Ladies, welcome to Spring

morning everyone!!

hana would end of April by the sea still be a bit chilly? I'm always optimistic about the weather and then always freezing and miserable . Maybe something jersey with sleeves?

MM that's fabulous about your dd, what a difference a night of sleep makes!! my dd was a fantastic sleeper from the very beginning which perhaps lulled me into a false sense of security and explains the 16month age gap between her and ds1 .... blimey did I get my come-uppance with him - I think it was also around the 20month mark that he finally started sleeping through, right before ds2 was due... the thought of dealing with a newborn and a broken0nighht toddler was truly striking fear into my heart, had a close call there!! Really glad you have successfully shopped from your loft and that the walks guide is good - have a wonderful, wonderful weekend

hells - glad you had a good night and felt good in your dress, bet you looked lovely. Do you really think you can't do nudes? we have similar colouring I think and I've been wondering about my own ability in that regard ... will see how the ASOS top looks on, colour-wise at least, even if the quality sees it being sent back.

On that note, I think it was Verity who mentioned the other day about circumventing ebay on this thread and it does sound like a very good idea, since so many of us seem to have quite similar taste (Black Rats, Tam Tam etc !!) I have, thanks to MN, managed to sell my Bayswater which saved me the hassle of listing it on ebay, not to mention the fees they would have charged me for the sale price. So what do we think about maybe mentioning stuff we're thinking of ebaying on this thread and seeing if one of our BFFs would like to buy it instead? MM I have a feeling I would like a rummage around in that loft of yours!! Thanks for the rec on Bullfrogs too, will check it out next week if I can get over there

right, baby crying, must dash - have a lovely day all

Hello all,

Not posted for a few days so just been catching up with all your purchases and links. Stuff looks fab. Loving the all the nude shoes!

Sorry to hear about ill children - hope they're all starting to feel better. My DD is suffering with a cold and molars coming through. Seem to be wiping a constant stream of snot!!

Hunter debate made me smile. I've been wearing them since I was about 13 (when believe me, I was far from fashionable!!) and still wear them today. Would be gutted if people thought I was trying to be too hip with them but mine have always been used for mucking out horses and dog walking and always look very well used! Would love a red pair. I do hope they don't become like Hackett if you know what I mean!!!

Will finally get my Hush things today after I pick them up from post office and hopefully my grey coast dress. Can't wait. Oh....and my citizen jeans which I took to be shortened slightly and have the waist nipped in. Very excited!!

LetThemEatCake · 05/02/2010 09:14

PS hope I didn't offend anyone with my reluctance to don Hunters. I live very near a certain neighbourhood where they're worn by a certain type of woman

Hells - those Miu Miu shoes are just gorgeous!!

Oh dear, ladies, I swore I wasn't buying anything until April and have failed. Dismally. Yesterday I bought:

  • thick black leggings (Accessorize - will let you know how I go as haven't tried them on yet),
  • a tan leather belt (H&M) - it looks good, but will have to ask some RL girlfriends if its actually cheap looking and I have been tricked;
  • a purple scarf w some pink and white (Massimo Dutti),

then this morning:

  • a Darling light ivory coat (my summer coat - I actually don't have one!); then about to buy
  • the ASOS nude top MM linked to.

My experience with ASOS has been v mixed - most of it goes back, but you do find the odd treasure. I do not understand how they can get the website so right, but fail to accurately photograph them?!

Am also going to the Jumble and Pearls sale this weekend w my sister and some girlfriends - may take new purchases along to get a RL opinion. My sister will tell it to me straight!

bunnymother · 05/02/2010 09:25

MM - congratulations on the good night's sleep! Sleep deprivation is torture. Hope this is the start of solid sleep for all of you! Our DD woke this morning at 4am, so I actually pulled her into bed w us (v rare) and after she pulled DH's hair and hit him in the back for about 15 mins or so she fell asleep. Actually quite lovely to sleep next to her.

BTW anyone noticed our new emoticon??

Redliquorice · 05/02/2010 09:40

Morning everyone! Still full of the cold here and feeling very sorry for myself! However, have spent my time reading your lovely posts and drooling at the fantastic links you all provide. I love, LOVE,LOVE all the nude stuff but am really unsure how a red headed pale person such as myself could pull it off. Any idea? And, no, I'm not getting fake tanned! Embrace the paleness!!

MarshaBrady · 05/02/2010 10:33

Oh no Redliquorice, I think a red-headed person would look stunning in nude clothing. No need for the fake tan!

traceybath · 05/02/2010 12:11

Do paige skinny jeans come up big or true to size??

Just about to order from cocosa sale . . .

traceybath · 05/02/2010 12:18

Right ordered the 26inch waist and hope they fit - bargain as £65 instead of nearly £200.

Dreadful night - arthur (ds2) woke up and vomited spectacularly all over brand new pale blue candy striped cologne and cotton bedlinen! Poor thing - so much bathing and changing of bedlinen in the middle of the night.

MM am very envious of your good night sleep! Have a wonderful time in Paris.

Hells - love those shoes.

Feel very unkempt today - need to get waxing etc done. But hair being done next weekend - hurrah.

Mimi1977 · 05/02/2010 12:39

I'm not offended LTEC!!

Fleecy · 05/02/2010 12:53

tracey - I nearly ordered from Cocosa today, had it in my calendar. But noticed just in time that the jeans I wanted had a 30 inch leg and I need 34 - boo!

traceybath · 05/02/2010 12:55

Which ones were you going to order fleecy? I ordered the dark wash skinnies.

So do you ladies iron? Just been on the ironing thread and am amazed at how many people don't iron.

traceybath · 05/02/2010 13:11

LTEC - tank

Or I really like the look of this one

I wish topshop still did their lovely ones they did a few years ago - not ribbed but just really nice thick cotton.

Fleecy · 05/02/2010 13:11

Those are the ones I wanted. They look lovely - and a good price too. I was also tempted by the straight leg ones in a lovely mid-blue wash and they had 33.5" leg. But I only ever really wear skinnies, occasionally skinny flares with wedges in summer. So I think I would have been buying for the sake of it!

I hope yours are perfect. At least then one of us can enjoy them

Fleecy · 05/02/2010 13:12

And no, I don't iron. I buy tight clothes

DC's stuff gets tumble-dried, DH does his own ironing.

mrsjuan · 05/02/2010 13:41

I used to live in those topshop tank tops during the summer tracey - don't they do them anymore?

I too am shocked at how many people don't iron at all! I iron most of mine & DH's things with the exception of underwear and towels. I try not to iron DD's clothes but if something is still looking crumpled when it's dry I'll iron it. For some reason lots of people seem to think that frilly dresses with bows on make good presents! Cant' they see that it just makes more work for me?

On a similar vein I know someone that never dries her clothes outside - everything goes in the tumble dryer!

Whoever it was that recommended the m&s pumps - was it the £45 or £19 ones? I can't remember and they look similar. Thanks

Anyone else found me a navy dress yet? Have now got 3 hen nights (different sets of friends) and 3 weddings this year so am thinking that I can spend a bit more than usual on outfits because I can wear them 3 times without anyone knowing

Redliquorice · 05/02/2010 13:45

LTEC - I recently got a few of these www.littlefashiongallery.com/en/shop/prod/2/66-Medium-Fashion-Gallery-/68-girls--10---16-years-/2851 4-ecume-top.html?manufacturer_id=174. Lovely quality cotton with no ribbing! The image is a bit rubbish but if you zoom in you can get a better look. I ordered the age 20 (actully ordered a lot, including this www.littlefashiongallery.com/en/shop/prod/2/66-Medium-Fashion-Gallery-/68-girls--10---16-years-/2876 0-basilic---cashmere-and-cotton-short-sleeved-dress.html?manufacturer_id=174 which is lovely.) to be on the safe side but I could probably get away with age 18 (am a size 10).

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 05/02/2010 13:50

We iron here (or used to until I found someone to do it for me!)

LetThemEatCake · 05/02/2010 14:19

we don't even own an iron. Nope, this is an iron-free zone. Much to my mother's chagrin when she comes to visit.

tracey - that's exactly what happened with dd the other night, threw up in her sleep all over the bed, got her up, showered her, changed the bed, got her sorted and then 2 hours later - huuuuurrrrrrlll - and back to square one. She was fine the next morning, hope A is okay today.

Thanks also for the tank recommendations, the shoulders aren't quite wide enough though, dammit I had the perfect one before!! £4 from Sainsbury's!! Red I can't open your links but will put them in properly later. Thank you

I'm also liking the idea of navy with that skirt, would that be okay do you think?

MRSJ - get the outnet one!!!! It's divine!! 3 occasions at £150 per frock more than justifies the cost.

Just arrived home from museum to find ASOS parcel has arrived, will report back later.

Right off to check out the Outnet's weekend shop in - it's metallic this week so like a moth to a flame .....

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 05/02/2010 14:30

phew. Don't like any of it.

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 05/02/2010 14:57

oh MrsJ _ I know it's probably not evening-y enough but it's rather chic, non?

OP posts:
Fleecy · 05/02/2010 15:37

It would work for a wedding though - with metallic accessories, a really 'wow' necklace and a lovely, slightly messy up-do.

mrsjuan · 05/02/2010 15:41

Yes - quite like that one LTEC. There are no size 10s left in the Roksander one else I might be more tempted. As it is I'd have to get a size 8 and have to diet for 2 months before I wore it each time or get a size 12 and have to eat more cakes!

GeorginaWorsley · 05/02/2010 16:23

tracey I to miss those Topshop tank vests.I don't like the new ribbed ones.
To mimi and anyone interested in the Monsoon Toulouse dress,it arrived yesterday and is very nice, but the neckline is a bit high for me and it has a deep frill down the front which doesn seem very flattering!
www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/65206676&bklist=icat,5,shop,women,dresses,smartdresses

LetThemEatCake · 05/02/2010 16:27

ooooh, think I've just found the style of top I'm after here

avail in white and navy so do we think navy will work with my skirt?

agree with Fleecy that that Miu Miu dress would be good for a wedding; is also classic enough to get loads of wear in future
