They are the only ones I have found to wear on my Wedding Day.

They are in America, so will cost altogether (shipping + tax inc) £140. My dress cost £30

I am a size 5/6, so do I go for an American size 8? Are American shoes known for coming up big/small?

Do I risk it and bank on Ebay if they're not right?

They look perfect

[Did orignally put a similar thread in chat a moment ago, but hoping it will be ignorned now I've remember the S&B section ]

(The ASOS ones look clumpy I meant!)

I'm worried about the risk too...if they don't fit etc.

magnoliamom - thank you! Do Zappos ship to the UK, I can't find anything about international shipping on their website?

If you love the shoes, then email or phone Nordstrom, there is a link for Live Chat on the page. Americans are amazing for customer service! Go and measure the length of a pair of sandals that fit you well, ie from heel to toe. Ask them if they can give you that measurement. UK5 is US8, but you have a bit of leway with a sandal.

If you have saved on your dress, you can have a splurge on your shoes, and enjoy them

BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 22:29

I think I am a 5 and a half, amybe I should go to Clarks to double check. I have shoes in size 5 and size 6.

Nordstrom have excellent customer service. I ordered a coat and handbag a few months ago but the handbag was out of stock. I tried to get in touch with them to cancel the whole order as I didn't want to pay shipping for just the coat (handbag was the main thing I wanted). Was too late and they had already shipped. They promptly refunded the shipping, no arguements and I got my lovely coat with zero shipping charges.

Thank you VerityBrulee, thats really helpful, didn't think of doing that. Will feel so much better about buying them if I can be sure they will fit.

Monty100 · 30/04/2010 22:33

Batty, I'd plump for the bigger size bearing in mind you'll be on your feet a lot that day.

BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 22:35

Usually I buy a size 5 in sandals, I hate it when they look too big, so do you think a 5.5 would be OK? I will email them like VerityBrulee suggested.

OP posts:
Monty100 · 30/04/2010 22:39

Batty, from what Verity says, they are generous with size so 5 would prob be ok. Email them tho.

JFly · 30/04/2010 22:46

I wear a UK 4.5/5 and a US 7/7.5. Whatever you find out re the actual shoe fit, I would potentially go a half size bigger. They have a 4" heel! Lots of pressure on the ball of your foot and your weight will shift forward. Don't want the unsightly "toes hanging over the edge" look.
And Nordstrom prides itself on its excellent customer service and return policy. Don't forget, however, that you may end up with customs duty on this end. Can be a bit of a bugger, that.

BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 22:48

Customs duty?? Whats that?!

OP posts:
VerityBrulee · 30/04/2010 22:51

Ooo, customs duty, forgot about that, add about 20% on to the price. I had to give 43.75 Euro to the postman yesterday when he delivered a pair of shoes from the states

Still if they are the shoes of your dreams...

Monty100 · 30/04/2010 22:53

I bought jewellery from US and didn't pay customs duty.

It was only a costume necklace and earrings, granted. But customs duty on a pair of shoes, would that not be paid by Nordstrom to the US if at all??

JFly · 30/04/2010 22:53

A tax on goods coming into the UK. It would be payable before you can receive the goods (IME). I had some wedding gifts sent to me from the US and they were taxed. And that was a genuine gift. So just be prepared to pay at least VAT rates. Not guaranteed that it will happen, but it could.

Monty100 · 30/04/2010 22:54

Verity - . Well I never.

BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 22:54

Fuck. What do you mean by may end up paying? Is there I chance I wouldn't have to? 20% of the total price for everyhting (shipping etc)? Brings the price up to £170.

OP posts:
JFly · 30/04/2010 22:57

You takes your chances, basically. Some things I've had sent from the States have come through with no tax payable, some I've had to pay. There is no way of determining in advance if you will have to pay, but you could be liable for around 20% or so, as Verity says.

Monty100 · 30/04/2010 22:58

good news here

UK Shop!

BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 23:00

It's a lie Monty! I saw that, but it directs to US website, heart sank!

OP posts:
Monty100 · 30/04/2010 23:01

Awwwwwww, sorry .

I'm not giving up!!!

JFly · 30/04/2010 23:03

Going to bed, but good luck! If you really have a strict budget, I would try to find something here in the UK that you can try on. Honestly, there are some very cute shoes around. And you'd hate it if you had any issues or stress with overseas purchase. You have a decent budget (if you're prepared to pay around £150), you'll find something by July.

BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 23:05

Monty

JFly - Really been struggling, bridal shoes in the country are mostly horrid. Had my heart set on a pair from Dune, but I'm not Katie Price

OP posts:
BattyKoda · 30/04/2010 23:08

A bit differnet

OP posts:
VerityBrulee · 30/04/2010 23:10

I'm inclined to agree with JFly, you still have lots of time before July. If you find nothing else then take a chance on the US shoes. The duty thing is totally random as far as I can see. I think customs do a lucky dip in bags of parcels, too bad if yours is picked.
