Ladies, welcome to Spring

Love the jigsaw scarves tracey. That cardigan looks a bit short to me.

GeorginaWorsley · 08/02/2010 18:13

What size and colour are your wedges, blossoming??

Fleecy · 08/02/2010 18:13

Get a nanny! We got our nanny when she was 17 so she wasn't ridiculously expensive (we do pay her a good wage though - just to clarify!). But she is a real gem - level-headed, neat, polite, firm but fun. The kids love her.

She comes two days a week and I go to the gym both of those days if I can, plus one other day too.

Nanny works out fairly equivalent to nursery here if you have two under three - and we were going to get a cleaner but don't need one now as we have more free time!

We got her because I was finding it impossible to write in the day with both DCs to look after (they were both under two when I went back to work) and was burning out spending every evening working late.

hana get the boots, get the boots. They're fab!

traceybath · 08/02/2010 18:15

Rip - I wouldn't wear the oasis skirt but am not a fan of a-lines as they don't suit me.

Hells - spooky have just been googling slim fit chinos - was another thread in S&B about wearing them rolled up with heels - am going to have to try it methinks.

Blossoming - I'm short so cardigan would be fine on me. Am seeing it with denim mini or the white skinny baxters I've just seen on topshop website . . .

Am really liking the orange scarf which is a departure colour wise for me.

blossoming · 08/02/2010 18:16

Georgina they're gorgeous 41 russell & bromley [wails], and starting bid of 99p. Feel ill.
On the same note, yuck at those chinos. Remind me of a very ugly phase I went through in the 90s, I blame Gap. Don't go there any more.

dexter73 · 08/02/2010 18:20

I'm not even going to comment about chinos as I got told off for dissing the rolled up chinos/high heels combo on that thread!

GeorginaWorsley · 08/02/2010 18:21

Oh no,am only a 38
I am on a quest for summer metallic or patent wedges, not ridiculously high, but not too mumsy either.
Can you end the listing early and keep them??

Fleecy · 08/02/2010 18:25

hells I am going to look for chinos tomorrow (as long as no new work comes in early on...) I really like them worn like [http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=15683&vid=1&pid=692956&scid=692956032 this] and have some wedges that look almost exactly like that from the front.

I hear leather shorts will be big for summer. Not going there though - used to have some leather hotpants for clubbing but my legs are not toned enough for hotpants, unless on holiday!

Fleecy · 08/02/2010 18:26

I see I am alone in my liking of the chinos then!

OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2010 18:42

Fleecy I'm not normally a fan of Esprit - but in a big store of theirs last week they had a huge range of chino type trousers - wide leg, ankle length/ slim fit etc etc in some lovely shades of cream/tan & beige. Had them styled with cropped navy blazers and various stripey t's and crisp white shirts - thought how chic it all looked!

Fleecy · 08/02/2010 18:45

Oooh thanks - I'll have a look in there tomorrow then. I'd like some slimish ones, nothing too baggy and I've just got a lovely navy blazer for spring so I'll be all set then! Yay

traceybath · 08/02/2010 18:56

Fleecy - I like chinos too but would like them to be very skinny cut.

Isn't this pretty - I do love a bit of liberty print - would look nice with white skinny baxters.

hellsbelles · 08/02/2010 19:25

so that's a yes from Tracey and Fleecy! And a no from blossoming and Dexter

I just can't help warming to them although all instincts wail no! They looks so comfortable (and as you all know by now that is my byline )

Tracey - I think I may have to claim one of those orange scarves for myself too/

dexter73 · 08/02/2010 19:34

I don't dislike chinos on other people - I just feel like this in them!

traceybath · 08/02/2010 19:38

Thats a look dexter .

I do know what you mean though - I often see someone wearing something - try something on similar and just laugh.

I also suspect DH would hate the rolled up chino with heels look.

I need to return a skirt to topshop tomorrow and a dress to the white company so may buy scarf in jigsaw with the 'free' money.

blossoming · 08/02/2010 19:47

I'm with you there dexter. Didn't mean to offend any chino wearer or gap shopper by the way. I just hoped my being mistaken for a boy look had long gone .

carciofi · 08/02/2010 19:52

I like chinos and am also on the lookout for a skinny fit pair (aiming for the Hamptons look rather than Cotton Trader!).

Tracey, I received a customs charge of £23 for the Current Elliots.

Fleecy · 08/02/2010 19:57

As my MIL would say, it wouldn't do for us all to like the same! I am definitely going to do the chino thing though. DH liked it with boyfriend jeans last year so I think he'll like it with chinos.

I also think they would look cute with flat metallic sandals and a vest in summer. Or is that really too dated?

GeorginaWorsley · 08/02/2010 20:01

I think it depends on the colour of the chinos, tbh.
I had a pair in the early 1990's from Next anand the stone colour always reminds me of them!
I think i will stick to linen trousers, vest, metallic sandals.

carciofi · 08/02/2010 20:08

I was about to order an American Vintage white l/s t-shirt but can't bear to pay that much for it as no doubt DD will throw spaghetti at me the day I wear it! Where is good for longer line t-shirts? American Apparel? I am sure this has been asked before but can't find it.

traceybath · 08/02/2010 20:11

Oooh Carciofi - did they phone for the customs charge? Hopefully you'll get them soon.

Blossoming - I agree regarding gap though - I think the quality of their stuff is dire and the stores are so badly laid out.

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 20:15

the chinos get a no from me, but am sure I will see lots of lovely long-limbed ladies looking fabbers in them this SS. I just don't do well with vaguely preppy looks, hence my inability to do nautical/ linen trousers/ ditsy florals etc. Admire it on others though.

tracey lovely orange scarf. I am loving a bit of orange at the moment ... think my SS10 wardrobe needs some ... any suggestions for me ladies?

Blossoming are you mad woman???!! do not sell those shoes!!
They are very similar to my Choo patent cork wedges up the top here and no way I am parting with them yet .. do you want me to swoop in at the last minute and place a high bid so no one else gets them .. have done this before and it works fine.

OllieWollieWoo · 08/02/2010 20:17

The Esprit site is terrible for doing links to but go to www.esprit.co.uk and look under trousers then under 'relaxed and casual' - lovely sandstone chinos on there esp ankle length ones. Even the rolled up ones look good.

blossoming · 08/02/2010 20:59

Thanks LTEC, I'm such an ebay novice .

However, I bought those down in London with some girlfriends two years ago after a liquid lunch.
I have worn them once.
The truth is they do not look good on me.
So, true to the original spirit of this thread and being so tired of opening my wardrobe and seeing costly mistakes they can go.
Now, someone pay me good money for them .

Dc2 had inset day today, so I took him to Chester to buy new school shoes, and as it happens the best shop for school shoes in Chester is Russell & Bromley, so I was going to have a quick look to see if there was anything for Saturday night (haven't bought that anglomania top yet though). The shop was closed! For five weeks, since last Friday. Must have been a sign! Stop spending!!

geordieminx · 08/02/2010 21:34

Rip - does your local M&S belong in a town begining with H?
