Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
mrsjuan · 01/02/2010 12:30

Thanks for the new thread. Do you think we'll make one per month?

Right Missus. I just looked back at your Christmas photo and you do look skinny in that picture. I would kill for legs and arms like that! I do know how you feel though. Glad you're feeling better about it all today

By the way, I could get onto a bit of your facebook by clicking on your name (nosy, moi? ) Not all of it but you might want to check your privacy settings.

I am cleaning and waiting for a washing machine man today so being very boring in boyfriend jeans and old old old Gap hoodie.

GeorginaWorsley · 01/02/2010 12:41

Hello all!
my birthday today, but have a bit of a cold so feeling a bit off....
Thanks LTEC for that info re Lipsy on the old thread.I am looking for tea dress type things that I can wear now with tights/leggings/layers/boots,then later on their own with ballet flats/flip flops.
Am keen on navy atm,so mimi's Monsoon recommendation is good. Will order and see.
Have also seen a couple in French Connection, but they are slow getting their Spring website up and running.
May also check out Uttam as they have some 'different' dresses.

traceybath · 01/02/2010 12:44

Happy Birthday Georgi.

LTEC - you are utterly gorgeous and very very slim. I think we're both suffering from body dysmorphia - DH got quite cross with me yesterday as I was moaning about losing another couple of pounds.

Right have ordered those boots from here - god I hope its a reputable site. If the boots aren't perfect they're going back though.

Today I'm wearing denim mini, whistles scoop neck top in nude and blue cashmere cardi.

New vogue just arrived but am saving for tonight when dc's in bed and I can read it in peace.

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 01/02/2010 12:44

CHOOGIRL · 01/02/2010 13:07

Hi all

Working quick update from me.
Being taken out to dinner tonight by old friend . Wearing black shift dress, cashmere cardigan, Hermes scarf and, of course, my signature Louboutins!

Just been out for lunch and got some short UGGs - not sure why. I haven't really bought anything this month, unless you are counting the North Face coat and Brora Dress. Will need to start my SS10 purchases soon.

bunnymother · 01/02/2010 13:11

Happy birthday Georgina!!!

carciofi · 01/02/2010 13:24

Choo - how was the brora dress? And how many pairs of louboutins do you have

hellsbelles · 01/02/2010 13:30

Happy birthday Georgi!

hana - don't say that. My knees are 38 years old and I'm planning on exposing them this summer!

Mimi1977 · 01/02/2010 13:33

Happy Birthday Georgina!

Sorry you've been feeling down LTEC. Gets us all I think and this time of year never great for feeling good about yourself. Echo everyone else in saying you look gorgeous (and thin!) in your pics.

Choogirl - don't knock Uggs!! They are my savour in this weather. Wore some LK Bennett riding style boots the other day and my toes were freezing!! Soon swopped them for Uggs!

Carciofi - that's the same colour one I got. Can't wait to try it on! Does it look fab on? And is it warm. Oh I do hope postman dropped off with a neighbour but they never do.

Do rather like that tea dress I linked. Had promised myself I won't buy anything else but this thread makes me realise what I do need and that the reason I don't wear some stuff its because it doesn't suit me or I don't really like it.

Mimi1977 · 01/02/2010 13:39

Choogirl - well done on not buying anything this month - but it is only February 1st!!!!

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2010 13:41

Ah, here you are! Right i'm still not caught up from friday but i need advice.

This beautiful bag has been in a dust bag for 2 years now, basically from as soon as dh bought it for me. I'm not going to really be able to use it for some time, it's not exactly practical with a baby and a toddler. this is the bag i use eveyday Should i sell the chanel? I keep thinking no as it's a classic but it's sitting there unloved. What do you think??

Redliquorice · 01/02/2010 13:49

Georgina - Happy Birthday!

Mimi - Love the Monsoon recommendation.

LTEC - You look gorgeous in your pics but I know how you feel. Regardless of what others say, sometimes you just don't feel comfortable in your own skin (iykwim!). Four years after DS2, I still cannot get rid of my little baby pouch! Anyone got any solutions?

traceybath · 01/02/2010 13:51

Burning - personally I'd keep the chanel - its gorgeous. And what would you actually be able to sell it for?

Baby won't be a baby for long really and then you can get some more use out of it.

CHOOGIRL · 01/02/2010 13:55

Tracybath Brora dress fits well and looks lovely but definitely needs accessorising to add va va voom.
I think I have about 6 or 7 pairs of CLs.

BBFF DO NOT SELL CHANEL. It will still look lovely when your little ones are grown. I'm planning to hand my bags to my DD idc.

Right - must do some work now

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2010 13:55

Happy Birthda Georgina! What are you doing today?

LTEC - Glad you feel better after your run. Do you run in the mornings? You look very very slim on that christmas photo by the way.

Wish i had some time to exercise. Feel so bloody unhealthy at the moment!

Just had a letter from the gp, i've got very low calcium levels and deficient in vit D apparently.
If that isn't reason i need a holiday for some sun i don't know what is! Still, aint gonna happen!

bunnymother · 01/02/2010 14:09

BBFF - I also think do NOT sell the Chanel - keep it and you will use it in time. Esp as you are unlikely to get enough for it by selling it, I think.

If this thread has taught me anything, its that you need to invest in good quality clothes. Like CHOOGirl, I also want to give some things to DD, and the only things worth giving so far is the jewellery from DH

Hoorayhenrietta · 01/02/2010 14:20

Hello hello!
Nice day out there and we're all still sicky with streaming colds....Can't wait to get out and do some retail therapy !!!

I completely sympathise with those of you having recently just had babies who keep thinking you must 'lose just a bit more'...I am 1/2 stone off my pre pg weight, but think I need to get a stone off. So I'll weigh less than I did before. I don't know why - guess my shapes changed a bit...

Feeling a bit el crappo too - so must do something about it!
Funny thing too is I must be THE most stressy manic person at the moment with the lowest blood pressure! Its only about 101/73 and I felt sure it would be rocketing- ho hum!!!

Anyway, decided, for S/S I want, needdeserve:
(especially having spent last summer looking like a barrage balloon whilst pg with DC3!!!)
New shades
cropped jeans
cropped trousers
couple of pretty knee length skirts
shortish jacket
couple of short sleeved knitted tops
cardi x2
funky t -shirts(loads) longish
strappy tops (halter necks and
denim mini
converse low tops
havaianas (are they still ok for '10 SS?) - I cannot stand Birkenstocks any more having spent the last 8 summers in them)
sun dress
smart dress
white linen trousers
outfit for a wedding in august 2010

bloody hell...well, made a start!
Comments/suggestions widely accepted

funky t-shirts (any suggestions?)

LetThemEatCake · 01/02/2010 14:20

sorry ladies I didn't mean to take the fun of shopping and turn it into a moan about my (real or imagined) ishoos - thank you all for your words of encouragement and affirmation though! tracey I'm glad it;s not just me and my dh, one of the few things that he and I argue about is my 'obsession', as he terms it.

Have just had a fun trip to Sainsbury's where, once I had dd and ds1 in the seat of the trolley, and sleeping ds3 in his carseat in the trolley proper, I had no room left for shopping . Having a friend and her daughter over for tea this evening, am wearing ancient 7s, silver Ash high-tops, l/s black tee under dark purple sweater vest under Isabella Oliver cable cosy. It's chilly!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGINA. Hope the year ahead brings all sparkly things Re tea dresses, it's worth keeping your eyes open for Leona Edmiston on ebay, she does a tea dress like no other. There's a boutique in Westfield (london) but it's pricey but you might pick up the occasional bargainous one on the ebay australia site - although this is not particularly bargainous

Bunting I am not a fan of Chanel so poss the wrong person to ask (I'd sell!!) but swooning over your Balenciaga - lush. By the way, did I mention that your photos are gorgeous? Re running - whenever I can, my dh isn't around a lot and I have no childcare, so it's tricky. Am relying on Davina McCall dvds at the mo but it's not the same. Better than nothing though!

choo - we miss you! have a lovely dinner tonight

Ossie Clark sweater has arrived - haven't dared try on yet - the pressure!! the suspense!! the temptation to hit the gin if it looks shite!!

Hoorayhenrietta · 01/02/2010 14:28

And LTEC forgot to mention...you do indeed look fab in the photo! In fact, you look v attractive and def. slim in your profile pages
traceybath love the boots!
Happy Birthday Georgi !!!!!!
P.S. We are going to try a tipi weekend with the kids in the summer for the weekend (oh God, so not me!!!)...I want to look funky - so t-shirts, mini's (any suggestions)

Fleecy · 01/02/2010 14:33

I would also like to be slimmer - I lost my babyweight pretty easily after 2nd DC and felt really good at first. But now I'm used to that size, I feel too big again.

I weigh nearly 11 stone but fit an 8 on top and 10 on the bottom. Must be muscle I do two dance classes a week and one circuit training so I'm fairly fit, but I eat too much!

Don't sell the Chanel! Keep it to use in the years to come. I don't have an everyday bag - I swap my stuff over so I get wear out of all my favourite bags!

Are we totting up January's purchases? I bought two tops from eBay - total spend £18 inc p&p so pleased with that!
