Please help me with these shoes...

They are the only ones I have found to wear on my Wedding Day.

They are in America, so will cost altogether (shipping + tax inc) £140. My dress cost £30

I am a size 5/6, so do I go for an American size 8? Are American shoes known for coming up big/small?

Do I risk it and bank on Ebay if they're not right?

They look perfect

[Did orignally put a similar thread in chat a moment ago, but hoping it will be ignorned now I've remember the S&B section ]

Batty - sorry I've just skimmed the thread, and LOVE 'The Shoes'!

Do you have anyone in the US that you could get them delivered to then they could send them over? If you can, they can mark your parcel as a gift and you wouldn't pay any tax

think there's a website that you can register with that does this service, hold on and i'll google...

fustyarse · 01/05/2010 20:46

myus.com

wubblybubbly · 01/05/2010 20:48

Oh definitely, like someone said earlier, they'd look great with jeans too. I think you'd get a load of opportunities to wear them all through the summer. They don't look too much like wedding shoes, not like this sort of thing which are no good for anything else.

I like the hair brooch, it's really pretty - much more subtle than a tiara!!!

You can also get beautiful tipped pins, which you can just have placed in your up 'do' this sort of thing so as subtle and simple as you want it really.

I think you would get away with earrings too - I'm thinking you won't be wearing anything at your neck with the halterneck, so it's not going over the top - not on your wedding day!

BattyKoda · 01/05/2010 23:13

HLaurens... that's really helpful - thank you! It's hard to see the quality on a website!

Fustyarse - No one in the US.. I don't mind taking the gamble though, what's an extra £30 when your spending £140 on a pair of shoes?!

wubblybubbly - Might get some use out of them on Honeymoon I suppose . I thought about pins... but I think I want something a bit more vintage to tie in the bag, I saw a lovel one a while ago but can't seem to find it now... I wonder if I could get this adapted.

Earring like this?

If you had the Nordstrom beauties shipped to a MNer in the US and she then put them in the post to you and called them 'sandals left behind after a visit' (i.e. used and not bought brand new) on the customs form you would avoid the customs tax in all likelihood. You could send the postal cost by western union.

Magnoliamom is right about the size: 5-6 UK is 8-9 US

BattyKoda · 02/05/2010 08:12

Thanks Mathaxiety, would't want to put anyone out though, although I know MNer's are great . Like I said I don't mind taking the risk, they're costing a small fortune anyway!

Just remember, you won't be holding the bag the entire day, so don't worry about being too matchy. Although I agree about keeping accessories in the same "family". I think your earrings should be quite similar to hair clip/s, though, as they are so close to each other.

I think a chandelier-style earring would be lovely. Something delicate. These are a bit more modern than I think you're going, but so pretty. For some reason, I keep going to gold for your accessories, but I think you're after silver. Hey ho!

JFly · 02/05/2010 09:38

Back on your earrings site, how about these? I like the idea of some pearls.

piprabbit · 03/05/2010 02:24

Hi, just found these which have a similar feel but are very much cheaper at less than 30quid .....
just in case you still looking....

here

BattyKoda · 04/05/2010 12:55

Thanks Piprabbit... think someone had already linked to those, they are lovely, but not quite high enough.

JFly- I did see those, they are nice, but think I want something less modern.

Update on the shoes.... I tried to order last night after settling on a size 6 (I figured I can always get some of those party feet cushions to put in which will stop my feet slipping if they're a bit big). They wouldn't take my visa card!! Enough money in the account, no problems before, don't know what to do now

BattyKoda · 04/05/2010 20:13

Oh god...need your help girls!! Sorted issue with card....went to order today, and they have sold out in my size!!

Have found a pair at Zappos but they don't ship to UK.... that site that was linked to that can forward parcels on internationally, is it relaible, trustworthy?? I am desperate for these shoes now!!

I've read about MYUSA.com in lots of magazines, including Vogue, so I would be happy to use it. Quick, before they're gome!

BattyKoda · 04/05/2010 21:12

Really VerityBrulee... did a quick google and didn't look good

Why batty?

There are a few others that do similar, but no experience myself.

Do you have a friend of a friend/distant cousin in the states you could have it sent to? Most people would be happy to help out considering they are your wedding shoes.

SoupDragon · 04/05/2010 21:27

I posted this on your other thread.

BattyKoda · 04/05/2010 21:32

Yes, thank you soupdragon.

Verity - soupdragon suggested heels.com. Have ordered

Will let you know when they arrive!

Great, I'm sure they'll be perfect
