What do you wear on Christmas Day?

For the first time in my life I am looking forward to Christmas with unbridled excitement. Was doing some online browsing earlier & am wondering what to wear on Christmas Day. We'll be at home, make take a stroll, have guests for brunch & lunch at home with dd & dp (I'll be cooking)

I am going to order us all some new pjs for Christmas Eve but want to feel sparkly on Christmas Day.

I liked this on Claudia W on tv last night but am not sure about material.

What will you wear?

Thanks LTEC - didn't know what was happening for a while there. I never upset anyone!

I saw a pink dress the other day which made me think of you pink girls. I am not a pink fan - it does nothing for me - but for some reason I have fallen for this dress. I don't know why, it is so not my usual taste but oh is it beautiful.

I have just ordered my Christmas Eve nightwear it is nice .

why baffled mrs mh? what's wrong with wanting to look nice with only your nearest and dearest as an audience? tbh when i get dressed up to go out (if with dp) it's only my/dp's opinion of what i'm wearing that i care about (hence nice undies :P)

Am going to insist FC brings me some nice Christmas day expandable loungewear to make room for pud and bun in the oven. Hush stuff, who do the cardigown looks beautiful, but too ££.

ravenAK · 15/11/2009 23:09

Long, slinky black velvet skirt, lacy stockinged feet (I'll start off in velvet mary janes but I always kick them off) & a Motorhead, Damned or Ghost Dance t-shirt .

Once dinner's actually on the table, I might stick a respectable top on...depends on how many sherries I've managed whilst stirring the gravy, & whether BIL has gone AWOL again with the kids 5 minutes before dishing up...

Is this a joke?
I am so out of it
Want to cry

skinsl · 15/11/2009 23:11

sorry just realised was in style and beauty section, I will leave immediately!

LetThemEatCake · 15/11/2009 23:11

don't cry skinski. There's still time to get into the fashionably festive spirit.

LetThemEatCake · 15/11/2009 23:13

MM - unlike me - my sole talent is upsetting people!!

my problem with this thread is that now I want to know why this is the first Xmas you've really looked forward to. I know you have a completely adorable family so I'm all nosey and curious about it.

Don't expect an explanation, just thought you'd like to know that the bloodhound in me is excited!!!

blueywhite · 15/11/2009 23:15

Your little one is gorgeous!

LetThemEatCake · 15/11/2009 23:19

whose??

cupcakesinthesnow · 15/11/2009 23:19

WOnderbra - I would LOVE my MIL to get me the Boden cardigown thingy. Gorgeous.

monkeysmama · 15/11/2009 23:23

Hey Super sleuth aka LTEC! I hate all the faffing that goes with a big family and Christmas .

And we've had a shit year.

This Christmas is going to make it all better . Me, dp, dd in our beautiful house .

going to bed, thoroughly depressed.

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2009 23:30

Not sure yet but will wear something really good as parents are flying from the other end of world to spend Christmas day with us and new baby (ten days or around that).

Needs buttons to bf.

MrsMerryHenry · 15/11/2009 23:41

heartofgold, what I actually said was that I'm baffled that people would buy something to wear just on Xmas Day. I also said that I was happy to make more effort to dress up myself, but spending extra money on a new outfit seems rather wasteful.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/11/2009 23:47

skin - why depressed?

Pjs in the morning to open presents, and then I am planning to wear a lovely wool Boden dress that I bought last winter, with my new black knee highs and my diamonds!

Love getting dressed up for Christmas

Iatemyskinnyperson · 16/11/2009 00:10

Wonderbra - I bought this for myself. It doesn't look great in the pic, but the fabric is lovely and I love the zip. You can wear it round the house without it gaping and revealing whats on/not on underneath. And the style isn't too 'nightwear' - as in not pink spotty fleece or whatever.

OP - we do dress up smartly, although I generally abandon the shoes at some point. I like knit dresses, as they're comfy and easy.

Monty100 · 16/11/2009 00:25

Wonderbra - if you are getting a dressing gown, make sure it's not a pain to launder though.

Xmas day I usually pull out something really outrageous that I've bought but never went anywhere to wear, maybe really high boots with a short dress or whatever, last year I dressed aka Amy Winehouse lol and proceeded to dance and sing like a nutter her in the kitchen after I'd done all the clearing up and family were watching Dr Who.

Wuxiapian · 16/11/2009 01:03

Pajamas until midday(ish), then comfy clothes (lounge bottoms and top) for chillin' with the homies.

If I'm going out, a pretty skirt, top, heels, jewellery, make-up.

florence2511 · 16/11/2009 01:49

Bikini and sarong!

June2009 · 16/11/2009 06:50

psml, I read this thread backwards and was wondering why so many people were wearing wonderbras on xmas day ;)
(clearly too early too mn!)

Tryingtobeorganisedthisyear · 16/11/2009 07:09

Black wrap over dress to cope with expanding bump.....some one have some sherrys for me

disneystar1 · 16/11/2009 07:30
