fab thread.

This reminds me of when I needed to buy a new swimsuit on the way from York to the Lake District by car.
Realised I'd forgotten it as we left the house, 'never mind, we go through loads of towns, I'll be able to get something somewhere'.

only shops I could find that were open were a succession of these ladies' boutiques. Some had swimsuits in the window. Fine, I thought, and went in.
Turned out they were 'cruisewear' swimsuits. Found an ok one that was not £60. Shop assistant said, 'You know you mustn't get it wet, don't you?'

This is my local. Am sure it is a money laundering operation. I went in once in a blind panic and was definitely inconveniencing the staff with my presence.

ChallengingCitrus, we have a Lookin' Trendy here too if I'm not mistaken -- we're in Edinburgh. Same one, or are there two?!

Loving 'Magnum' for the larger woman, and also 'Poppers'

Have seen one in Morningside called 'Guilty'. And where I used to live, in a small American town, we had Eudora's Corset Shop. Not ironically or nostalgically named -- there since dawn of time.

My mum's favourite shop is a boutique called 'Woman At Large' - for the fuller figured lady. They are of the opinion that the most flattering way for a larger lady to dress is by wearing tent-like blouses in gaudy colours made from man-made fabrics which are ordered from the US. All of their clothes have the effect of making my mum look bigger than she is.

Still, the owner is an absolutely lovely lady and the shop is in a very pretty Medieval building
