ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 08/07/2010 14:23

the shop in mums village is a bit like this one

Lionstar · 08/07/2010 14:30

Yes to the drapery by fishing line. Ours always has yards of swagged fabric and some kind of 'structured' dried flower display.

It's called Experience!

champagnesupernova · 08/07/2010 14:34

Bishops Stortford has aristocrats - does menswear too - and I've just learned it has a "2004 FHM menswear award"

There was also somewhere I always remember from looking at bridal mags 8 years ago called the Pantiles Bride in somewhere like Tunbridge Wells that does MOB stuff -I always read it as Panti-less (puerile)

dickyduckydido · 08/07/2010 14:34

Ours is called 'Eileen'. I'm always tempted to sing 'Come on Eileen ta loo ri ah' when i walk past!

NorbertDentressangle · 08/07/2010 14:38

Oh God we have one. I've never been in and , in fact, can't even remember what its called. I think it might be something like Contrasts.

We also have a Grace Bros type small department store that you have to be over 70 to shop in. Never been in there eithe.

MrsBadger · 08/07/2010 14:40

we have one

'Mary Brooks'

sells 'evening gowns'

Decorhate · 08/07/2010 14:40

We have several - tbh they probably have ok stuff but I am usually too intimidated to go into any of them. I braved one last year as they have Lands End stuff (allegedly) but I caught sight of the price tag on a pair of capri pants (£175) and scurried out! Makes Boden look cheap!

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/07/2010 14:43

Cheltenham has got loads of them.

Tia-Tia Plus size store

Sample quote: "The Zelle knitwear is exciting with different shapes and textures, Riona Stone and Godske coats ? yes coats! They are to die for ? so you need to get in quick as they are already selling fast. Rabe is a new knitwear label for us but the collection is fabulous and lots to offer. Yoek is elegant and quirky all at the same time and I can?t stop wearing it!"

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/07/2010 14:44

Why the bloody hell do these shops exist I wonder.

If you are of a certain age and getting broad of hip you would just go to Phase 8, surely.

stressheaderic · 08/07/2010 14:47

Yes yes, we have one. Called 'Rosalind'.
Has yellow cellophaned window, fishing wire AND a 'please ring the bell' sign.

Plus, the prices are displayed on small black metal squares pinned to the clothes. A taupe chiffon blouse caught my eye the other day for £89. I have never, ever seen a customer in there.

NorbertDentressangle · 08/07/2010 14:56

aaah yes the yellow cellophaned window.

Our Grace Bros dept store has those

DarrellRivers · 08/07/2010 15:50

Right, stressheaderic, where is Rosalind's?
You can give me clues if you don't want to fully disclose on line
I have a vested interest

tiredemma · 08/07/2010 15:59

this type of place?

all horrendous chiffon pleated skirts and court shoes.

DarrellRivers · 08/07/2010 16:03

but not this presumably

Cortina · 08/07/2010 16:04

I am loving the description of 'Rosalind'.

Do you think the shop is a cover for a something more sinister?

How can these shops exist through a recession?

What is the real story? What happens if you venture inside.

I've found they're usually good for tights, these sort of shops, if you happen to need a neutral pair and can't get to M and S!

tiredemma · 08/07/2010 16:06

what the HELL?

tiredemma · 08/07/2010 16:07

Rosalinds French Knickers look like they would give you a chronic case of thrush

ellaballoo · 08/07/2010 16:09

oh yes,the unrivalled fashion house of
Florentyna Dawn

Simply amazing!
