Morning all, and happy birthday to me! 33 today, and already cleared up a full glass of spilt juice-hello, sticky floors for a week-and changed dozens of nappies. It's not exactly a suite at the Georges V, is it?

In honour of my birthday, I am resurrecting an A&W tradition. So, today, I am wearing:

Navy cotton ruffles smock, Topshop
Mustard boyfriend cardi, random cashmere sample sale
Dark denim skinnies, Paige
Newly done orange pedicure
Will be attempting to go open-toed for first time this year (is my birthday tradition) in navy Scholls.

Have got to pick up a friend from the station later-she's coming from London, bringing news of London and laden with London-things

DolceeBanana · 08/04/2010 09:21

Glorious sunshine here! Know what you guys mean about 'trying moments' during hols....I need more patience and for my DH to take half terms/holidays off in future !!!

Had a sort through wardrobe and found great linen trousers from Kew (about 2 years ago)...they are a fab fit (remember I have been pg for the past 3 out of 4 summers, so like a kid in a candy shop!!!)...can imagine breton top, said linen trews (dark taupe), BEIGE ash vipers, kew trench (I 'do' like it esher, after all!), navy spotted scarf...!

Also had a brochure through y.day and it has some fab, drapey, lineny tops, tanks and cardigans (quite unusual designs)...check it out :

Plum - Happy Birthday!!!

Tracey - Shame about the flapjacks...I always have probs with Nigella!! My DS had a tantrum last night too! He wanted to get dressed up as Bob the Builder at bedtime and upon being told no , he had a Huuuuge tantrum, one where he feigned sickness...crying 'my ear', 'my ear'... . Minutes later he said his ear was fine!!! Bless him!!!

Off to park and run walk to tire out have fun in the sun! Well not yet exactly because I am taking things at a slower pace, and am not yet dressed !!! Nor kiddies!!!! Although I have stripped the beds and am redoing our bed with white duvet and snow white textured spring like bedcover, rather than white duvet with thick cream windowpane check blanket...very much in the style of Plum who is welcoming Spring with open arms (brrr)!

Have a fun day !

Fleecy · 08/04/2010 09:29

Happy birthday Plum! I'll be 33 myself in a couple of months, what a marvellous age to be!

Thanks for the cake recipe tips. Think I'm going to go for the vanilla cupcakes, light chocolate cake and banana bread so as to offer some variety. DH asked if I planned to make any 'real cakes' and was bit when I said that was it! We've already got some other nibbles so don't need that much!

I am wearing my dressing gown as have been working in bed Now off to shower and have laid out navy and white blazer, ankle skinnies, white loose tank, cream beaded ballet flats, mini Mabel in Ocean which is a lovely bright blue. A rather more classic outfit than I would usually wear but am seeing my mum and that's what she likes so I shall oblige!

Have a lovely day in the sun everyone!

AllBuggiedOut · 08/04/2010 09:37

Happy birthday Plum

Glorious weather here and off to the park - but first to the wardrobe for inspiration!

What do you ladies think to black sandals, btw? Would I regret it in height of summer?

bunnymother · 08/04/2010 09:57

Happy birthday Plum! hope it's sunny where you are.

Am planning on much time spent outdoors today as it's finally sunny. And DD does love some playground time.

Romanarama · 08/04/2010 11:09

One day I will have time to look through all this, but not today as have to work out how to make the 'Republic Attack Cruiser' out of 'strawberry cream cake please mummy' for ds1's 8th birthday. Just off to sweet shop for accessories.

Anyway, I logged on to say don't buy overpriced super high CL shoes. Went to Hakkasan for dinner at the weekend and there were so many girls tottering in on them and they really looked like they had bought them because they'd read in magazines how 'desirable' they are, and worn them because they were going to a trendy restaurant so had to wear their most expensive shoes. They looked like such try-hards and most of them could hardly walk. What a waste of money! I had some on my nap wish list and have just ditched them.

traceybath · 08/04/2010 11:41

Happy Birthday Plum!

Today I am wearing zara khaki skinny jeans, ugg clogs, white AV t-shirt and nude coloured silky tie front cardi from h&m with tom ford sunglasses.

Off out to park with lovingly made picnic by ds1 - so I'll be sticking to evian

Am a bit re my outfit today esp after reading about yours Fleecy - sounds lovely - but I've got on boyfriend jeans, pale grey converse low tops, white tank vest, cerise cardi from Mexx (big step outside of my clothes comfort zone in terms of colour!) which is fine knit and has asymmetric buttons across the front so worn like a cardi. Oh yes, still wearig a thin navy & white stripe scarf from a trip outdoors earlier! Off to poke at some plants in the garden!

Happy Bday Plum Love the sound of your orange pedicure!

Belle24 · 08/04/2010 12:34

haha! I love the name of this post :-)
Peep - Toes are they way forward.... Bring on the Summer Sun hee hee!
I got my hubby to get me some real cute ones from an online website my1stwish... there actually good quality and great on price!

bunnymother · 08/04/2010 13:17

Hana - I just finished a Clinique buttershine lipstick - they are great! And City Block comes highly recommended. When I finish my current Clinique moisturiser I will be buying either City Block or the "sort your blemishes" one. Can't remember the name.

Am wearing dark denim skinnies, black patent flip flops (ladies, Gap, seriously, so good!), cream cardi and black lace trimmed cami. With my new khaki mid-season safari come raincoat - which is MUCH nicer (less bulky) in RL.

Now, can I get some opinions on this bag? I know the trend is slouchy, but my inner Cruella de Ville loves red and shiny. Still, please be honest!!

carciofi · 08/04/2010 14:07

Bunny, I like the colour but it is a bit structured for me, however, it is a classic style.

Happy birthday Plum!

I am wearing skinny navy Nobody trousers, white Splendid top and navy DKNY wrap.

Thanks for the link Dolcee, really like some of the tops.

Tracey, what do you think of these?

Fleecy · 08/04/2010 14:54

OWW glad you were impressed by my dressing gown

bunny I really like it. Classic enough to keep and add a splash of colour to winter coat/jeans combo but I could also see it working with rolled up boyfriend jeans, flats and a t-shirt in summer. Sleb style sunnies though of course!

Also, I understand we're going super ladylike in A/W '10 so that would work!

I just bought 2 AV Massachusetts tops from eBay and was hoping they would be here by now but they're not. Ah well, will be eagerly waiting for the post again tomorrow. £12 each so bit of a bargain! Seems to be genuine, someone selling a mix of clothing, mainly high street, all the same size.

Thanks for the opinions on the handbag!! DH thinks I should get it, and think I will

traceybath · 08/04/2010 20:53

Carciofi - oooh I love those. May have to wander over to Harvey Nichols and try some on.

Hells - I keep wondering how you're getting on in Selfridges - and what a gorgeous day for your shopping/dining. Really hope you've had a wonderful time - you deserve it .

Bunny - order the bag - you can always send it back if its no good.

May order some uniqlo ones - hows their sizing?

Fleecy · 08/04/2010 20:54

hana have signed up for BA but never ordered from them yet.

Disaster here - forgot to do my nails. The world is ending! They were still black from last weekend (varnish, not dirt!) and I suddenly realised they were wrong for my night out tomorrow so quick polish removal and now doing base coat, two coats of 505 plus top coat. Is this do-able in an hour? I need sleep! Have a quick dry spray so will have to risk it...

I never dare buy from Uniqlo as we don't have one here and I can never see the stuff properly on the site. I wish they'd show full pics and good close-ups!

bunnymother · 08/04/2010 21:20

Tracey - the sizing on the straight skinnies I have are v generous - I just had to order 26". Tried on my Diesel Ronhars today, which are 28" and still too small. I am a large size 10. Hope this helps. Maybe order a few sizes and return those that don't fit. They are pretty long, too - 33".

traceybath · 09/04/2010 07:38

Thanks Bunny!

Another sunny day here. Off to get new shoes for the ds's - what fun.

May whizz into new look for a quick look but hoping to go proper shopping without dc's next saturday - want a proper look in zara at dresses for the summer.

Blossoming - are you still in Paris? Hope you've had a lovely time and got a chance to go to Bon Marche.

PlumSykes · 09/04/2010 08:17

Don't forget 20% off New Look in the new Grazia, tracey

DolceeBanana · 09/04/2010 08:18

Morning all...

Sunny day - hip, hip hooray!

Well, Matalan order came and : it's all really rather good !!!!! Lovely halter neck top; 3/4 sleeve b/f cardi; basic tees and vests - all feel v good, and you wouldn't know el cheapo!

New microwave arrived (only for heating up quickly - so much easier with el bambino), from JL yday completely smashed to smithereens! JL v v apologetic - so, returning obv. and will take away old and return new on Mon!!!

Popping out for food tiday, nuffin' exciting...will wear my Ash vipers, skinny jeans, white tee and trusty b/f cardigan, ooh and sunnies!!!!

Have a great day - Tracey are you popping into Bath for DCs shoes? We always go to 'One Small Step'...!

PlumSykes · 09/04/2010 08:26

'London friend' here, so we'll be going out for lunch-poss Jamie's Italian, poss. Carluccio's. So far, am wearing

ls navy tee
this top
Burnt orange Episode chunky knit belted acrdi
Paige jeans.
Feet will probably be Ash hi-tops, but may brave toes-out again. Will see how it warms up before we head out.

and finally, my Alex Monroe Bee! DH gave it to me last night, for my birthday. I love it!

DolceeBanana · 09/04/2010 09:56

The Alex Monro Bee is gorgeous...lucky you Plum...hope you had a nice day! You always sound so colourfully and stylishly dressed too!

Top looks nice....Funny how the 'cheaper' end of the market, seem to do shapes really well....whereas MOR (i.e. Boden, Joules, Whitestuff, can sometimes be frumpy and tres conservative in shape!)...those Matalan tops are v good shapes: vests with 'narrow shoulder straps'...Tees flattering...probably because they aim to appeal to the 'younger' end of the market...

Boden et al - take note!!!!!!

Right - catch you later....off to Tesco !

VerityBrulee · 09/04/2010 10:02

Hallo stylish friends, I did something last night that only you will understand, I know if I tell this to RL friends they will think I'm nuts! I set my alarm and got up in the middle of the night to buy these Lanvin shoes on ebay

Feeling rather tired, but euphoric . I had been looking for them since last October, have had building sense of excitement all week as the auction end approached. Was explaining to dh, he has had the same feeling anticipating the Heineken Cup rugby tonight. We are well matched

Hope you are all wearing your new spring buys these days, I was a bit too enthusiastic about spring dressing the other day and now have a dreadful cold!

VerityBrulee · 09/04/2010 10:05

Happy Birthday Plum, I love Alex Monroe, the bee is lovely.

Wondering how Helles got on at Selfridges, am v
