Following on from the other thread, I need some more inspiration for retail therapy

scottishmummy · 30/10/2009 10:32

buy childrens clothes, bedding never looked at white co for women clothes though

IdrisTheDragon · 30/10/2009 10:32

Am 34

Supermarkets mainly. And if somewhere has a particularly good sale ie top for £5 I will take a lot.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 30/10/2009 10:34

I'm 33 and get clothes from;

Next
Asda
h&m
TK Maxx
Top Shop
Debenhams
White Stuff
Monsoon
New Look

h&m

TheDevilEatsBabies · 30/10/2009 10:34

i'm 33.

i buy most of my stuff from charity shops, mainly because i'm poor, but also because i constantly hate current fashions! (and the shapes are btter too: most shops now assume that women have got thick waists in comparison to their hips, but i don't (or my hips are huge...))

knickers from M&S because the nearest John Lewis is miles and miles and miles away.
tights from John Lewis normally, but i've been getting some from h&m when they're patterned.
i bought some nice bras in next, but i wouldn't use them for anything else.

Zara for cardigans and jumpers because they're just normal, not assymetrical or short or weird etc that seems to be the fashion.

IsItMeOr · 30/10/2009 10:34

Am 38.

Hobbs for work stuff and jeans.
Boden for tops.
Very occasionally M&S.
Knit my own jumpers.
Josef Seibel for shoes.
Radley for handbags (usually pressies from DH).

Having said that, since DS was born (8mo) have only bought BFing tops/bras until last couple of weeks when acquired two pairs of shoes and a pair of jeans. I am definitely in the scruffy mummy camp.

MrsJohnDeere · 30/10/2009 10:40

I'm 37. Also short which limits my options for jeans and trousers.

White Stuff - tops and skirts
White Company - basic t-shirts and PJs
Fat Face - tops (mainly winter ones)
Boden - tops, dresses, jackets, accessories BUT less so since they made their tops longer
M&S - jeans (not particularly nice but the only ones that fit me), underwear
Kew - t shirts
Fig Leaves - underwear
John Lewis, Gap - occasional random things

Do almost all my clothes shopping online.

GossipMonger · 30/10/2009 10:43

I miss Principles.

DH bought me a fab dress from Next on Monday with some black boots.

M&S
Next
Monsoon sale

That really is it as he doesnt like me getting stuff from Tesco anymore!!!

Slubberdegullion · 30/10/2009 10:47

M&S (autograph and their long trousers always fit me)
Boden
Wrap
John Lewis
Banana Republic (when I am in London)
the occasional foray into Coast & Monsoon

shoes:
clarks
dune
new look (ditto GetOrf re comfortable heel)

Slubberdegullion · 30/10/2009 10:48

Oh goodness yes GossipMonger I miss Principles too. Another shop where their long leg trousers ALWAYS fitted. Dunno where I am going to get my jeans from now thay have gone

Slubberdegullion · 30/10/2009 10:50

I'm 34.

GossipMonger · 30/10/2009 10:50

The loss of Principles actually depresses me a bit when I do go shopping!

I am 38.

Debenhams confuses me.

as does M&S really as I seem to look at clothes that 85 yr old women are looking at!

jodee · 30/10/2009 10:52

Just looking at what I am wearing today (work) -

White Stuff cord skirt (bought last winter in sale)
Tesco blouse
Sainsbury's cardigan
Clarks long wedge boots

Otherwise - Ebay, Next sometimes (only in sales), M&S, River Island (nice cardis)

I actually HATE clothes shopping and do most online. (am 42 btw).

MustNotEatCake · 30/10/2009 10:54

Anything that takes my fancy from anywhere I happen to see it.
Recent purchases from eBay, m&s, primark, my-wardrobe, Isabella Oliver, brora, White stuff (l/s tees and yoga pants) Toast and Zara.
Turning 37 at Christmas

Slubberdegullion · 30/10/2009 10:54

There is a horrid dark boarded up shop now sandwiched between H&M and Topshop. Sometimes I stand pressed up against the dirty window and whimper for their long leg trousers and nice and perfectly affordable jewellery which made excellent Christmas presents.

MustNotEatCake · 30/10/2009 10:55

Oh- Gap and chazza shops too. Love a bargain

GossipMonger · 30/10/2009 10:58

I miss the sales assistants in my local Principles who always looked lovely in their Principle clothes and inspired me to try their looks.

They werent stick thin either. One was a good size 18ish but always looked lovely and I used to steal her ideas.

SofaQueen · 30/10/2009 10:59

I'm 38.

I DO buy clothes from:

Uniqlo (LOVE this place for decent quality, inexpensive basics)
Whistles
Zara
Massimo Dutti
Joseph (good for small sizes)

I dress pretty plainly, but accessorize my outfits to make them interesting

MissWooWoo · 30/10/2009 11:02

WHOA! Principles is gone?

Clearly I need to get out more. Unsuprisingly, and much to my disgust, I have mostly been buying my clothes from Sainsburys of late

I really miss Principles, only place I could find nice fitting jeans. I'm currently wearing a pair of Principles jeans and when this pair have had it I think I may be suicidal.

schiaparellipink · 30/10/2009 11:05

I've recently bought from - Toast (usually get stuff in the sale but couldn't wait for boots); Etsy, Ebay, Primark, Peacocks, Fred Perry (sale on website and outlet shop). Oh and New Look. I also bought some stuff from Whistles but took it back - their refund policy is dead good and staff were nice. I am 36.

scottishmummy · 30/10/2009 11:10

what was principles,dont remember it.sorry

mwahahamwahahallyroger · 30/10/2009 11:13

I got my most favourite wrap dress from principles 4 years ago and I wish I had bought two now as it was so flattering and i never saw anyone else wearing it and every single solitary time I wore it, strangers would compliment me....

Mostly I buy from charity shops because I don';t neccessarily love High Fashion, I am skint but I also love the challenege of dressing well for little money.
but I actually love Asda jeans (I mean the best fitting black skinnies for £12??!)
I also have had some amazing jumpery bargains from Asda.
If I have any money I love fat Face, Joe Browns and even the odd Boden skirt. New Look is fab for little dresses, M&S is fab for leggings.

mwahahamwahahallyroger · 30/10/2009 11:13

(I am 39)
