Does your DD wear shoes like these? If so why?

I'm genuinely perplexed. I dropped DS of at a 7 year old birthday party, and at least 3 little girls of 6 or 7 were wearing them, so they are obviously popular. But why?

oh come on little girls love shite like that. the only reason my dd doesn't is because i would rather eat my own feet

BunnyLebowski · 11/02/2010 16:59

They are gopping. Very Suri Cruise.

BariatricObama · 11/02/2010 16:59

the lellikelly monstrosities

justallovertheplace · 11/02/2010 17:00

Hell no. Dd is 5 and wears (flat) lelli kellis, as bought by easily-pesetered grandparents, but those are just vile

TeaOneSugar · 11/02/2010 17:00

My dd (6), thinks they're lovely, shame she won't be having any

activate · 11/02/2010 17:00

Of course not - not until teenagers

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/02/2010 17:01

My friend has 2 girls, one who is 7, she has some bratz ones the same her dad bought her.
My friend only lets her wear them indoors but if she takes them to her dads' at the weekend she wears them all weekend.

wilkos · 11/02/2010 17:02

they are gross.

the "little miss tramp" look

ByTheSea · 11/02/2010 17:03

My DD-7 wouldn't be caught dead in those, but she prides herself on being a 'tomboy'.

Well, they were made in hell clearly but presumably they're party shoes. My deluded mother used to dress me up in a bright red velvet party dress with a bigger than your head bow on the back of it and send me off to be roundly mocked by a room of my peers. It's no better than that really. It was, mercifully, infrequent.

I'm just glad dd lives in Roary The Racing Car wellies tbh.

emsyj · 11/02/2010 17:09

My DD is still in utero, so have no idea how I will handle requests for stuff like this but do remember being a child and desperately wanting 1. a tutu (which I did get, to be fair), 2. a tiara (never happened although my mum did try to fashion one for me out of a cornflake box and a roll of tinfoil - tragic) and 3. heels heels heels. So I expect lots of little girls beg their parents for shoes like this. I would have done if they had existed when I was growing up, I know that for sure! Wouldn't have been allowed them though.

I did have a dressing up box and in there was a pair of high heeled silver glittery maryjanes with diamante buckles but they were in an adult size (dance shoes I think) so no chance of wearing them to parties.

Heels on little girls is just somehow wrong IMO, although clearly they do want to wear them. Don't think I would object to the glittery aspect if they were flat though. I would probably wear these myself if they came in adult sizes .

SoupDragon · 11/02/2010 17:11

DD wont be wearing heels (bar indoor dressing up shoes) until she is at least a teen.

Marne · 11/02/2010 17:13

Yuk, they make me feel ill (sorry).

Luckily dd1 is not very girly, i have just bought her some canvas pumps from Next which she will probably hate. She tends to wear Ugg boots or trainers. I have seen some of her friends (age 5-6) wearing heels though.

woodyandbuzz · 11/02/2010 17:14

My DD is only little, but if she wants Lelli Kellies, I will buy them so long as they are flat. I totally draw the line at high heels so I plan to make other concessions like the LKs if she wants them (otherwise we will stay well away from them!).

DD(7) would go nuts for them. I would buy them for her if they were flat and on special offer because she would love them.

izzybiz · 11/02/2010 17:23

If they are just for playing dress up or for a princess party etc then I don't see any harm in it.

My Dd has a pair of Lelli Kelly's she loved them, they are getting a little small now, and I won't be buying more!

They are only little for such a short time, whats the harm in induldging in some princess make believe for a while?

FoxForceFive · 11/02/2010 17:46

Not those - they are vile and have heels. But DD(6) has had flat LelliKellis, and sequined Hello Kitty pumps for parties etc.

And why not? A bit of sparkle isn't going to cripple her for life.

MissWooWoo · 11/02/2010 17:50

I think they're lovely party shoes - my niece (6.5) would heart them. Her mother would allow them but only for parties (it's only a couple of hours isn't it?). She would probably let her wear a smidge of lipgloss too.

dd isn't anywhere near that yet but I think I would be ok with it as a special ocassion thing.

it's just dress up!
