Does your DD wear shoes like these? If so why?

I'm genuinely perplexed. I dropped DS of at a 7 year old birthday party, and at least 3 little girls of 6 or 7 were wearing them, so they are obviously popular. But why?

They are vile,my dd would adore them.
If I came across them in a charity shop,I would get them for her dressing-up box.

mathanxiety · 11/02/2010 18:03

No harm for a little girl to swan around in something pink and sparkly and unsuitable for a few hours, possibly with some similar colour on her nails... I wouldn't allow heels for every day though. I quite like the lellikellys.

Plonker · 11/02/2010 18:07

Oh dear God, they're dreadful!

I've just asked my nearly 7yo dd what she thinks of them, she got extremely giddy and said they're really nice. And she's not into clothes or fashion at all.

No way would I let her wear them though - I don't let my 10yo wear heels either.

Kyrie · 11/02/2010 18:11

Only for parties but I can see myself buying these when DD is old enough.

I would have adored them when I was 6 or 7. Pink, sparkly, playing at being grown ups - it's harmless.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 11/02/2010 18:13

They border on the offensive imo.

DD (3) spotted those exact ones in Brantano last week, and started stroking them acquisitively, exclaiming about their beauty.

I fecking despair, I really do. Is there some sort of princess pusher with pink sparkly drugs hanging round pre-school playgrounds?

Actually, what size do they go up to?

PandaEis · 11/02/2010 18:37

i dont think they are offensive but they are a little vulgar! i would maybe get them second hand if they were cheap for DD when she plays dress up but not for constant use

Themasterandmargaritas · 11/02/2010 18:40

Thank goodness we live millions of miles away from such atrocities

My dd is excited about getting a pair of purple crocs.

There's no harm in a bit of dressing up or party fun though, is there?

I'd buy them without heels for dd for parties if she wanted them.

dexter73 · 11/02/2010 18:46

My dd had a pair of sparkly heels for dressing up/parties when she was little but now she is a teenager heels are out and she trudges around in Uggs!

crankytwanky · 11/02/2010 20:07

Heels are vile on children, but nowt wrong with a bit o' glitter when you're 7.

seeker · 11/02/2010 20:14

5've never met a little girl who didn't love the 'trailer trash Barbie' look. Maybe a party is the time to let them indulge it?

My dd used to buy leopard print mini skirts and similar from charity shops - she was allowed to wear them inside our front door so long as she went to her room if anyone rang the door bell!

LaurieFairyCake · 11/02/2010 20:21

Ok, the heels a little high but apart from that they don't look much different to nice dance shoes - they have a rounded toe and a strap. Their not stilletos or anything - they look like tap shoes

I think there is a lot worse out there.

duckyfuzz · 11/02/2010 20:26

god no, they're hideous!

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2010 20:27

yes
because she LOVES them and got on her hands and knees and BEGGED me
because they are Party Shoes!
because she chose them
because I let my dd choose her party shoes
because she is her own person rather than an outlet of my tastre

because they are ooo, sparkly
if you can't wear glittery shoes when you are six then when can you????

rainbowinthesky · 11/02/2010 20:28

Mind you like harpsichord if she begged I'd get her the heels!

Katz · 11/02/2010 20:29

if you said to school i'd have said no way but other than they're a little glitter-tastic i'd can see what's wrong for parties. My dd2 has some silver one simialr which were her sisters ballroom dancing shoes which she loves but they are just for parties and dressing up.

SixtyFootDoll · 11/02/2010 20:29

Those are fab party shoes!
I used to love my silver party sandals when I was that age.

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2010 20:30

I swear she was LITERALLY on her knees

DD often dresses herself up naffily. As said already if you cant do this when you're six when can you.

who cares though? about being "naff"?
when you're six?
I can tell you my dd doesn't know or care that other people think her taste is "naff"
and neither do I.
I mean it is not like she is wearing Playboy hotpants
it's JUST SHOES
