What do you wear on Christmas Day?

For the first time in my life I am looking forward to Christmas with unbridled excitement. Was doing some online browsing earlier & am wondering what to wear on Christmas Day. We'll be at home, make take a stroll, have guests for brunch & lunch at home with dd & dp (I'll be cooking)

I am going to order us all some new pjs for Christmas Eve but want to feel sparkly on Christmas Day.

I liked this on Claudia W on tv last night but am not sure about material.

What will you wear?

Want to wear a dress but bf so thats not going to happen.

Probably new martha jeans, heels and a bit of cashmere.

Longtalljosie · 16/11/2009 07:44

Wonderbra - I think just go to M and S and get something snuggly. How about this? Something pale-ish is practical as you're always putting through light, non-bio loads with a baby and rarely put through a dark load

monkeysmama · 16/11/2009 08:10

I bf too tracybath but plan to whip them out the top of the lace dress .

I normally wear 'smart casual', so jeans with a nice top

Woo, I won't be pregnant any more by Christmas (due 25th of this month), here's hoping I can fit into jeans again

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/11/2009 08:26

Im due the 11th December, so naturally i'll be wearing the skinniest, tightest pre-pregnancy jeans that I own, no scrap that, I'll be so tiny I would have to rush out and buy some new ones because all my old ones will be simply falling off of me!
Realistically I will most likely be wearing my maternity jeans and a nice jumper with comfy boots.

Bambinoloveseggbirds · 16/11/2009 08:55

I'm wearing a jumper dress thingy with opaque tights and boots. I will look
like a right tart fabulous when we take DS to the park in the trike we have got him.

ninedragons · 16/11/2009 09:02

Swimmers and sunblock

MamaG · 16/11/2009 09:20

monkeysmama I was just joking around you haven't offended anybody

ButterflyLullaby · 16/11/2009 10:02

I am going to wear my PG's.
They are my favourite item of clothing.
Comfy and relaxing.

MadameDuBain · 16/11/2009 11:25

Wonderbra I can recommend my Toast djellaba (which is like a full-length flannel nightgown) - amazingly comfy, fits pregnancy bump (i do have a large as I'm tall, but I think medium would fit most bumps too) and even has front opening so you can breastfeed in it, I have a friend who wore hers a lot after the birth. However, sexy/feminine it's not

If I can I'll wear that all xmas day, with woolly socks. If I have to leave the house, it'll be jeans, boots and jumper dress.

Bomper · 16/11/2009 11:47

My family have always dressed up for Christmas day, so I felt really out of place when I spent my first Christmas with all the in-laws a few years back, I was done up to the nines in a little black dress, high heels, make up, the lot and they were all in tracksuits and other assorted sportswear!! Have to say, still think my way is better!!

juliemacc · 16/11/2009 11:48

I would like to say a splash of Chanel no 5 and a smile, but I may get odd looks from the children and mother-in-law...

TheArmadillo · 16/11/2009 11:59

I am wearing my nice outfit I bought for a wedding and then was too ill to attend.

I will get a chance to wear my nice dress and coloured tights and lovely shoes.

lilacclaire · 16/11/2009 12:35

I usually wear something that I would wear to a quiet night out, like a silky top and black trousers.
Will change into jeans and scruffy tshirt later though as I am working on christmas night

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 16/11/2009 12:36

Just my usual chaps and whip.

bryony77 · 16/11/2009 12:59

I'll be 7.5months pg so can't really do the LBD thing - any suggestions for something I can wear (which may also double for christmas work-do?).

Also re dressing gown - lovely idea, I wore mine loads with DD1 - but do make sure you get something that's easy to wash and quick to dry! and not too bulky either. oh - and slippers too for nighttime; socks are all very well, but slippers are much easier when you can barely manage to get up, let alone bend down to pull socks on!

NanaNina · 16/11/2009 13:03

Monkysmama - have enjoyed the thread but I am more wondering why this is the first Christmas you are looking forward to in your life? Happy for you whatever the reason.

SecretNinjaChipmunk · 16/11/2009 13:15

i like the tool belt idea, complete with corkscrew, batteries and screwdriver, paracetamol, and oven timer. and maybe a small clip on plastic tub for peanuts.

SecretNinjaChipmunk · 16/11/2009 13:19

oh and i used to work for a nightwear company. i have a polar fleece la senza dressing gown and i love it, its so snuggly and it washes really well. i've had it for about 5 years now and its still going strong.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 16/11/2009 13:36

I have a dark fuchsia silk MaxMara skirt that I would like to wear a gorgioso black polo neck sweater with, but I haven't found a nice one (either clingy, baggy or ribbed). Has anyone seen a good 'un? Cashmere or v v soft wool would do nicely.

monkeysmama · 17/11/2009 09:32

I love MaxMara. I saw some lovely fine knit polo necks in John Smedley's women range. Agnes B has some nice ones too. For a tighter budget Massimo Dutti have a range of very soft thin roll necks which wash well and are great for in doors/layering.

MM I'll be wearing what ever I can get my fat arse into. You on the otherhand will look great in that dress

CMOTdibbler · 18/11/2009 09:18

If we don't go anywhere, I shall buy some festive flannelette pjs.

If we go to my mums it'll be leggings and a tunic

monkeysmama · 18/11/2009 10:03

Hey BWC . Dress is going back-made me feel flammable. Dp is trying to convince me to dress as Igglepiggle claiming it'll make dd's Christmas . not quite the look I had in mind.
