  1. Dying your hair a matte brown or black. So ageing and unattractive especially when also sporting bed flattened crown at which white roots are visible.
  1. Long skirt, jaunty jerkin and medium helled boot ensemble (this particular species' natural habitat is M&S).
  1. Not getting your teeth scaled and polished on a regular basis.
  1. Wearing too many gold rings at once.

Oh and please stop dragging your sheepish looking dhs with you around the lingerie dept. Haven't they got shelves ot put up or lawns to mow?

Forgive me, MNetters, for I have sinned.

I am guilty of buying from M&S Portfolio range. I really didn't know it was aimed at the older woman.

And I really didn't know it was an animal print, until I looked for it online, because I was going to post here about the lovely dress I have just bought.

But it is lovely, fits me, covers up my flabby midriff and is very flattering.

And I'm wearing it with my fab brown leather Autograph biker boots.

So there.

OFGS

Does it fucking matter?

whatever style you choose??

whatever age you are???

crimes against fashion!!!!.....get over yourself......

Melfish · 12/11/2009 21:58

I have trendy specs, but I don't wear them like Jenni Murray. Tho I don't have any of the other crimes in my wardrobe (yet). Totally agree with Moondog, she is so irritating I have to change radio stations when she's on.

TheCrackFox · 12/11/2009 21:59

Has anyone mentioned jackets with Mandarin collars yet? They are grim.

Hullygully · 12/11/2009 22:00

I find to my alarm that on rare shopping forays I gravitate to the bit of M&S where the white haired go. The Per Una etc just seems so young.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 12/11/2009 22:01

There are people on another thread discussing and linking to duvet coats. I had to leave.

wastingaway · 12/11/2009 22:05

Hullygully, white haired lol, Andy Warhol?

Stormfly · 12/11/2009 22:07

But fleeces are so warm... I would freeze otherwise as I don't own a woollen coat because it rains so much here it would just be permanently soaking wet. Have Berghaus-type raincoat thing for putting over fleece - where does that register in middle-aged fashion crime?

Hullygully · 12/11/2009 22:07

wasting - whitehaired with coaches waiting outside after they've had a nice teacake.

EdgarAllenPoo · 12/11/2009 22:07

i have a long velvet coat with a mandarin collar and it is one of my most complemented items.

so Ner.

and I have linked to a padded coat on the other thread :P

Hullygully · 12/11/2009 22:07

So what can we wear then?

moondog · 12/11/2009 22:09

Doesn't the dreaded JM do something with a scarv over one shoulder too?
Hideous.

Fat women often think the wacky specs and feisty hairdo detract from flab.
Er...no.

I always think polo neck and shirt combo very North American as seen in those surreal family shots, all gleaming teeth and manic eyes..

@ fairly unpleasant footwear - what did you see?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/11/2009 22:10

you may wear anything so long as it's not:

fleece
brown
or shows yer flab

if you have great legs, get 'em out, ditto boobs but not if they are tattooed

dexter73 · 12/11/2009 22:10

MadBadAndDangerousToKnow - buttoned or unbuttoned, either is just awful!

BecauseImWorthIt · 12/11/2009 22:11

Fuck off BALD. Brown really suits me.

ner.

PutDown · 12/11/2009 22:13

That particular Sharon Osborne shade of red hair, deemed youthful by certain older women.Usually paired with too short bootcut jeans and black boots.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/11/2009 22:14

apart from BIWI

Hullygully · 12/11/2009 22:15

Am puzzled by brown veto. On what is it based?

Stormfly · 12/11/2009 22:15

Sitting here at the computer in my fleece, so there!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/11/2009 22:19
