Does your DD wear shoes like these? If so why?

I'm genuinely perplexed. I dropped DS of at a 7 year old birthday party, and at least 3 little girls of 6 or 7 were wearing them, so they are obviously popular. But why?

My ds travels to pre-school with a little girl.

Yesterday, the wee girl had her LelliKelli things on. Cue much whining from ds wanting a pair of sparkly sequined shoes, 'but BLUE because I am a boy. Like Little Bo Peep has'. I'd get him a pair if I could...

seeker · 11/02/2010 20:39

Of course they look hideous to a grown up! To a 6 year old they are the most beautiful things she has ever seen - gorgeous, glamorous and infinitely desirable! And she will remember for ever that she was allowed to wear them to so and so's party and how that made her feel.

TheFallenMadonna · 11/02/2010 20:40

DD is 6 and adores a bit of sparkle. She has a pair of sequinned pumps for parties, but if she saw those I reckon she'd swoon. But then I have a pair of silver wedges myself of which I am very, very fond...

paisleyleaf · 11/02/2010 20:41

"if you can't wear glittery shoes when you are six then when can you????"

My DD asked for a similar pair to these when she saw them while we were shopping for school shoes back in August.
I didn't get them at the time, but did think I might treat her sometime. Just for dress-up.

I longed for a pair of sling backs when I was a child..and when I got them for my birthday I have never forgotten how that made me feel ..

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 20:56

Dd (5.5) has never seen shoes like that, but she'd love them! They could be a welcome addition to our dressing up box.

shhhh · 11/02/2010 21:07

lynette..I guess you don't have girls..?

I personally have never bought dd any shoes like that (BUT she does have princess ones with a heel..they are dress up) I wouldn't have a problems if she wanted something similar for a party.

What the harm for an hour or so wear..?

Now, about lelli kellies..whats everyone's problem with them..? Lovely hardwearing shoes imo.
Beat clarks anyday in wear and style.

shhhh · 11/02/2010 21:14

feck, even ds (3) would lust after a pair .

He sooooooooooooooooo loves dd's princess shoes..!

havoc · 11/02/2010 21:16

I've just been to dance class with my DD, and about half the girls wear that exact shoe. Although most come off mid way through the lesson!
I don't have a problem with them, they are not going to do much damage in a couple of hours.

I don't think DD (5) is ready for them yet. If she's anything like me, she be hopeless in heels.

Cadmum · 11/02/2010 21:19

Somehow I have learned to live with dd2(3) wearing only a tutu or a bathing suit but I could NEVER let her wear shoes like that. Her body is growing and her health depends on having 'proper' shoes.

Dd1(10) wouldn't ever have wanted them but now that she is nearing puberty that could all change.

sungirltan · 11/02/2010 21:21

the glittery heeled shoes are ganking (but i object to heels on weenies - then again the next ones on the other thread were worse). i can abide the lelli ones because they are flat and look like childrens shoes.

lizandlulu · 11/02/2010 21:23

my dd whos 4 HAD those. dh bought them for her (against my wishes i might add) not because of the sparkle cause i love abit of sparkle, but cause of the heel, i just though they were too much for her, even for playing in. but he bought them anyway and about 2 weeks later nearly broke her ankle trying to come down some stairs in them so they went in the bin

broke my heart to waste £20 but it would have been worse if she had actually broken any bones

LynetteScavo · 11/02/2010 21:37

I do have a 4yo DD, She would be horrified if I sugested those shoes, jsut because they are not trainers. Which I wouldn't becuase they look dangerous and hideous uncomfy.

LK's may be a bit jazzy, but at least they're comfortable. (I'm presuming; I've never actually worn any)

ooh Lynette am so that your daughter would reject those horrors in favour of nice sensible trainers.

Where did I go wrong?? DD certainly didn't get her Barbie-trailer-trash-clothes-lovin' gene from ME

islandofsodor · 11/02/2010 22:09

They are horrible but dd would love them especially with the Hannah Monatana branding.

Little girls have no taste, just face it.

shhhh · 12/02/2010 10:07

mrswoolf, those trainers you inked to...dd has them in silver. Actually very nice.

The shoes you linked to are prob the most OTT but then thats lelli kelli for you...

Boots..hmm not my choice.

The shoes I get for dd are actually nice.

And about hardwearing, I find them better than clarks. They even wash brilliantly.

RockbirdandHerSpork · 12/02/2010 10:11

They're vile. My 7yo niece has various colour sparkly ballet pumps from Monsoon which satisfy her need for glitter. I'll be sticking with that for dd.

nope, dd is obsessed with 'tap dancing shoes' as she calls them... ballet pumps. she's 5 and her current pair are a sort of dark silver from next

one of her friends wears lellikelli and they're disgusting!

Lighteningbugs · 12/02/2010 10:21

only im allowed bad taste.

RoseWater · 12/02/2010 11:06

Horrid shoes - DD and all her 6/7 yo classmates would love them
