Could you wear wellies with thick knee high socks?

bunnymother · 03/02/2010 21:46

Sorry, Fleecy - v cool blazer. DP is a funny shop, is t it?? I have 2 excellent quality jackets and coats from there and sone other things I have looked at have been too tacky for words. You just never know w Dotty P!! Hope your blazer is a winner.

LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 21:46

Nooo ... not wellies!! They;re so ... so ... so British!!

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 21:47

in a bad, horsey, way, I mean. No disrespect to the country that's taken me in these last 10 years ..

bunnymother · 03/02/2010 21:50

There aren't any fun, cheap wellies aka gumboots? I used to kick around in them as a toddler so could think of them as childish rather than horsey Sloaney British?

blossoming · 03/02/2010 21:52

LTEC, I vote take the boots. Nothing worse than cold feet in the rain - living in Wales, I should know

dexter73 · 03/02/2010 21:54

Even these wellies?

eshermummy · 03/02/2010 21:55

LTEC - just did you a lovely long msg re boots with links and everything and lost it.
Can't face doing it all again so condensed version is:

look at

celtic sheepskin and rubyanded for cheaper non branded versions of same

Am not an ugg lover myself but agree as to importance of warm feet.

Someone linked to v expensive dubarry boots - posh leather wellies

my wardrobe - got cord wellies in sale - have a look, better than they sound.

LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 22:07

oh dexter!!

thanks esher - will have a look

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 22:10

damn you esher

I have posh leather wellies! They are worth the money as I wear them loads to walk the dog and my feet stay warm and dry even when I am standing in a stream (and they look so much better than normal wellies!). They are easy to keep clean too as you can wash them under the tap.
I have these.

dexter73 · 03/02/2010 22:18

I wear these socks with them over my jeans. They are so warm!

GeorginaWorsley · 03/02/2010 22:19

That was my thought too,all a bit mumsy, monkeysmama
Am liking the Boden ones and the Castaner ones.
Have had a quick look in next, nothing caught my eye, they al seem very high.
The trouble is,I think it is the lower wedge on my links that make them mumsy, ifyswim.
I am willing to pay the Boden/Castaner prices,if they are perfect, but obviously would like them a bit cheaper if I could!
Anyway, thanks for all your input girls!

LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 22:21

they are very nice dexter - those and esher's.

um, why do you stand in streams?

OP posts:
eshermummy · 03/02/2010 22:29

I don't do the country myself you understand, but DH shoots and thus knows about country kit and apparently aigle also make v good boots.

eshermummy · 03/02/2010 22:39

LTEC - you know you linked to that star print cardy t'other day and I wasn't keen - well look at this you have to look closely

LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 22:46

found some Aigles on amazon for about £55, they're not too bad I suppose.

Can't do Hunters, not round here - it would make me like them

not keen on that cardi, looks short ... I still like the other (I like kitsch patterned knitwear!) but won't buy, don't need it .. mum can knit me one.

Your dh shoots???

I love standing in streams! Also my dog likes going in them too so we go in together. I supposed I am a bit like a child stomping in puddles!

Fleecy · 03/02/2010 22:51

Thanks for your blazer feedback - I'm super excited because it's my first non-eBay purchase this year.

I've also popped a couple of nude tops in the order. I don't think I can carry off the colour but wondered if I might be able to do it by adding some colour with a scarf to stop the nude being next to my face and hair. So ordered a scarf to go with the tops. And three pinky handbags to choose from in case the nude tops don't work! I dare not go back to the other thread now

GW hope you've been enjoying your extended birthday celebrations!

LetThemEatCake · 03/02/2010 22:52

shooting and standing in streams ... it's all too much for a girl from the big smoke.

Fleecy

LTEC - I am the wrong person to ask about comfort factor. I should be thrown off this thread really as I will always go for warm, toasty and comfortable over style. So yes - I would most certainly get the uggs. And uggs do have oddly slimming properties....somehow their big clumpiness renders legs thinner somehow!

I'm out for a meal tonight....may give my new anglomania stripey dress an airing (with many layers of course!)

monkeysmama · 04/02/2010 09:01

LTEC thanks for your message about the Paris book - I totally overlooked it yesterday. Will look now. Did you find it reasonably easy with LOs (eating out etc.)?

Good going Fleecy.

Did anyone get their ASOS top yet?

monkeysmama · 04/02/2010 09:20

Anyone else here?

I have a dilemma I need to solve quickly. I have been packing for Paris and need a top to wear with my dark blue Marthas under my Gap pea coat with my brogues. I need it to be warmish, not to cling to my tummy and to be a reasonable length without hanging to low below my coat which all the existing tops I like do.

Thanks girls.
