ALL SAINTS POSEIDON DRESS!!!

bobbiewickham · 13/04/2010 20:11

Anyone got it?

Was delivered today - and I haven't got a clue how to put it on!

It makes no sense whatsoever, whichever way I try to wear it.

And I can't return it because I had to wash it before I'd even tried it on because my stupid dog weed on it.

Disaster.

Help!

Well, I'm a 12-14, and the dress I've got is a twelve. I wouldn't exactly call it roomy, but it fits.

Where it touches...

OP posts:
JumpJockey · 13/04/2010 22:31

bobbie clearly it doesn't fit as you haven't got the necessary extra 2 arms for the other 2 armholes

tbh I think they put the extra holes in just to be obtuse, they serve no purpose once the garment's on. It's gorgeous fabric, and there's plenty in the extra neck bit to make it into sleeves or a scarf or something to with?

bobbiewickham · 13/04/2010 22:36

Yes, maybe the Poseidon thing refers to the fact you have to be a bloody octopus for it to fit...

i really want to see this in rl now

bobbiewickham · 13/04/2010 22:41

I'll send it to you!

You're bloody welcome to it...

bobbiewickam, you are very funny. I hope you either a. get a refund or b. someone appears in your life in the next few days who can drape this dress becomingly for you.

Hope you don't have to dress dog with it, or turn it into scarves/curtains.

And if I were chasing up the number of mn hits at AllSaints, I would be e-mailing you tomorrow offering you a tutorial and commending you on your good humour.

ChocolateCakeWillMakeMeRich · 13/04/2010 22:44

not read this, but the All Saints owners are parents at DD's school. I could ask then if you like

bobbiewickham · 13/04/2010 22:46

Oh fantastic, ChocolateCake!!!

Do it!!

Give them my love, too. Through gritted teeth.

ok, but will have to wait till school starts back.

bobbiewickham · 13/04/2010 22:50

This is why I love MN.

I start a thread hoping someone has the same dress, and end up practically best mates with the shop owners. Sort of.

Ace.

BomDigger · 13/04/2010 23:08

Bobbie-put a pic on your profile.
I'm desperate to see how this turns out!

bobbiewickham · 13/04/2010 23:36

BomDigger - ooh no!

Don't do pics - specially not in That Dress.

Just imagine a wobbly round the edges woman going puce in the face trying to escape from a dress that's over-endowed with armholes and under-endowed with arse coverage, and you'll be just about there.

squashedfrogs · 14/04/2010 21:55

Ok, I've been to Lakeside and tried to work out what you are meant to do to wear the dress. It seems to be that your arms go through the sleeves with the epaulettes on and the rest is draped artistically around your neck/cleavage. You can also put your arm through one of the holes if you choose but this doesn't seem to be obligatory.

If I can ever work out how to make my profile public (assuming I haven't managed to do that already! ) I took photos of the front and back of the dress on a mannequin and they are on my profile.

bobbiewickham · 14/04/2010 21:57

Thanks Squashedfrogs! That is so kind of you!

Will attempt another bash tomorrow armed with new info.

You are so kind.

squashedfrogs · 14/04/2010 22:01

No problem, it gave me another reason to justify my trip to the shops

Good luck with the gymnastics of trying to get the dress on tomorrow!

ZoneArmatrading · 15/04/2010 12:32

This thread is classic. Bobbie you are tattifilarious.

The print is gorgeous. I love All Saints although have only tried on, not bought. Not that I couldn't phyiscally get the clothes on. Although would deffo be defeated by this.

Can I just draw attention to the knobbery of the copy on the website:

"The Poseidon dress was constructed on the stand using a vintage dress sample then pulled forward creating neck drape".

Doesnt even sound like something you could wear.

bobbiewickham · 15/04/2010 12:38

I tried it again today.

I got it on without garrotting myself thanks to all you lovely helpful pisstaking ladies, but have come to the conclusion that it is just a crap dress.

Even dh couldn't work his face into an enthusiastic expression, and he was trying very hard to.

I think I'm going to take it to a seamstress. Watch this space!

OP posts:
AitchTwoZone · 15/04/2010 12:40

give it back to the shop, it's a shit dress first and foremost, the wee is of no consequence.

bobbiewickham · 15/04/2010 12:51

That's what dh thinks.

I love the print, though.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 15/04/2010 13:01

You can't return a dress that your dog has pissed on - someone else will end up with a dress they thought was new but actually smells of urine when warm.

SoupDragon · 15/04/2010 13:02

(It is a shit dress though)

bobbiewickham · 15/04/2010 13:08

I wouldn't return it.

I'm far too honest.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 15/04/2010 13:16

Now we have the MN Pouffe of Poo and the Pissy Dress. Fab collection.

AitchTwoZone · 15/04/2010 13:58

no you're right, you can't give it back. you could sell it on ebay? i think they have a box you tick for labradoodle urine.
