mrsjuan - hope your dd is feelng better soon.

RipMacWinkle · 08/02/2010 13:08

Wow this is an amazing thread.

In a Fast Show stylee - this weekend I have been mostly reading it, looking at links and catching up.

I can claim to be neither stylish nor beautiful but I would love to be. Have that classic mum dilemma of being early thirties with 2 kids and no idea what my style is any more (if I ever did). But am seeing lots of things I like!! Unfortunately I don't have the budgets of some of you but I can dream

Anyway, wanted to delurk and say hello rather than just skulk around.

As you were...

hellsbelles · 08/02/2010 13:12

hello rip...nice to have you join us! This is a very dangerous thread though I have spent more in the last month than I have in years!

DolceeBanana · 08/02/2010 14:47

Hello hello...after manic weekend househunting...not easy with three babies in tow as Mum away! Fell in love with one house but DH determined to find wreck and gut (at top of budget of course!!!) I meanwhile am a sucker for good lighting and chalky paints !

Sorry to hear about sick babies...hope all better...

Verity - We have a Phoebe too!!

DolceeBanana · 08/02/2010 14:55

Btw, did not buy myself anything at the weekend, but did buy DCs a few new clothes courtesy of John Lewis...

DD, typically for a 2.5 yo was picking up some v cute flip flops to wear on the 'yurt' holiday we have booked later on in the summer!!!! Oh dear...!

DS just wanted some pirate pants !

I would have loved to have a browse around the womens section, but DH and I didn't get a look in ! No, just as we were about to have a recce serious tantrums kicked off in all directions, only stopped by a dear old lady who distracted the DCs, but who apparently had Alzheimers according to her adult Grandson who sheepishly led her away, presumably before she embarrassed him!!!

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 15:37

Oh Marsha I'm afraid I'm no help - I really like those boots!! As far as the running goes, DH works for himself and has an office near-ish to our home, as well as an office in the house (which is basically just a dumping ground for bits of paper) ... anyway, on the days that he's not shooting, he goes into the office to catch up on checking over kit, invoicing, admin etc ... so just goes in a bit later if I want a run. I left at 8 this morning and was back by 8.45 so he left about 9.15, not massively late. However, he's then often away for weeks at a time so I get no down time at all... hence my reluctant purchase of the Davina DVDs. What I really want to find is a responsible high-schooler, maybe 16 years old or so, who can swing by on their way home from school for an hour every day to give me time to run.

How & how often do you factor it in?

remind me bunny, which asos top are you getting? glad you had fun on sat night!!

mrsJ you poor thing, hope it passes really quickly .. my 2 seem fine now but a bit off their food. You deserve a kiss. Here - xx

Hello Rip - nice to have you here. Any other lurkers, please say hello!!

So am I right in thinking that we have 3 Phoebe and 1 Phoenix dds on this thread!!?? Great minds... it's not just a clothes thing ...

Just back from a 2hr session at softplay and my wellies just arrived. Not exciting, but a package is a package, right?

Hana
Like the skirt !- Think if you get it you'll get loads of wear out of it ... I have a similar one from CKidston (just denim, not a flower in sight) and its a great basic that I wear and wear!!! A line v flattering too...

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 16:16

hi hana that dress is lovely, fabulous colour!! will look great with metallic shoes

not sure about the skirt - think inverted pleats are a bit .. but oh my, those boots!! No fear of me bidding against you, not with my feet!!

DolceeBanana · 08/02/2010 16:16

LTEC did you take all DCs to softplay ...just asking cos I always lose DD (middle one) when this happens!!! She, who knows no bounds! I then spend a fraught 60 seconds (but feels like 10 mins) searching whilst trying to keep track of DS and baby and find her rolled up hiding...is it like this for you? I try to take her with just the baby in tow now....

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 16:22

Nah I take 'em all!! they always turn up eventually.

had a girlfriend with me today, with her 3yo dd and newborn .. so I was able to leave dc3 with her from time to time so that I could get amongst it with help the kids

OP posts:
DolceeBanana · 08/02/2010 16:31

Sounds familiar!

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2010 16:36

Ltec currently I am a frustrated runner as it's dark when dh gets home, which means I'm waiting until British Summer Time kicks in. My friend gets her cleaner to hang around when she runs, but then that's £8 an hour. hmm could do that.

Actually if I had any oomph I could go for an early morning run!

Yy boots still on the cards, waiting for me at Liberty, but they aren't that nice suede they are black leather??. (Still, I feel more comfortable with this now you've all said you have nice black boots.)

Hana that M&S orange dress is lovely!

DolceeBanana · 08/02/2010 16:48

Right, have summer wedding to go to sans enfants...want something v dressy but funky for day, with killer heels (dare I go for some Loubs????)...and will need another outfit for pm. It coincides with my 41st Bday weekend, and we are staying as parents babysitting for weekend!!!....and to my thinking my 40th was rather quiet, so ...What do you think I should gor for ladies? Any recommendations...???Have dark blonde hair...and medium skin tone....

P.S. Wedding couple and attendees all trendy 30's/40's.....

dexter73 · 08/02/2010 16:49

hanaflower - there are some nice denim skirts in Gap at the moment.

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 16:49

well, how long do you run for? In any case, it's cheaper than gym membership + creche + the plastic surgery needed to get frown lines out of face induced by trauma of getting dcs in and out of cars, car seats and gym carparks...

My kids have a real issue with my cleaner otherwise I'd give it a go.

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 16:51

DB beware Loubs at grassy wedding ... I was literally rooted to spot in mine on more than one occasion at a 2008 wedding.

what size and shape are you??

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 08/02/2010 16:53

hana - love the dress - perfect colour. I"m very tempted. I got the denim skirt from Gap - tis quite flattering.

MarshaBrady · 08/02/2010 17:24

haha yes quite true re gym. Plus the knowing the baby is in the creche is never relaxing.

I need to get one of those shock absorber bras then I can start. I feel it's going to be very painful to start with as have lost all fitness gained by swimming when pg dammit so need to get first few runs over as quickly as possible. I am going to hate it.

I wore Louboutins for my wedding and walked down a grassy aisle, luckily it was rock hard from lack of rain, nearly tripped over a tussock.

traceybath · 08/02/2010 17:40

Hana - I like the dress but think the skirt is dare I say it - a little mumsy.

Had a look on the jigsaw website last night and quite look some of their new season stuff, particularly this, scarf, orange scarf

RipMacWinkle · 08/02/2010 17:47

Hanaflower - that skirt is lovely. Similar to one i like in Oasis here but I'm not convinced it's my shape (am clueless about such things!)

Tried those pewter M&S pumps on in our local store about an hour ago but left them for now. Am a South Lanarkshire gal living half way between geordieminx and redliquorice

RipMacWinkle · 08/02/2010 17:50

Hmmm tracey that was my other concern with that skirt and the pleats. Does it scream "mum-who-thinks-she's-funky-but-is-not"?

hellsbelles · 08/02/2010 17:52

As someone with no sense at all on this fashion stuff...are chinos going to be in? I keep seeing them everywhere.... for instance here

That price is crazy of course...but what's the voting....should chinos stay in decade where they belong (was it 80s or 90s?) or are they due a revival?

GeorginaWorsley · 08/02/2010 17:55

Love the Jigsaw cardigan tracey

blossoming · 08/02/2010 17:58

Oh, no hana, in the video of that orange dress the model is wearing cork patent wedges, exactly like the ones I'm flogging on ebay. I think I may have been too hasty..
