OP posts:
brimfull · 14/05/2010 08:37

have yougot any anti-histamine , piriton ?

keepingup · 14/05/2010 08:38

Any piriton or similar in the house? That might offer some relife?
Other than that, cold damp towel against face?

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 08:38

I did have but i can't find it anywhere, is from last year so prob out of date

OP posts:
Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 08:40

I've dyed my hair so many times/! i don't get it.

OP posts:
LIZS · 14/05/2010 08:42

Piriton lasts ages , what about aloe vera or calendula or even aftersun. Maybe a reaction to the combination of chemicals , presumably you didn't do a test patch ?

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 08:43

It was a salon and no, they didn't mention it.

OP posts:
LIZS · 14/05/2010 08:44

did they know what you'd already tried though ?

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 08:46

yes, i told them it had been bleached and had a dye put on.

they just put a darker one.

I've bleached and dyed it before when younger, I dye it about every 4 months, all different brands and colours, but this is the first time ive gone to a salon to have it dyed!

OP posts:
PlumSykes · 14/05/2010 08:47

Oh, bless you. You need anti-histamine really, but a cool flannel will take the anrgy redness and the itch away for a bit.

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 08:47

I can't put any aftersun on ar anything as my skin is sensitive to that stuff anyways, In only use Liz Eaerle on my face.

OP posts:
Gibbon · 14/05/2010 08:59

Did they do a test two or so days before Dis?

Magaly · 14/05/2010 09:02

well, I couldn't sell my story to take a break! but I reacted to the last dye I put in my hair. I have chemical burns on my scalp now. Like spots that just won't heal up..... I ahve used hair dye plenty of times. Can't use it again though. Will have to put up with really dark hair thta makes me look like I need a blood transfusion....

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 09:03

No, no test.

OP posts:
Gibbon · 14/05/2010 09:07

That was naughty of them Dis unless you have used them before and it's been ok?

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 09:08

No, never.

I had messed my hair up so wouldn't have waited 48 hours for a test anyway if I'm being honest. Plus the fact I've dyed it so many times without a problem.

Its not really down to them, is it?

OP posts:
Gibbon · 14/05/2010 09:12

I dye my hair and any new salon I have used have insisted on a test to cover themselves in situations such as this.

Hope the GP can help and you get some relief.

WannabeMakeUpArtist · 14/05/2010 09:42

You poor thing... DON'T put anything onto your skin as this could only make it worse, until you get your hands on some anti-histamine or see your GP the best you can do is soothe the area with a cold damp flannel.

If that was your first visit to the Salon and they haven't dyed your hair before then they were wrong not to complete a patch test, it goes against their code of conduct and am pretty sure their insurance too!

Really hope you get this sorted soon!

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 10:15

The GP has given me 7 antihistamine tabllets and said to put E45 cream on.

Don't really want to contact the salon.

OP posts:
lowenergylightbulb · 14/05/2010 10:24

I think that you do need to talk to the salon. You should have had a patch/strand test. Just because someone has coluored their hair before doesn't mean that they won't have a reaction to a dye at some point in the future.

They need to re-look at their procedures, you have had an upsetting reaction but someone else might be made really ill. People have died following reactions to hair colours.

You poor thing, I hope you feel better soon.

ps: does your hair look nice though

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 10:26

My new har is kind of shadowedby my huge red spotty face

OP posts:
FabIsGoingToGetFit · 14/05/2010 10:27

Can I just ask wrt the patch tests. I am about to have my hair coloured for the 3rd time at my salon, though I have done it myself loads of times, do I need a new test each time?

Hope you are soon feeling better Dis and I do think you need to tell the salon. Not in an accusatory tone as you wouldn't have agreed to the test anyway, but in case there is a problem with the dye they used.

Disenchanted3 · 14/05/2010 10:39

Would it be wrong of me to try and get a refund foor the dye job?

OP posts:
Gibbon · 14/05/2010 11:14

Fab, no they usually do one test beore they dye your hair for the first time (or at least they should)

Dis - you really should go into the salon and speak to the manager, not performing a patch test is really not on.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 14/05/2010 11:18

Thanks Gibbon. They did do a test.
