Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 04/02/2010 09:21

Ah, I need to be able to order it and get next day delivery.

monkeysmama · 04/02/2010 09:31

Is this pretty and could be worn with l/s cream tshirt underneath?

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 09:49

I love it!! Really lovely print! Mind if I copy?

hellsbelles · 04/02/2010 09:57

very pretty. Absolutely would not suit me but I would love it if it did.

Who linked to that Balanciaga bag the other day? I am so I want it - it looks like the perfect bag for me. But I can't justify buying it. Urghhhhhhhh

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 04/02/2010 11:10

Morning guys. How are we all? I wasn't here yesterday so i need to catch up, you miss loads in one day!

I've just recieved this top I can't make my mind up with it at all.

Went to the cinema with a friend last night which was lovely, never go anymore. Saw 'It's complicated' was quite good.

My hair looks hideous today because i've had a brazilian blow dry and i can't wash it for 33 days - ugh it's disgusting. Am going to have to stay in all day!

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 04/02/2010 11:15

Hells - that was my Balanciaga bag. Dh bought it me for my birthday last summer - chose it himself! It's my third Balanciaga bag but it's the best bag i've had, the grey looks lighter in rl, i wouldn't have probably gone for the grey myself but it does with everything. I can get everthing i need for the baby in it easily.

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 11:16

BBFF - top looks gorgeous, but looks like one of those that depends v much on your height, weight and colouring ie hideous on me, but great if tall, lean-ish and dark of hair.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 04/02/2010 11:22

Lol, can't wash hair for 3 days. Not 33. Now that would look bad!

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 11:28

Have you had a Brazilian blow dry before, and are they good?

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 04/02/2010 12:01

Yeah i have had them twice before. My hair is naturally very curly and frizzy, and whilst they don't make it straight it is smooth and frizz free and more wavey than curly. They last about 10 weeks for me.

Right this is completely the wrong place to ask this but i feel like you're friends and you've had babies.. I keep getting this sensation of the first 'prodding' movements of a baby when you're pregnant just about cs scar. I'm as sure as i can be that i can't be pregnant but it's really really weird and i'm starting to freak. Has anyone ever known of this??

hellsbelles · 04/02/2010 12:05

burning - I've heard about those brazilian blow dry's - I was very disappointed that my hairdresser said my hair was too fine for it

Which colour would have you have gone for bag wise (I think the grey is rather gorgeous)....I've seen this and this

Too much for me but no harm in lusting

BBFF - agree it's tricky to tell without seeing on! But colours are lovely.

hellsbelles · 04/02/2010 12:07

Burning I did't have a C section but I know exactly what you mean. I actually did a pregnancy test as I was so sure I felt a 'baby movement' - seems to have eased off (it was about 6 months pp)

LetThemEatCake · 04/02/2010 12:17

ooooh BBFF how exciting! I've had ligament twinges that have made me suspicious but the only way to know is to go and get that test!! Lovely colours in that top, you're dark and very pretty so am sure will look good

just had a cafe nightmare, why does everyone think it is their duty to comment and offer 'suggestions' when your baby is crying??? It doesn't make the mum any less frazzled!!!

very pretty top MM can you get it in time? Paris was quite reasonable ££, we found, although we had an apartment and bought food and fed the dcs there at dinner a few times, rather than compromising our own mealtime enjoyment at restaurants! They are also quite snacky eaters at lunchtime so it was markets for bread, olives, cheese and apples and then off to the Luxembourg Gardens or wherever.

Look what I found in my wardrobe this morning - this Theory skirt Now I really need that white tanky tee I was asking you all to look for the other day!!!

traceybath · 04/02/2010 12:18

Burning - I've had 3 sections and have occasionally had the same. Umm do you think it could be trapped wind .

God - I have had a shit day, am in pain with a sore rib from banging it on bea's cot and got a flat tyre at school. Had to wait ages for AA and then realised brand new car doesn't have a spare so had to get DH to meet AA man at kwikfit to pay for new tyre. You can imagine how happy DH was to do that as is very very busy at work.

So I'm looking for something to cheer me up.

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 12:25

BBFF - I haven't had this, but is it possible that its just your internal bits getting settled and working again ie ovulation or something like that?

florenceuk · 04/02/2010 12:45

Hi ladies - lots to read. I don't think I'll do the recap of January buys, it would be too much to bear/bare (although the spending on here always makes me feel virtuous).

I have a quick question about brogues. Do you just wear them with jeans/trews or would it be too much (for an over-40) to wear them with skirts?? I have a cord skirt and have been eyeing up a pair of brogues on Yoox (can't link as at work but they are Natascha brand and marked down to about £80 - come in black, dark brown, green and brown, and blue!)

Very happy with John Smedley sale buys (free postage and returns) - I bought a Mint cowl neck in grey and a Rouelle poloneck in fuschia - both beautifully made. But now it's warmed up in london don't feel I needed them quite so much as last week. It may well be time to launch into spring.

Tracybath, hope you're feeling well soon - retail therapy???

mrsjuan · 04/02/2010 12:47

BBFF - I had that too - I didn't have a c section but I kept feeling little twinges in the left hand side exactly where and how I first felt DD moving. It was a bit freaky but I'm pretty certain it wasn't a baby - no other signs yet anyway

Like both the tops that have been linked to and LTEC's skirt. That will look great with tanned legs.

hellsbelles · 04/02/2010 12:47

Tracey - sorry it's been so shit. Also LTEC - I hate that sort of enclosed space hell!

Shall we all do a bit of shopping to cheer ourselves up (I don't have any terrible occurances other than I'm feeling a bit under the weather - but any excuse )

MarshaBrady · 04/02/2010 12:47

Hi folks, well made it to Liberty yesterday finally. And ending up spending 3 hours there, left after letting cleaners in at 10 and got back just in time for school pick up! . What with all the trying on and intermittent bf'ding (A nice place to do it btw, didn't feel rushed, nice smiling people etc which was good as felt a bit on edge about long day out).

Bought a pair of Miu Miu tonal / graduated purple sunglasses which I love. Huge and round-ish. The lens is a bit like these but frame is much simpler (impossible to find Liberty stuff online).

And fell at the last hurdle with a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs black leather boots, like these. Because they were reduced by £300.

But I am going back on Sunday to see if I want to swap them for some Vivienne Westwood boots or a Ralph Lauren jacket. Because I am not keen on black boots, and have never bought a pair and I'm really thinking beige and nude this season. I also would love these Louboutins too.

If people embracing their inner Liz or Kate, or rockstar with the ratters I feel I may be embracing my inner Upper East Side wench!

traceybath · 04/02/2010 12:59

Marsha - I would personally swap the boots for the shoes. Those shoes are gorgeous!

hellsbelles · 04/02/2010 13:05

Marsah - agree with Tracey - those shoes are beautiful. I tried on similar but my horrible hooves are too wide for them! I will be very as you swan around in them.

LetThemEatCake · 04/02/2010 13:21

Tracey - sorry you've had a rubbish morning, definitely you deserve a treat. What do you have in mind?

Marsha - glad you had a lovely day, I absolutely adore Liberty, could spend all day there .. next time my mum comes over from Australia I am ditching leaving all of the dcs with her and going there solo .. bliss.

Like the boots, love the shoes

Now, from sublime to ridiculous ... would red Hunter wellies for my caravanning holiday be a sartorial disaster?? Something about the jauntiness of the red speaks to me ..

OP posts:
blossoming · 04/02/2010 14:07

LTEC - go on, embrace the British style. Some times you've just got to with what the weather dictates. Make sure you spend loads on them, then you'll probably have lovely weather and won't need them
Marsha, just a thought on those nude heels, have you seen these lovely shoes? Then you'd have money left over for more shopping .
Mrs Juan, I have made an appointment with House of Colour, not able to go until the beginning of March, but still, something to look forward to aswell as the shopping afterwards. Have you seen how much navy in M&S at the moment?

bunnymother · 04/02/2010 14:34

Cakey - feel very angry for you that people put their oar in re your baby - they should fuck off. Am normally a benign bunny but this is something I feel passionate about. Esp as it does just stress you out. I remember someone telling me that DD sounded hungry when she was a crying newborn. I hissed at them that she had just been fed ('twas true, and if I knew how to make her stop crying I would have done it). Breathe in, breathe out. Thanks for Paris tips - we are going over Easter w some friends who also have babies so reading w great interest. Red wellies sound so cool! If I can find some in blood red or deep raspberry pink or even royal blue, I am getting some!

Florence - I haven't a clue about brogues, sorry, but no doubt someone w actual style will advise!

Tracey - grrr, what a frustrating morning!!! Nice glass(es) of wine for you this evening?

MrsJuan - yes, our babies are v similar ages, and it seems our wardrobes are shaping up to be similar, too!

Marsha - sounds like you had a wonderful day out! The sunglasses are divine - what beautiful taste you have. The boots look OK, but I find suede v fragile and the CL shoes are just beautiful so I would def swap them. LK Bennett do v similar shoes, but they are too narrow for me (in case you wanted something cheaper). I have nude patent heels and don't wear them often at the mo, but have always enjoyed wearing them.
