Does your DD wear shoes like these? If so why?

I'm genuinely perplexed. I dropped DS of at a 7 year old birthday party, and at least 3 little girls of 6 or 7 were wearing them, so they are obviously popular. But why?

No way. Not even for a party. They've got heels on, ffs.

There are millions of pretty party shoes that don't have heels, so why do people do it?

Re. OP

No 7y DD does not have shoes like that, with big heels! Not a chance. I did see the shoes myself in brantano and was

I have told DD that she can have some very very small heels when she is a bridesmaid in May - she will be 8y. But they will be much much lower and chinky heels - think children's ballroom dance shoes. But they will be a one off.

Re. Lelli Kelly shoes. Yes, DD has had LK shoes in the past and has loved them. To me they are toally different to the heels - they are fitted, they are leather, they are proper little girls shoes, not like the heels OP is talking about.

They're grim but I don't see a problem with a dd wearing them briefly at a party.

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 12/02/2010 12:05

No, no, no, not in a month of Sundays!! They have heels. Dd (age 7) and girls her age do not need heels. Not even for a party.

I am contemplating buying her some ballet flats to wear as party shoes this summer - am uhmming and aahing as I worry they won't stay on her feet (have an old fashioned belief that shoes need to be laced/buckled/velcroed to stay on )

Luckily dd has never asked for heeled shoes and judging by the shoes of her friends at various parties / school discos none of her friends have either. (sparkly converse type plimsolls or dolly shoes / ballet flats seem to be 'the thing')

MaineGirl · 12/02/2010 12:11

my dd (4) would love them. i would consider buying for dressing up clothes but not for a proper shoe ro for wearing out of the house.

lawrencesy · 22/10/2010 21:47

I've got two daughters and I've given in and bought them both some..

I nearly got them these ones..

lelli kelly shoes

But decided on a cheaper plain 'end of season' set instead.

weepootle · 22/10/2010 22:11

I'd usually be agreeing about how hideous they are and there's no way dd1 will be getting a pair. However, I caved in last week and bought her some of these for her 6th birthday.

She's been begging for them for a year but thought it was a battle she wasn't going to win. She was so shocked and happy when she opened them that I even let her wear them to her party when I'd told myself she'd never leave the house in them.

I actually now realise that I don't see the harm in them myself, I was far more worried about being judged by other mums seeing her in them.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 22/10/2010 22:18

Both my DD's would love them.

Not getting them though, they both have sparkley Monsoon shoes though.[hhmm]

HuckingFell · 22/10/2010 22:32

sequinned blue ones Little boy blue anyone?

I am on the fence. Can't decide. i know dd 6 would love them.

brimfull · 22/10/2010 22:33

harmless childrens party shoes
girls love shite like that
same as boys liking gross football shirts

brimfull · 22/10/2010 22:36

yy it's mums thinking they are being judged by other parents htat stops them letting thier dds wearing gopping shoes
let them wear what they want
it's a party

cheesesarnie · 22/10/2010 22:39
