What do you wear on Christmas Day?

For the first time in my life I am looking forward to Christmas with unbridled excitement. Was doing some online browsing earlier & am wondering what to wear on Christmas Day. We'll be at home, make take a stroll, have guests for brunch & lunch at home with dd & dp (I'll be cooking)

I am going to order us all some new pjs for Christmas Eve but want to feel sparkly on Christmas Day.

I liked this on Claudia W on tv last night but am not sure about material.

What will you wear?

I have a longish black skirt and a red cardigan with narrow sparkly stripes that I wheel out for Christmas day. I usually change out of the skirt when we come back form church, though.

Oh, and I wear and apron!

I have a black Cardigan with embellishments on the sleeves that my mum bought 30 years ago & I wear every Christmas Eve. It'll be fashionable this year!

AvadaKedavra · 15/11/2009 16:16

I'm wearing a red shift dress from Monsoon (that I can eat in and has a cheeky pleat at the fron to hide turkey and pudding with) with a shrug to cover the bingo wings.

SausageRocket · 15/11/2009 16:18

No idea. Xmas day at BIL2's this year so no cooking, just 'guesting' (ie making a nuisance of myself and getting pissed - they are coming to us on Boxing Day so will return the favour). I prob wear a casual-ish dress with coloured opaques and flat slouchy boots.

MamaG · 15/11/2009 16:19

I usually wear crotchless knickers and a peephole bra.

The youngest of my 4 children was born thirty years ago and what I want to know is whether any young mum wears a dressing gown these days? My youngest d in l is expecting her first baby in March and lives in a cold flat. I can remember the lovely, warm dressing gown I wore when my fourth son was born and how comforting it was when I got up to feed in the night. I want to buy her something nice for Christmas and have looked at pretty flannel gowns from Toast and something called a cardigown from Hush (wool -so a pain to wash and dry) Can any of you help me? Maybe I'm too old to be on here, anyway....

Jedward · 15/11/2009 18:28

ooh no its nice yo have you on.
NOw what kind of style has she? describe her typical clothes and we will find htings for her - how nice to get her one.
MAYBe if she is all Yoofful she will prefer what they call " loungewear"?
what is your budget

Jedward · 15/11/2009 18:29

wonderbra - I am under 30 and own a dressing gown, if that helps?!

It is too hot though, some sort of acrylic asbestos fleecy stuff.

AngelinaJolly · 15/11/2009 19:33

last 2 Christmases I have accessorised my outfit w a potato peeler in one hand and a baby muslin on my shoulder.

This year I will appear as if by magic looking fabulous, just before lunch, in a semi-designer cashmere-blend dress and more jewelry than just my wedding rings, ready to do battle in persuading my 2 little DDs that sprouts really are quite yummy when mixed with redcurrant jelly.

AngelinaJolly · 15/11/2009 19:34

PS. I do like the "Claudia" dress (as it should now be known.

AngelinaJolly · 15/11/2009 19:35

)

JANEITEisntErudite · 15/11/2009 19:36

Gap and M&S Autograph do v nice dressing gowns that are more like lovely big snuggly cardigans and would be great for a new mum in a cold flat.

Sorry OP but that dress in the first link is revolting.

I wear jeans and a nice jumper on Christmas day, complete with button open in the afternoon!

FimboFortunaFeet · 15/11/2009 19:37

I don't see the point in getting all dressed up to sit around the house all day gorging on food.
