How interesting so many of us are/were in local/central govt. I wish I could move into the private sector but I fear I've done too many years working for the poor relations of the job world!

What a relief you found the purse Tracey but also a shame you don't have a good excuse to go shopping.

Blossoming - which part of France are you visiting? I'd pack plenty of wet weather gear as it's been tipping it down .

blossoming · 03/04/2010 19:54

bunjies we're off to Paris. The forecast is quite good, but I've been caught out before. All packed, ready for some vin rouge.
I've just read an article in the times weekend about thin French women. Round here I'm considered slim but it's all in context. Fear I will be miserable and fat in Paris. Why did I gain so much wait with dc3??

blossoming · 03/04/2010 19:56

tracey, how annoying about your purse. Did you cancel all your cards?

OllieWollieWoo · 03/04/2010 20:01

Thats great news Traceybath - sometimes these things just turn up! at Wagamamas - dont get them over here and I miss going there! What age so you think the film is suitable for? Considering taking DS1 but not sure if he is a bit too young?

Pirate restaurant was a big hit! The play area turned out to be a room off of the restaurant area - not a ball pool in sight!. Boys loved it. The restaurant area had lots of screens showing the play area so we could keep tabs on what they were up to (eg not hogging all the cars for themselves!) and food was quite posh with good kids menu so nice for DH and me!

Overly excited about my wallpaper - I love house related purchases!!

hellsbelles · 03/04/2010 20:08

apuski - yes yes - good idea - we should always link to lust items.

Tracey - glad you got it back!

Romanarama · 03/04/2010 20:13

just marking my place on the thread. In London at the mo (at Wagamama every day OWW!). One purchase so far - a pair of white baxters. Much, much window shopping in beautiful Liberty. I wish my house looked like that.

Romanarama · 03/04/2010 20:16

Come to think of it I bought a navy blazer in Uniqlo too for 39.99. Not smart but v.good summer layer with jeans.

Fel1x · 03/04/2010 21:08

Evening all
Back from lunching and shopping in London today. Had a lovely time and have come back with a fabulous floral blazer (will look great with white tee and dark jeans) and an asymetric stripe navy and white tunic which really reminds me of the VWA one linked to a while back from Primark!

Tracey - glad you've found your purse after all, although how annoying that you cancelled all your cards already

bunjies - I'm at SAHM at the moment (have ever since DS2 was born 2 years ago)
I've always worked in fashion (which is not as glam as it sounds!). I spent the last couple of years before DS1 was born working as a menswear merchandiser for Ralph Lauren Europe. Had to give that up when DS1 came along as too much travelling and long hours involved for it to be compatible with a family!
When DS1 was 6 months old I set up my own boutique with a business partner which unfortunately was a casualty of the recession and we had to close down after 2 years. Then I had DS2 and have been SAHM ever since!
Am planning total change in career once boys are both at school as we no longer in the fashion capital (London!) and I also fancy a change!

PlumSykes · 03/04/2010 21:47

Evening all!

Have been MIA lately (not that any of you noticed, ) as have been avid, rather than wise lately, and spending far, far too much.

Have been checking in on you all though, and had to post to at traceybath and the purse incident. Glad you found it, but was so hoping you might get a Smythson to replace it.

bunjies, pre-DC, I was a journalist for a weekly celeb mag. Whe DD was born 4 yrs ago, I reduced my hours and became a contributing editor. They made me redundant last Feb when I was 8 mths pregnant with DS. He's 1 next month, and I am now starting to freelance again, which is a struggle, but will get easier, I'm sure.

CHOOGIRL · 03/04/2010 21:53

Evening Ladies

Been having a wardrobe clearout today. Also went into town and bought some Russell and Bromley Gladiators second picture on the website.
Also the Wallis Maxi arrived. It suits my dark colouring, but I'm sure I heard it crackle when I took it off. Am really tempted with this which is 3x the price. Also stacked up on basic t-shirts from gap and this from Karen Millen.
Was also tempted with this skirt for summer work wardrobe, but trying to avoid Hobbs.

CHOOGIRL · 03/04/2010 21:55

Blossoming Enjoy DLP I'm tempted for end April as DD keeps nagging me about it.
Tracybath glad you found your purse
MM Missing you. Went past Next and thought of you today
Welcome back Plum

notyummy · 03/04/2010 22:37

Tracey I am sure I may have already posted this to comfort someone on the original thread who had lost something, however if it makes you feel any better, last year I went out with a teeny/unsafe bag for the evening. Thinking I was being clever I put my bank card in my bra (!) for safe keeping. I then got really rather tipsy on lots of nice wine and forgot I had put it there. I made my friends pay for my portion of the meal whilst another looked up the number of my bank on her iphone so I could cancel the card. We got back to the hotel and I got undressed - where upon it fell out of my underwear on to the bed.

Cue lots of drunken giggling...

It is bloody annoying having to wait for all the new cards to arrive though.

AllBuggiedOut · 03/04/2010 22:42

Evening all.

bunjies I used to work in medical ethics - although haven't worked since DS1 was born in 2003. Always imagined I'd go back to it freelance one day, but it seems so long ago now that it might be time for a complete change when I go back to work. I'm also surprised how many of us are/were government/civil service related - in my many an interminable meeting with such people, I never came across many that were as stylish as you lot!

Where's the best place online to buy hasbeens, btw? think the time has come to take the plunge...

CHOOGIRL · 03/04/2010 22:46

Buggied I got mine here. Arrived in 3 days

Asos have a limited collection.

hellsbelles · 03/04/2010 22:48

gosh - london was awash with A&W ladies making wonderful purchases. Choo - I've been trying to persuade Cakey to get the VIx maxi - I think it's gorgeous (though very low cut - I notice some of the pics are slightly misleading as she is wearing a matching bikini top underneath). You other one does look lovely though (despite crackles )

NY - you told me that story - and it most certainly helped so hopefully it will for tracey to.

I've booked a personal shopping appointment on Thursday at Selfridges to try and find a decent leather jacket. DH is coming too! I rather like the idea of sitting still (always a plus for me) while someone brings me lovely things to look at! Though I am very worried about the pressure to buy. If I don't like anything I know I'll feel horribly guilty!

hells if the personal shopper does his or her job properly then it won't be a problem. Surely if they can't suss your style and find something that works for you, they're probably not doing a very good job!

i have only had a personal shopper once (at Top Shop, v. muttonous) but it was fab and I came out with stuff I really loved and loads of ideas as to how to wear everything. It's actually quite a money-saving exercise as you don't buy anything that ends up hanging at the back of the wardrobe, unloved!

hellsbelles · 04/04/2010 07:18

fleecy - you are right of course

AllBuggiedOut · 04/04/2010 08:17

Thanks Choogirl - can you return to that site? Asos don't have the colours I like unfortunately.

traceybath · 04/04/2010 08:20

Choo - love that NAP maxi and imagine you would look stunning in it.

Hells - I am so envious of your personal shopping session. Do you think you'll just get the jacket? Could they help with accesories for your YSL dress too. Have a lovely time - you deserve it

Plum - yeay - glad you're back - what have you been buying then.

Blossoming - have a lovely very chic time in Paris.

Oh and back in the day when I worked I was a project manager in an agency doing websites. Was uber stressful and have no desire to go back to that. Although not quite sure what I will do when Bea starts school - something thats not stressful/fun/lucrative - oh yes because there are so many of those jobs around

LetThemEatCake · 04/04/2010 09:24

Little Wa addict here couldn't help but check infrom IPhone to say happy Easter to all. Go easy on theeggs

plum I have indeed noticed your absence Esp as don't think I ever read report on swoonsome marni coat? What else have you bought?

Tracey am both relieved and disappointed for you re purse, hells so excited about shopper!!

Choo, wardrobe clearout?? Hello???

Glad lovely days had by all in London

bunjies, pre dc I qualified as a solicitor then did variety of transient jobs while travelling, mostly involving snowboards and waitressing. Now a freelance journalist although don't do much at the mo due to time constraints of 3 dc... Bit of online, lots of inflight mags and an Aussie gossip/ lifestyle weekly.

Anyone I haven't mentioned, mwah to you all

And happy Easter again

OP posts:
notyummy · 04/04/2010 11:29

plum - good to see you back

ltec - hope the holiday is going ok

blossoming - have a great time in Paris

hells - v jealous of your personal shopping experience

choo - nice purchases

Right, have to start thinking about packing. I am not going until Wednesday morning, but am working Tuesday and out most of tomorrow at cinema and stuff with family. My MIL is having dd (and her older cousin) for 4 nights for an Easter holiday. She has easter egg hunts planned, swimming, safari park visits, forest treasure hunts etc etc.

DH is taking me to the HdV in Cheltenham! Massages are booked, and various restaurants recommended. I now just need to plan a 'temporary child-free girl about town' wardrobe for the get away.

Am off to look at the weather forecast!

bunjies · 04/04/2010 11:43

Ooh notyummy - you jammy so and so. No fair!

Blossoming - forgot you were off to DL. I wouldn't worry too much about stylish french ladies, most of the people there are english!

I have managed to restrain myself to small nibbles of the kid's eggs.

Happy Easter.

hellsbelles · 04/04/2010 12:53

happy easter all! NY - very .

Have any of you cracked the bedtime look yet (nothing saucy!)....I want to find gorgeous PJ's/tank top thingy's - but I have to find the sort that offer 'support' for the well endowed?

notyummy · 04/04/2010 17:59

Just back from a 4th birthday party

I am sure dd will want to invite this little girl to her party in July.....and the party bag we received today was VAST and chock full of a range of goodies. The bag was also handmade, personalised - as were some of the gifts inside.

I feel an attack of 'party bag insecurity' coming on. What happened to a slice of cake and a balloon?!
