Canasta sounds like a thrush treatment
