In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

ABO I can understand your disappointment re your colours, I did an online colour test and was advised to wear lime green and terracotta type colours which really don't excite me at all. However I do like browns and neutrals so my favourite brown suede jacket from DP is still on my list.

DS is away this weekend on a school trip so I took a jaunt out to Hebden Bridge today which none of you will have heard of, but it was a very pleasant meander around some lovely shops followed by a coffee in the square and some 'people watching' which I love, especially when I get to eavesdrop on other peoples' conversations. It seems HB has quite an am dram thing going on with regular performances so I plan to keep my eye on that.
I also went out with my neighbour to watch the England game which was a bit but I had some good conversations with some complete strangers about the WC. At least they seemed like good conversations after a few gins!
I felt fabulous this evening wearing these, Ltec's stripey Asos oversized Tshirt and my 5'81/2"s which I didn't send back after all because they make me feel so tall!
I had a couple of compliments including "there's nowt wrong wi' you" which 'round here is akin to "get your coat you've pulled" . I'm going to be single for the rest of my life aren't I?

Zembo · 13/06/2010 06:04

Morning! Cain I've heard of Hebden Bridge - I come from Shipley originally. Will check it out sometime when I go to see my mum. You're outfit sounds fab, very leggy

Esher I think you've got the wrong lady with respect to shoe expertise . I do love the house of harlow ones though. Unfortunately wasn't too keen on the CL's you linked to originally. You are v. beautiful though so I'm sure would pull it off.

Tracey hopefully the spots will be gone this morning?

LTEC you little debutante, do let us know how the party went. Bought the oakley for my sis after you reminded me of it again. Bargainous price now.

ABO really like the max studio dress.

Feeling the need to spend loads of money as the 'I want a third DC' talk with DH not going well !

Zembo · 13/06/2010 06:57

Also, please can someone explain what the 'indent' is? I'm assuming its something undesirable so need to check if I've got one

Can anyone identify this scarf that Trinny's wearing? is it one of the Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse ones? Love the colours. I haven't tried one on, only seen one in the classic brown colour in the Leeds LV store. Wondering if it might be too big for a shorty like me anyway? Its my birthday in a few weeks time and also 5th wedding anniversary a few days later, need to compile a list for DH to choose from (least he can do since he's refusing to donate any sperm) Fleecy have you got any further with persuading your DH - I think you said you were going to wait until after your hols in Sept though?

Finally took delivery of this bike for my Dd's forthcoming 4th birthday.'Tis a thing of beauty! Absolutely delighted with it, will replace her little balance bike. Better get on with making my carrot and corriander soup before the monsters of the house are up!

FritziGreenEyes · 13/06/2010 08:32

Phew, managed just to catch up with all your posts and have already forgotten half of it. You have been so busy and I'm getting confused about all the online sales. I didn't even get around to check out all the links.

vin - I am so sorry about your friend...

oww - What a nightmare about your holiday. Hope you'll be rewarded by lovely weather! I love France, especially shopping for everyday stuff in the huge supermarkets.

blossoming - Glad you had a lovely day for your DD's christening last week despite the weather. Your outfits sound great!

verity - I feel for your DD. As a girl I was always really self-conscious about my body. Wish my mother would have been as understanding and empathic as you are with your DD.

tracey - Hope you have found something to relieve the hayfever.

LTEC - Your going out outfits sound fantastic. I am a bit after a week of hanging around on a farm and going to bed at about 10pm. Feeding the chickens in my maxi dress, gladiators and manicured feet, I felt a bit like Paris Hilton in "The Simple Life"

everything - Sorry to hear about difficulties with DH. To me break-ups are always traumatic. I think you are really brave. Very wise comments from other A&W ladies. Made me think about my own relationship with DH.

monkeysmama - So disappointing about the sunglasses. Could you send them back and get a refund? If it is any consolation, have cried about stuff like that too.

abo - great shopping. I love autumn colours but I not sure if they suit my type really. Would love to have my colours done but there is no House of Colour in Germany and I am not sure how to find a good consultant.

All Dukan dieters and shredders - I have really great respect for your discipline. I don't think I need to lose weight but would love to be more toned. I just don't have the energy and time to go running and probably don't have the stamina to do the shredding. Would the Davina DVDs be any good or is it a waste of time?

And apologies to all those I have forgotten to mention. I missed you all and I am happy to be back!

AllBuggiedOut · 13/06/2010 09:18

Hurrah for the Islabike zembo - and what a fab colour! DS1 spotted it over my shoulder as I was checking out your link and said he'd like a red one next time

And so sorry you and your DH aren't finding common ground about a third DC. How old are your first two?

hf128219 · 13/06/2010 09:27

DH and I are off to a 'Mods and Rockers' Party next weekend. Actually it's more a Ball than a party.

What on earth to wear?? I much prefer parties to just be black tie/smart/casual and really can't stand a 'theme' - but have to make an effort.

Do any of you wise and avid ladies have any ideas?

Zembo 5th anniversary is Wood. Time for some lateral thinking!

traceybath · 13/06/2010 09:35

Zembo - it is indeed the Sprouse LV scarf and I think it would overwhelm me as am too small for it - gorgeous colours though!

DS1 has an islabike and its fab - he goes so fast on it.

hf128219 · 13/06/2010 09:37

Sprouse is nearly Spruce which is a tree which is wood. Bingo!

blossoming · 13/06/2010 10:22

Lovely scarf zembo. Worth looking at Lily & Lionel for similar. Although I fear my favourite purple animal print is no more. I am toying with the idea of another one for the airport run. The zebra is more of a winter as is made of wool. Does go nice with pinks and purples though! Such decisions!!

abo, so glad you had a good shop yesterday.

Welcome kristinam and thanks for the tip.

Cain, sounds like you looked fabulous. Don't worry about being single. It'll come.

Welcome back fritzi. So glad you had some time with your dh.

Hi to everyone else. Hate the world cup. Dh is a bit of a EBE supporter.

AllBuggiedOut · 13/06/2010 12:27

What do you think of this jumpsuit please?

FritziGreenEyes · 13/06/2010 12:27

Zembo - Oh yes, I think that is the Sprouse scarf. I love love love scarves and have been hankering after a Sprouse one forever. However it is a lot of money and I would certainly leave it somewhere. Thanks blossoming for the Lily and Lionel link. Might place an order tonight when everybody around here is watching the WC (yawn)

I am wearing the Asos jumpsuit today We're only lounging in the garden, but I feel great! The material is think but not see through and although I would prefer a jersey jumpsuit I think it is good value for money.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/06/2010 12:31

The material is obviously "thin" and I have the jumpsuit in black not emerald as the link might suggest.

Zembo - The "indent" is where top of thighs join the hips. Other A&W girls please correct me if I'm wrong! As you are not aware of it Zembo, you probably don't have it, lucky you! Could post a photo for clarification but will spare you

AllBuggiedOut · 13/06/2010 12:32

Glad you like the jumpsuit fritzi and am that it's warm enough where you are to wear it - grey and overcast here so am in marthas, new coral tee and khaki/coral butterfly scarf from Zara yesterday.

Fleecy · 13/06/2010 13:04

ABO ? New Look for cheap fashion fixes, especially in sale. Otherwise Office, Top Shop or online.

I have a jumpsuit a bit like that but in black and not ruched around the beltline. Very versatile - dress up with wedges, fab belt and bangles or dress down with a simple belt and flats. Have to say though, I often belt mine round the waist to make me look slimmer and you couldn?t do that with this one so depends on your shape!

Zembo ? heard him on the phone to his mum saying we weren?t making definite holiday plans for next yr/yr after because we would most likely be having another child ? got excited and asked him very gently about it and he said he thought we probably would Then yesterday he said out of the blue that he?s happy how we are and can?t imagine starting again with a third child So we will see ? but yes, want to get holiday done with first either way!

Zembo · 13/06/2010 13:19

ABO my children are almost 4 yrs old and 18 months old. Main issue is I'll be turning the big 4 0 next June and not ready to accept I'll never go through it all again AND never have my 'perfect' family. Perhaps I'm trying to create what I didn't have whilst growing up.

hf fantastic lateral thinking!..but I think Tracey is right and it would overwhelm me too - LV have obviously overlooked the petite market

Blossoming thanks for the L&L suggestion, will look at it later on tonight.

Glad to hear good things about the islabike.
Fritzi I'm afraid I'm still none the wiser re: this indent thing. You'll just have to post a photo .

DolceeBanana · 13/06/2010 14:40

well, I've been a bit spoilt as had night out with girls on Friday, then went off for hair cut and colour yesterday...v relaxing, ahhhh, lovely!

Cake - love that Anna Sui dress! Sounds like you had a fabbo evening and looked great, of course! Laughing at your msging from the loo!

P.S. Did you have hangover?

I am a complete wuss...had 2 glasses of wine last night and cracking hangover this morning!

Fleecy - oooh, exciting about the 'prospect' of no 3....3 is great, although you do (if you are a prize analyser like me), 'worry' about it all...but it works. I like the fact that life feels busy, and all that chatter is (honestly) amazing!

Fritzi sounds like a nice hols...Paris Hilton eat your heart out...

Well, more footie....sat with DH last night and read a book, whilst he kept looking at me, saying, '..aren't you watching? It's the World Cup!' Uh,....yeah, I know!

DolceeBanana · 13/06/2010 15:02

One thing though...We have our holidays booked in next few weeks, for 2 weeks away...DH wanting to take advantage of our last year when we could go 'out of school holidays'....but then we have 7 weeks of holidays looming!

Right, what are you all planning, any incredible tips...a couple of friends have their children booked into holiday clubs but (stupidly) feel a bit mean about that, and can't envisage doing...but want to do something every day (even if just trip to park)...what are you ladies doing?

AllBuggiedOut · 13/06/2010 16:31

40 is also looming here zembo - next April, and I'm sure it does make you evaluate what you "have" (in terms of friendships and relationships) and wonder if there's anything you'd like to do before you're 40. Like fleecy I've given myself time off from thinking about more kids for the moment because of the summer holiday, and it has been nice to be able to concentrate on the ones we have and to enjoy the freedom that comes with sightly older kids. But I'm far from decided yet, and when we get back from holiday will be decision time.

Impressed you're planning for the summer already dolce - remind me how old your DCs are?

Romanarama · 13/06/2010 16:33

God, I'm such a horrible person. I can't bear having mil here, total nightmare. And she is definitely a nice person, not a witchy old cow of a mil. But.... she just can't imagine why I would want to go out and do other things, is astonished when I go out for a few hours, and has no sense of personal space (calling me for some stupid reason when I've just told her I'm going to have a shower - shouting my name from outside the bathroom door just like my 4yo does). So I loathe it, am avoiding her and not entertaining her, and I feel like a total bitch . Why oh why did I ever agree to this? And it's my whole last 3 weeks of freedom to come and go as I please before starting work ft . And dh thinks I'm being horrible, which is true, but I'd like to see him spend 3 wks tête-à-tête with my mum. Not bloody likely. . I'm actually considering going to go to London for a few days for my personal sanity. Even things like the fact that she expects me to make her lunch and sit and eat it with her drive me nuts - I never have lunch properly unless I'm out with friends, and I get bored enough of having to make supper every day let alone lunch fgs. 3 weeks - JEEEEEZZZZUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSS

Romanarama · 13/06/2010 16:34
blossoming · 13/06/2010 16:35

I am still full after lunch. My parents came before they go away proper camping in Brittany for three weeks from next Saturday.
I made pork (cooked for 5 hrs!) and all the trimmings inc Yorkshire puddings for dc1. Also had wine and broke my sugar fast to have dessert with them. We had blueberry cheesecake brûlée pots from Good Food this month. Low cal and not much sugar. Really nice day. I'm going to be all alone without them (sob!) Dh is away a lot with work from next week too.

Can't wait to get on the pc to look at your dvf matches link hf. Love a (dvf) bargain.

ltec/carciofi. Are you home from your nights out?

OP posts:
Romanarama · 13/06/2010 16:40

dolce my kids have often gone to holiday clubs because I've been working ft and dh too, but I do think it's a shame to overschedule the holiday. If I wasn't working I'd probably look for some 1/2 day activities, maybe based around learning something. Here (Brussels) there's a huge choice, from tennis to theatre to fashion design. There's something for everyone in every single week of the holidays, and it's even tax deductable so costs quite little. My kids have all done a week long 'camp' where they learned to ride their bikes, saving my and dh's backs, and various other sporty things. When we're in London in July ds1 will do golf for a week, the littler ones I think nothing, as we'll be staying literally across the road from Kew Gardens with my parents, and the boys love to go there to climbers and creepers etc every day anyway, so they're not housebound.

blossoming · 13/06/2010 16:42

romanarama, feel for you I really fo. You are a saint to even attempt it.

hf, you could wear a mini shift dress and loads of liquid eyeliner or channel Sandy in the 'you're the one that I want' scene for the rocker bit. My brother was a bit of a mod back in the day!

OP posts:
Romanarama · 13/06/2010 16:43

PS I'm also v.low on tolerance today as totally knackered and hungover after 2 parties Friday and saturday (Friday Jbrands, Antik Batik heels, black chiffon boob tube - a wardrobe find that I bought 3 years ago and had never worn, but it was lovely! Saturday Ted Baker dress with a lilac and black floral print also practically never worn, and AB heels again.) Both times the Wonderbra made the outfit, so thanks again to MM's sister!

Romanarama · 13/06/2010 16:45

blossoming I should never have tried. I can get on fine with her for a few hours on my own, for a weekend with dh and kids, of for longer provided I'm out at work 12h per day. The illusion will now be well and truly shattered, and I can't believe she's having a nice time with me. Damn and blast.
