sorry couldn't help myself

OP posts:
notyummy · 12/04/2010 18:47

Think I prefer the grey and straight ones tracey - however am just going from what I can see on the website as I don't own either.

ltec - I have a couple of dresses similar to that one - v nice. Trench coat sounds like a good idea. I have been wearing with plain black boyfriend cardie which is not as weatherproof! I think I like the shoes - are you daring and planning to wear with socks ?? Or does that look only work on the wiafs in mags....? I have been wearing mainly with opaques or leggings and biker boots or ballet flats.

OllieWollieWoo · 12/04/2010 18:53

LTEC - our kids share a bday - DS1 will be 5 on 2nd August! (He was 2 weeks overdue tho!)

Hells - love the jacket too - great style. (Tho must confess I had no idea who RO was and just nodded away when you posted you'd brought it! Note to self - read more fashion news!!!!)

Had quite a nice Monday - popped to Ikea this morning as DSs were at school/pre-school and its only 10mins down the mway. Was sooooo nice to have a wander round when it was nice and quiet - and also not to have deal with the whole "I wanna ice cream/hot dog" whines that occur if DSs are in tow! Brought a few bits & bobs - I'd love this bench for our hallway here but with my W&A hat on, its not v practical re hiding away clutter/shoes etc so will just continue to look at it everytime I go and sigh longingly (did buy this pretty bird tray - just because.......!)

Blossoming & Vin - very moved reading your posts.

OllieWollieWoo · 12/04/2010 19:25

Oh - just remembered! Are any of you W&A gals wearing the cuff sandals/flipflops I mentioned a few posts back????
DH has opened a bottle of cava from his booze run to Calais and now I feel quite boggled eyed - is drinking on a Monday ev wrong????

hellsbelles · 12/04/2010 19:33

vinu - fab clothes! CAn't you link to the bag? Maybe later so it's not all on one day

Marsha - how incredibly frustrating to miss because of the cabbie but so glad you can reschedule!

OWW - I am only just starting to get used to the different names - mainly due to too much NAP surfing!

Cake - they could be good. Worth a try for sure.

NY- OMG - the photos are beautiful - what an amazing place!

blossoming · 12/04/2010 19:36

That sounds great ollie. I drank every day last week, at lunch, and in the evening. I love France.. But suffering cold turkey now.
By the way, I did really well on the croissant/pain chocolat. Not one. Hopefully that will break the habit before my summer hols. We're going for 2 weeks, and I normally put on 7 lbs. There's no room for growth any more!

I want to join the cool gang. Felt hot in the park in my boots today so have purchased these. I'll have to wave goodbye to my beloved jeggings though and reaquaint myself wiith the old paige hollywood hills faithfuls.

esher, love those glads. Will try some on later in the week.

I'm playing a bit of a game. MIL wants to 'help out' with dc1 this week as we're still off. I would normally drop him off on my way shopping, but he needs to come with me if I'm buying him shorts and sandals. So I said I'd drop him off on the way back, and he could stay over with her. To which dh said 'no'. Does this make me look like a good dil/wife? Showing I've made an effort?

bunnymother · 12/04/2010 20:20

So, Blossoming - am all . Your DH doesn't want his mum to look after DC1 (ie has vetoed), although your MIL knows this was an option? In which case, how difficult for you as now MIL knows you wanted to drop DC1 w her, but DH said no. If MIL doesn't know DH has vetoed but does know that you wanted to drop DC1 around, then I would try and convince DH and would explain how much MIL is looking forward to looking after DC1. Assuming that's the best thing for DC1!

Anyway, have to run and get dinner ready, but thanks for the feedback on the bags!

Vin, Blossoming and Cakey - feel v saddened when I read about your lost little ones. Our children are our treasures and are so very precious.

RedBlueRed · 12/04/2010 20:39

Thank you to Traceybath for linking to the uniqlo website!
I'm having a lot of fun catching up and following everyones links - there are so many things I want!
Hellbelles next grey jacket is lovely.

Please would you mind giving your opinions on this blazer?

notyummy · 12/04/2010 20:41

oww - I dont get those sandals tbh. I think it is because all the people I have seen wearing them have been really dishevelled students (and not dishevelled in a insouciant, stylish way...)

Perhaps I am just getting old though.

traceybath · 12/04/2010 20:50

OWW - I think those cuff sandals would foreshorten legs dreadfully and I'm all for lengthening my legs.

Cain - nice shape but its 100% polyester and I hate polyester. In fact I think it should be pretty much banned or at least it should always be very very cheap.

eshermummy · 12/04/2010 20:51

Cake - As am sure you know, the next ltd edition chanel nailpolish is a green. Saw a magazine article about pastel nails (was it Grazia?) and was rather liking a turquoise blue one from M&S I think. Rather taken with my own nails today as had mani this morning and they are a lovely navy blue

Bunny - sorry but am not wild about any of those bags. If you could push your budget then I saw a lovely tan bag from jigsaw - the one I saw isn't on website as it was £175 but was a bit like this one

Hells - love the RO jacket, really lovely

Vin - thanks for the heads up on the E&J jacket. Have actually ordered it in 2 sizes, should be here tomorrow so we will see, although not sure if I want one that is fitted/tailored or more slouchy.
Also ordered this vest at same time as good summer basic and dirt cheap (£16) with code!

I have ordered topshop premium blazer in the beige and black in order to compare against the E&J. Also ordered top shop nude knitted sweater with studded heart on front as am struggling with this weather at mo - too cold for long sleeve tees still but really don't want to go back to winter woolies. Thought it might look cute with skinnies and blazer?

(Sorry, I can't link to topshop purchases as my laptop won't let me access topshop site . Something happened when I completed my order last night and since then everytime I get an "Error message". Am assuming it is just my laptop and not their website?)

Harem tops? - sorry I can't remember who asked about tops to wear with high waisted trews? I have just ordered this silk vest for the exact same purpose. Saw it instore but have had to order online as didn't have my size. Will report back.

Cake - are you considering those new look boots or boots of that ilk? Don't much care for those but rather like the concept of heeled lace-up. Have seen some very expensive (but lovely) versions at All Saints, trying to think where else I have seen them - think you could do better than the new look ones.

blossoming · 12/04/2010 20:54

Sorry, I'm not making much sense. I want dh to think I'm being generous by suggesting dc1 stays over with her, while really knowing he wouldn't go for it. He complains we never see her which is so untrue. But I can't cope with having her over when dh will be at work all day.

mrsjuan · 12/04/2010 20:58

So sad to read about lost babies -have given DD extra special kisses tonight.

Blossoming - how on earth did you manage to resist croissants in France? You must be a very determined lady!

That uniqlo website does my head in - does it always cut the clothes in half or is it just my computer?

Not strictly wise and avid but does anyone know much about hair? Hopefully getting mine cut this week and like the look of this

Is it going to be a nightmare to style every day?

blossoming · 12/04/2010 20:59

esher, I think Russell & Bromley have a similar heeled lace up.

traceybath · 12/04/2010 21:01

Esher - love that silk vest top - which colour have you gone for?

RedBlueRed · 12/04/2010 21:05

Ah, it hadn't occurred to me to look at the fabric and its dry clean only.

Thanks

blossoming · 12/04/2010 21:05

Like that hairstyle mrsj. I suppose it would depend on how much time you normally spend on your hair in the morning. I always have to wash and blowdry as I've got fine hair that can look greasy, so it wouldn't matter to me.

eshermummy · 12/04/2010 21:08

Tracey - I saw it instore in the pale lilac colour so have ordered that as was really lovely. But when I went online to order I saw the other 2 colours and have ordered the turquiose too. On my computer the turquoise one looks more green than blue so am hoping it will match a skirt I already have. I did um and err over the coral too tbh . Think all 3 colours are lovely. Which do you fancy?

Have you ordered the uniqlo skinnies? Am v interested to hear what they are like as at that price I could deffo have a pstel denim field-day and am mucho taken by the pale grey colour.

traceybath · 12/04/2010 21:10

Nice hair MrsJ! Like Blossoming I wash, blow dry and quick once over with the straighteners every day anyway. Is your hair naturally wavy or would you need to curling wand it?

Cain - I only look at fabrics because have noticed that lots of stuff is now polyester and its often quite expensive too.

What type of blazer are you after? To wear with skinnies etc?

Blossoming - does DH realise you find mil tricksy?

traceybath · 12/04/2010 21:12

I like the lilac Esher - may order it.

Haven't ordered uniqlo skinnies yet as keep dithering over colours/styles.

May order both and see which shape is best. Bunny says they come up big so will order small and then cry if they're too small . Have your in-laws arrived yet?

mrsjuan · 12/04/2010 21:13

I have to straighten it if I need to look presentable but normally just wash it the night before and drag the ghds through it in the morning unless it's a night out in which case I'l blow dry it first. I usually wash it every other day.

NOt sure what to do with layers though. My hair is wavy anyway but I usually straighten it.

eshermummy · 12/04/2010 21:15

OWW - am not a fan of the cuffed sandal thing, although I do like glads that extend up and around the ankle ifkwim. Those things are just too much like last year's bandal things though imo. Deffo a teens only thang in my book.

MrsJ - I can offer no advice on hair as have rubbish hair that is bane of my life which I have officially given up with

mrsjuan · 12/04/2010 21:15

Have just dropped yoghurt all down my handwash bretton top. Bugger.

eshermummy · 12/04/2010 21:18

In-laws been and gone
Actually, was not so bad, they took dd's out for an hour this arvo so I used this bonus opportunity of free time to ......clean the kitchen floor

My mil is really needy. When I met her for the first time her dh had just passed away. I think she hoped my dh would look after her, not find a new girlfriend. There's always some crisis, some job for her and dh. I hate bringing this up but when dc2 died I had to be all strong for everyone whereas she was being comforted by dh.
