Oh lord if any of you can help i would be soooooo grateful.

i have green metallic glasses, right? looooovely ones, mikli/starck etc cost a freakin' fortune. and i am wearing a pink dress to a wedding (IN FRANCE, SODDING GOLD TRADERS APLENTY, THE POTENTIAL FOR SNOOTINESS ABOUNDS).

aaaanyway... it's only after coming home i realise that those glasses pop a little against the pink. fine, i like pop. so without running the risk of looking too matchy-matchy i thought maybe a green clutch and some green OR gold shoes. however, the woman in JL (yes, i know) said that i HAD to get green shoes as gold not appropriate (even with humungous gold zipper and potential for green and gold accessorising at wrist).

aaaand, oh i don't know. i'm just blethering. do you like my dress?

have any of you seen any nice green shoes lately? i've got good pins, can carry off a heeled glad-type thing. did try these on today and they are MASSIVELY comfortable but ever so slightly mumsy in the heel imo.

any advice?

Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:12

oh areln't you all kind? thanks. have been arguing with plumber downstairs...

and i will be DANCING, nobbo. i'm not going for my first weekend away without children EVAH and standing crippled in a corner.

What about white/cream and dyeing them gold?

Or what about dyeing your silver ones?

Is that how you spell dyeing???

Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:17

i think we're all dying a little...

no i think if i was getting into that territory i'd be more likely to have the zip replaced, iykwim? which i may yet do tbh if i get cork clearance.

OP posts:
Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:18

meant to put a after dying line. am really tremendously grateful, you do know that, don't you?

OP posts:
wubblybubbly · 17/06/2010 11:24

lol.

Depends on the cork I suppose.

Advantages are cost and comfort. Plus the fact that there's feck all out there that suits the purpose!

Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:27

my silver ones are just like the carvela [http://www.johnlewis.com/84370/Style.aspx?sku=230864321 ones]] but without that peculiar 'oh look it's a high heel and i'm standing on a corkboard trompe l'oeil'

I know we said no nude but I like these

too delicate ?

I think Faith have gone bust ...

Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:32

they are nice, but i just don't get the nude thing. do you, really?

OP posts:
Tillyscoutsmum · 17/06/2010 11:34

Honestly ? I've never really got the nude peep toe/shoey shoes (iyswim ?) but I do actually like those glad ones. I think the fact they are cage ones takes them way out of the realms of being Queen Mum

wubblybubbly · 17/06/2010 11:41

Well they're rather nice.

Your specs don't have any gold in them I'm guessing, so the colour scheme is pink, silver and green? Hmm, I do think the gold would be better.

Still, the silver is fairly neutral, so it's just about getting the accesories right maybe to bring it all together.

Something like this though would work brilliantly with the gold/pink/green combo.

Ingles2 · 17/06/2010 11:50

I think you should wear these
good for dancing...

Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:52

hah, ingles! i'm strictly adidas-loyal, i'm afraid.

good spot on the bangles, wub, will deffo get them as the two greens are the same as my spex and sunspex.

OP posts:
wubblybubbly · 17/06/2010 11:55

I'm back on the gold I'm afraid

okay so a fairly spindly heel but not too high and they're fun and dirt cheap. Try some on!

Aitch · 17/06/2010 11:58

they are nice, wub. am going to have to get into town on sat and try these mothers on.

Aitch · 17/06/2010 12:05

no, don't faint. i've got about fifteen shoes to try... i am genuinely worried about the heel height.

OP posts:
wubblybubbly · 17/06/2010 12:10

lol Aitch. Get yourself a pair of gold flatties in reserve.

Once all the gold traders are pissed, they'll never notice.

Aitch · 17/06/2010 12:14

well yes there's a really nice pair of slouchy gold thong sandals in new look for twelve quid that i might be able to smuggle in my clutch.

i said clutch.

OP posts:
wubblybubbly · 17/06/2010 12:22

buy a little pair of those gel soles too, great for dancing, if my memory serves me well.

Tillyscoutsmum · 17/06/2010 13:47

That's the spirit Cripple yourself for a few hours (with copious amounts of alcohol to numb the pain) and then slip your shoes off flats on for dancing later.

Can I just say that I went to my best friend's wedding on Saturday. It was the first time I'd been properly out since having DS. My ex husband was going to be there. I spent months weeks trying to find the right dress and accessories. I had pedicure, manicure, hair done, fake tan - the lot. 5 minutes before I left the house, I put the dress on and the zip broke I was absolutely gutted. I had to dig a crappy old dress out of the wardrobe, get DH to cut me out of the new dress because it was jammed (Karen fucking Millen chinese crap cost me £145 !) and wear all the accessories I had bought but which didn't really go. I then had to reapply my make up because I blubbed like a baby.

The best laid plans and all that... I had a fantastic time though. I got hammered a bit drunk and I was still prettier and slimmer than ex h's OW

brimfull · 17/06/2010 14:02

tilly -omg I would've blubbed as well
glad you were slimmer than ow though

aitch

tethersend · 17/06/2010 18:40
